Once again American ineptitude rears its ugly head.

Possible ‘Fatal Flaw’ in Space Station:
Sources tell ABC News they suspect Americans damaged computers

Quote:

After working for a couple of days, the Russians still have no idea what the problem is, and they are pointing the finger at the Americans. They say that setting up the solar array sent electromagnetic interference into the computer, shutting it down.

Maybe we should just send up what we do best… Paris Hilton, Britney Spears and the latest American Idol winner…

Seems the Russians are a bit quick with the blame here. They blamed America almost before there was a problem. Since they have not figured out the problem's cause yet, blame is premature.

There's an old scientific principal..."smeller's the feller"...I think when all is said and done there's a good chance its the Russians that are the ones making this stink.

Face it, folks, our space program sucks - that's what happens when you let greedy defense contractors practically run it, expense AND incompetence.

These are the same folk who build airplanes that can't even fly, mind you.

And who paid for em ? we did.

This is one place where we need to cut off the gravy train tap and open the doors for competition, or we're hosed.

And yes I have an ulterior motive...
I WANT OFF THIS STINKIN ROCK.

Hey Frem, again. Not to put TOO much of a damper on your escape, but if you go with people won't the problems go along with them ? How do you get around that ?

We only let folks up who can correctly explain why general relativity 'disproves' newton's 'law of gravity', and why we still often use it despite that?

Relativity doesn't disprove Newtons Law of Gravity. A Law is an observed effect, a theory is an explination of observed effects. Relativity is a theory so can not disprove a law, only explain it.

Couldn't have been Vista, if it were Vista it would have unistalled the habitat module, blown up the solar array and prevented any further shuttle dockings due to firewall infringements.

I dunno, I have a hard time keeping the 'laws' and 'theories' part straight. If you read here:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Newton%27s_law_of_gravity

and then further:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Physical_law

Part of the problem is the Wiki entry seems to bounce between 'law' and 'theory' pretty freely. Can you find an authoritative statement of Newton's Law of Gravity which is distinct from this theory of universal gravitation?

This seems as good a place as any to mention it.
You recall me bitchin about the FedGov and Defense Contractors spending millions to build planes that can't even fly ?

I wasn't kidding.

Well Wikipedia has 'helpfully' compressed Newton's Law and Theory of gravity in to one single place. Netwons Law of Gravity states:
"Every object in the Universe attracts every other object with a force directed along the line of centres for the two objects that is proportional to the product of their masses and inversely proportional to the square of the seperation between the two objects."

That pretty much holds true even in Relativity. The problem with the Laws of Gravity though, is not that the theory of Relativity has replaced the Law of Gravity, it's that Newton's Law of Gravity never actually fit the observed effect. But the Law and the Theory are distinct, and it is the Theory that was replaced by Relativity, the Law was replaced by more up to date observations.

Friday afternoon, cosmonauts Fyodor Yurchikhin and Oleg Kotov used essentially a pair of alligator clips to bypass the main power switch on the computers. When they attempted to reboot the system then, two of the three data channels on each of the two computers were restored.

When the system appeared to be stable, the computers were shut down again, the external connections stabilized mechanically and the panel doors enclosing them shut to prevent their being jostled.

Ok, that makes good sense. Thanks for helping to clarify.

Computers are the least of their problems. For a few billion dollars I'm sure NASA can walk down to Walmart and pick up a replacement. And some Pampers.

The real problem is that Space Shuttles ARE MADE OUT OF FLOPPY HOTWATER HEATER BLANKETS.

Who would've guessed that floppy space blankets can fly at Mach 25 on the surface of the Shuttle Glider during launch and a fiery reentry?

So when this shuttle's floppy space blanket flopped out, the astronots had to stuff their alarmingly unpressurized gloves into the floppy space blankets, then staplegunned the floppy space blankets to other floppy space blankets, so the floppy space blankets wouldn't blow away at Mach 25 and incinerate the astronots, like Shuttles have a nasty habit of doing.

NASA astronot staples floppy space blanket
www.msnbc.msn.com/id/19242063/

Wow. All those years wasted building airplanes out of sheetmetal, when all they need are floppy space blankets! And styrofoam coffee cups, which is what the rest of the Space Shuttle is made of.

Not since Apollo 13 flew around the moon saved only by duct tape has NASA made so much fun of the sheeple. If any mechanic tried to repair an airplane with a staplegun, or build an airplane out of floppy blankets, he'd be immediately arrested and jailed in the loony bin.

If any of you homeys are in Roswell New Mexico on the 4th of July, check out my man's UFOetry world tour (banned at Gitmo), with the hollywood winning music video by Pirate News: WE NEVER WENT TO THE MOON

Alcoholic Buzz Aldrin declines cash to swear on a Bible that he walked on The Moon

Funny how NASA still can't build a videocamera that works, even at 100 miles altitude. Or can't equip Shuttles with a telescopic videocam to see the billions of stars visible in the night sky, similar to what anyone can buy for a few hundred dollars. Does that sound right to you?

Courts have the same problem. Judges call laws "opinions". Any person can appeal an opinion to a higher court, or ignore the opinion alltogether (forcing a lesser settlement out of court).

An appeal is defined as asking a higher court to opin its contempt of a lower court's opinion.

That's THE LAW.
