GEEZER

Keep the Shiny side up

The seared and roasted, medium-rare lambchops with mint pesto and pan sauce, along with the pasta alfredo florentine with garlic and roasted butternut squash and a nice bottle of Zinfandel, followed a couple hours later by baked, blueberry-stuffed apples with a honey-calvados creme anglais sauce and a glass of the calvados on the side, put me in a mood to wish the entire RWED a pleasant holiday.

What did ya'll have for Thanksgiving?

Happy T-Day fellow posters.

Edit to add: Turkey, marinated. Stuffing. Potatoes, mashed; gravy available. Corn. Broccoli. Cranberry salad.

The cranberry salad is a bit different than any other I've had elsewhere. It's an old family recipe. Cranberries (1lb ideally, but a 12 ounce package will do) chopped up ( a food processor slicing blade does a nice job); an orange; a cup of sugar; an apple; walnuts 2 oz (or to taste); a stick of celery. Chop the aforementioned up. A cup of hot water and red jello (3oz size) (cherry is what we usually use).

Mix the sugar with the cranberries and sit 30 minutes; mix in the other chopped up stuff at your convenience.

Add the near boiling water to the jello; let sit in the fridge till it starts to firm a bit. After the both the 30 minutes for the cranberries in the sugar and the jello starts to set, mix and refrigerate.

It's very good, and while most folks meet it with some skepticism, if I can get them to try it, they generally like it. Even folks who normally say "But I don't like cranberries."

FINN MAC CUMHAL

We started the evening with some Martinis.

For dinner, Pan Fried Anchovies, Dolmades, pseftokeftedes with tzatziki, Greek salad with an anchovy dressing and a good white from the Peloponnese.

For dessert, Chocolate Baklava and home-made espresso.

And then afterwards, we turned up the tunes, moved the furniture to the side and danced the Lindy.

At least that was how we celebrated Thanksgiving at my place, or maybe we could call it Thanksgiving-eve. We all went to my cousin's house and let her do the whole turkey-Norman Rockwell thing today. Tomorrow, we're all going to Memphis to listen to Blues.

Thanksgivings are a big deal at the Finn house.

After three weeks of "don't want any, munge up my diet..."
THREE WEEKS THEROF.

9am, T-day morning.

"I want a turkey."

"But you said..."

"Turkey!"

"Is this a no-win situation, cause yer gonna be peeved at me either..."

"TURKEY... NOwwwwowowowoww"
(complete with stomp, glare and poutyface)

"OOH-Kaayy, Turkey it is..."

And so there was Turkey

Me, the girl, and six cats... and one small pathetic little turkey we descended on ravenously and demolished.

I fixed the extras and had em while she took a nap after, so as not to torture her *eyeroll* with my Henry VIII culinary style and eating habits...

And the cats are practically waddling about the place... heh.
(And now I get to hear "Ohhh, I ate too much, why did you listen to me..." for like a week.. women are strange creatures..)

Mashed potatoes...that's what I had. I don't hold with the dead turkey thing. The long drive there and back sucked; I hate NY traffic and the fools they give licenses to.
Thanksgiving just ain't my thang.

What's RWED just as a point of interest?

I’m sure that Geezer meant for it to apply equally to all browncoats, whether you post in the RWED or not.

I've seen it pop up in a few places, and not being generally quick on the Acronym thing, I just wasn't sure.

Thank you for your insight.
