I agree with your general assement of John Lee. As far as why the towers fell as they did, the analysis of the structural failures of all buildings, including Bldg 7, was performed at various universities known for their schools of civil engineering including my alma mater, Purdue University's school of Civil Engineering. I graduated from Purdue's CE program in 1999. In fact when I watched the program in question on the history channel, they cited people that I actually had met during my 1995-1999 school days. It gave the "expert opinion" listed in the program some personal credibility to me because I knew a lot of these things already. To hear Purdue Professors quoted by the spokesman from Popular mechanics made me proud of my school for keeping an unbaised view of the structural failure facts.

I am so sick of hearing over and over this question: "Jet fuel can't burn hot enough to melt structural steel. So how can it be claimed that the steel failed? There must have been secondary demolitions!!!" The steel didn't melt. Nobody claims the steel melted, or if anyone did they're an idiot and should be ignored. I recall clearly my sophmore year at CE we took a class coded CE231 which is the class for introduction to steel and the behavior of structural metals. It's a required spohmore class for all CE grads. I recall quite clearly performing labs in the class with steel rods where we'd pull them apart, crush them, heat them, impact load them (swing a weight into the side of a rod and watch it shear) and twist them apart. It was a class all about learning why steel fails, and it lays the foundation of the structural courses to some later.

When steel is heated it looses what we engineers call "strength". When heated into the 2000 F range it'll eventually melt. This is what happens in steel mills. Lower temps will not melt the steel, but it will certainly weaken it. This is why fireproofing material is sometimes spray-applied to steel. All expert Civil Engineers I have read agree that the plane impacts blew the fireproofing apart and the steel started experiencing super-heating. The bar joists on the floors closest to the flames started weaking from this hellish environment, and as the minutes ticked by, the joists became weaker and weaker until failure occured. It was like watching a lab in my CE231 class come to life. This is why buildings 1 and 2 came down. It's why bldg 7 came down. The steel that was being weakened simply could not support the massive weight of the building above.

To answer your question I quoted to start this post (what got me to ranting in the first place) the north tower was hit 1st but had far less weight above the impact area. This is why the south tower falls before the north. Both buildings were mortally wounded by the impacts, but circumstances provided more time for the north tower.

And to you piratenews, I cannot respect what you are doing. While I experienced no personal loss on 9/11, I know 1 family that lives in new england that did. You insult their pain and it makes me ill. You want so badly to prove a conspiricy you grasp anything you can.
