DAYVE

When I saw this caricature earlier today I was a little taken aback. Now you may say, “Dayve, you are not a little anything…” but never the less I feel the need to comment.

At first blush, it appears that the artist was simply having fun with the sudden rise in popularity of Mr. Obama, that is, likening him to former president Kennedy, but then I realized what it was that struck me so much about the picture, I want this… I want a president who inspires people, who can speak to a crowd and not leave a dry eye….a man of vision and not one who revels in being a “war president”. A president who lives the strength of his convictions and honestly wants what is best for all people of the country he leads.

I know some people didn’t have a very high opinion of JFK, and still don’t, but no matter what you think of him, you will probably admit that the man knew how to lead or at least work a crowd. Kennedy certainly was not perfect – but in my years on this planet he was about as close as any president has come.

Now, whether Barack Obama is the next great man to lead us is too early to say – I’m still kinda holding out for this guy going round the country sticking our noses in “Inconvenient Truths”….. but if what I’ve seen so far (20,000 greet Obama in Austin! yes, Austin, TEXAS)… is real and Barack can bring back some sensibility to the office of the presidency – well… can you say Camelot ?

GEEZER

Keep the Shiny side up

Does this mean that if he's elected he gets to cheat on his wife with a movie star and start a land war in Asia?

CANTTAKESKY

There's something to be said for overwhelming charisma in a leader.

If I had to vote for a Democratic candidate right now, it would probably be Obama. Not cause he's charismatic, but because he is inexperienced and relatively unsullied by the cesspool that is Washington.

(Of course, there is snowball's chance in hell that I'll ever vote Democratic again.)
