Sure, the Republicans get challenged on their core values and hot button issues...and they answered the questions. Thats what happens when the Democrats plant questions in the Republican Debate.

I seem to remember the planted question from the Democratic Debate was whether or not Hillary liked diamonds or pearls. Perhaps she is the one seeking the wrong job.

And oh, look at that... Kerr, the retired gay General, the one all this fuss was originally kicked up over.... he's been a registered Republican for years, and only recently switched to Independant, and though he supports Clinton's position on Gay rights, does not work for her campaign, as wingnuts have claimed. So, even though the rules 'Rap claims were broken didn't exist - Kerr didn't break them anyway.

Quote:

The retired officer said his activities with the Clinton campaign are minimal. He receives e-mails from the campaign and has been invited to a fundraiser in San Francisco. He said he offered to pay "some token amount like 100 bucks" to attend the fundraiser, but as of yet has given no contribution.

"I have not done any work. Several friends asked me if I would allow my name to be listed and I agreed. She's been such a strong advocate for gay rights," he told CNN on Thursday.

He added that he had been a Log Cabin Republican for a long time and recently changed from Republican to independent in California. He said he had supported the GOP but "these guys are just partisanly homophobic."

And this is from Fox News, so no bitching that it's the leftie media spinning it.

And I specificly said above that those were softball shoddy questions, and that the Dems should have been pressed harder. Sorry, but I'm not a "2 wrongs make a right" type. It sucks both ways.

I think the main point here is that this debate was usurped by wrong-thinking individuals who have no respect for anything other than what they want. Childish horseshit has no place in these times we live in. Some of them went back on You Tube after the debate and boasted how clever their deception was. Same type of pack-mentality as when hard-core leftists refuse to allow invited Conservative speakers to speak at colleges, rush the stage at Condi Rice, boo and shout down Republican speakers, etc....they're just a bunch of sad, pathetic dis-respectful young ignorant punks, bullies & hooligans,...aka the non-sanctioned friends of the Dems. These debates really are ridiculous anyway.

So wait, it's not about the rules b/c there were no rules broken. It's not about the questions b/c none of them were loaded. It's not even about the answers b/c those were strictly up to the candidates.

It's about people who don't deserve to have a voice in their own democracy because they disagree with the all-knowing Jong.

I get it now.

Which, given the fact that he was a registered republican, is a nice indicator of how much the parties policies are driving away everyone but you remaining 30 (or is it less now?) percenters.

I especially liked the undecided republican who said the other night that she'd vote for Edwards before any of the GOP candidates.

I tried really hard to find ANY orginal source of information that indicated Kerr was a co-chair of anything.

I finally found a link to a link on Obama's website (final link in the chain here:) http://campaignsandelections.com/ia/releases/?id=6514

Apparently there was a group of military who supported Clinton and that support was recognized at some obscure meeting. Kerr didn't appear to be a speaker and possibly not even an attendee, but his name was on a list at the bottom of a press release.

Gate-crashing ? Are you still maintianing that democrats had no right to submit questions ? Or that CNN had no right to air them ? Because the rules were clear and consistent for both debates - anyone could submit questions and have them aired. The debates were NOT a private party, an idea you mistakenly cling to.

The rules of civility of this debate stated that questions were supposed to come from "likely Republican voters". Those were supposed to be CNN's rules agreed to in advance.....not Democrat plants attached to the Democrat campaigns.
If there was no deception intended, then why didn't they wear their 'Edwards for President" & "Obama for President" tee shirts when they asked the questions...like they did later on You Tube...at least that honest gesture would have been fair and "democratic".

Reposted from above

"The whole point of these ground-breaking CNN/YouTube debates is to focus on substantive questions of concern to real people and to throw open the process to a wider range of Americans all around the country. CNN cared about what you asked, not who you were. This was the case for both the Democratic and the Republican CNN/YouTube debates," CNN said in a statement issued late in the day."

(CNN) -- Monday will deliver a milestone in presidential campaign history, as user-generated video drives a debate.
At 7 p.m. ET Monday, the Democratic candidates for president will face questions sent in via YouTube. Then, on September 17, the Republican candidates will participate in the second CNN-YouTube debate.
Users can submit presidential debate questions on YouTube until Saturday. The site includes the questions sent so far along with some tips for users on on how to help get their video chosen.

July's CNN/YouTube presidential debate (

More and more plants have been shown to have been in the Clinton News Network scam of a debate, and yet some refuse to accept the facts. CNN ADMITTED it fucked up, it APOLOGIZED,and still you fucking myrmidons won't accept the truth...

The guidelines were undeniably broken, as these plants LIED ( par the course for Liberals ) to be "undecided" voters when in fact they were Clinton, Obama, Edwards supporters, as well as Jane Harman staffers and C.A.I.R. members.

"Liberally biased media"
Anything to support that ? Or is this just an opinion you seem to mistake for reality ?

"plants Democrats"
They "planted" at least one repubican in the democratic debate. And you have yet to show there were any rules that were supposed to exclude democrats. So you can't show they did anything wrong and you can't show they did anything one-sided. How did they 'plant' democrats again ??? The answer - they didn't.

"in GOP YouTube debates"
Look at that - a fact you actually almost got right. Though it implies that the GOP debates were supposed to be of, by, and for the GOPers when in fact, everyone was invited to pose questions and watch.

Don't complain when I have to post from one thread to the next 'cause you're too cowardly to address threads where you can't reply.

"I'd like to know, if the Democrats come into office, are my taxes going to rise like usually they do when a Democrat gets into office?"

"Tell me your position on gun control, as myself and other Americans really want to know if our babies are safe. This is my baby, purchased under the 1994 gun ban."

"Don't you think if we pulled out now that it would open it up for Iran and Syria, God knows who -- Russia -- how do we pull out now? And isn't it our responsibility to get these people up on their feet? I mean, do you leave a newborn baby to take care of himself? How do we pull out now?"

"you said "The entire deaths of Vietnam died in vain." I'd like to know if you plan to defend that statement, or if you're just going to flip-flop. Thanks."

Please tell me none of these are repubican talking points and language.

According to Bohrman, questions that "involve asking the candidates to defend their opposition to gay marriage and abortion," which Bohrman called "lobbying grenades," "would be disqualified by the CNN selection team." Yet, CNN gave no indication that it similarly weeded out Republican "gotchas" for the CNN/YouTube Democratic debate; indeed, several questions asked during that debate could be described as Republican "gotchas," including one in which the questioner echoed the enduring Republican myth of Democrats as taxers and spenders. CNN also aired two separate questions on same-sex marriage.

I said the same thing yesterday; that I don't debate liberal ideologues because its' utterly hopeless...they have to have the last word no matter what, and they will dance and spin because they have no answers or real values, and they hate the fact that we do. They also hate the fact the we love America....her history, her traditions, all of it, the good, the bad, the ugly too...we don't apologize for nothing. We understand there wouldn't even be a free wold today if not for America...Even Democrat Presidential candidates refuse & won't wear a simple American flag lapel pin...repeat, WON'T WEAR THE AMERICAN FLAG PIN, or put their hand over their heart to say the Pledge of Allegience ( yep ..I want that for my President)...oh no...that would indicate some measure of love for America...oh the horror to their throngs of know-nothing, pot-head liberals...can't have that@! Way "cooler" to hate your country & carry your anti-war, Bush is Hitler sign ( prepared, un-knowingly by you,... for you, courtesy of your local Socialist Worker's Party )and generally behave like low-life idiots and traitors to everything in America. They disguise it all by claiming that CHANGE is needed in all aspects of everything we once held dear and sacred...throw it out...religion, military strength & defense, self-reliance, personal responsibility, duty, honor, respect, and Creed...NO..not for them...they want to take more of my money in taxes so atheists, transsexuals, can't-work drug addicts, illegal invaders (aka Dem. voters) & welfare baby factories can acheive their goals...that's their idea of American values....and then punish, punish, punish evil corporations, and small business entrepeneurs because that represents evil capitalism. The Liberal Strongholds currently in America such as San Francisco, Massachusetts, Chicago, Michigan. et al give us a crystal clear view of what their utterly insane and disgusting agendas look like when they're fully played out. What ever happened to the normal, moderate, stand-up America-loving Dems?...Where'd they go to? Joe Lieberman, a once iconic Democrat, a man worthy of the high respect he earned for decades in American politics even by his Repub. opponents...the former Democrat VP Candidiate & near American VP has been cast out, ridiculed & cursed, and embattled politically by these Pelosi/Reid inflamed 22% popularity and approval gang of radicals. The ONLY thing that has thwarted their quest thus far for turning America into France and Gommorah has been the Republicans, even as inept & corrupt as they have been post Bill Clinton. I have to live with that fact, and it pains me and all too frequently embarasses me, but I'm really scared to death of Hillary and the rest of the Dems if their goals are allowed to be unleashed with hell-bent fury in the face of zero opposition. We all saw what Bush did with "total" political control...I fear the Dems agendas and central themes a lot more. George Soros, the money and architect of the modern Move.On/KOS-Dem. Party has effectively turned & stolen the Dem Party away from anything resembling the Dems of the past much like Bin Laden & others have tried to hijack the once-respected, major world religion of Islam for their personal use. Both are skilled in whipping up their troops into a fenzy, any frenzy, any time at all.

Hello,

If you have your account set up to do so, it will notify you whenever someone replies to your post. For instance, when I wrote this reply, it did not ask if I wanted to notify you. It either will or it won't, depending on settings. There is an option to 'override notification' which will allow me to reply in 'stealth' mode, but I would have to select this option by checking a box. I prefer to let people's own account settings stand, and I'm sure other folks feel the same way. Please don't take it as an insult. Shut off your notifications if you don't like them.

On to another note:
Quote:

THE AMERICAN FLAG PIN, or put their hand over their heart to say the Pledge of Allegience "

Contrary to the rock-solid truth of email spam, there is no candidate who has failed to put their hand over their heart while saying the Pledge.

But even if there was, I don't think it would bother me. The position of hands over hearts and bibles, the wearing of little flag pins... these are gestures like pinky-swears and spitting into your palm before you shake on a deal. If they have no significance for the person making the gesture, then they are empty gestures. Some people swear on the graves of their mothers or the eyes of their children. Again, empty gestures (unless you actually believe some supernatural force will unearth your mother or blind your children.)

We invent these meanignless gestures because it makes us uncomfortable to live in a world of uncertainty... a world where you can't really know what is in a man's heart. But no amount of gesturing will create anything but a false sense of security for us. Our best bet is to ignore these empty gestures, and look for something more real in a person's behavior and actions.

It's a much better indicator than watching the Devil swear on the Bible and thinking he's Godly, or having a Traitor wear a Pin that magically makes him Loyal to the country.

Focus on what's real. Focus on what matters.

I'm going to carry my answer from the other thread too, since this discussion seems to be spread across two threads:

-------------------
Auraptor, I really don't get your point. (Nor Kirkules' either.)

What are you more upset about: That Democrats (gasp!) asked questions of Republican candidates, or that CNN didn't background check the questioners?

AFA the first point, WHY should questions be limited to a particular Party? It wasn't apparently against the rules, so.... ? What's the problem? It seems to me that you would get the best answers from candidates if they were asked tough questions. And that seems fair to me, seeing as some states (like ours) actually have "open primaries" where anyone can vote for anyone, irrespective of Party registration.

AFA the second point: What difference does it make if "How do you feel about gay marriage?" is asked by a trucker from Nebraska or a lesbian student from Boston? Are you (and other Republicans) so weak-minded that you can't separate the issues from the individuals? If so, I suggest that you grow a set of neurons. That'll help better than whinging.

What a psychoticly deledued little temper tantrum. I hope you feel better.

Hello all,

My wife made a very good point to me today.

She asked me, "Why were there different questions for the two debates, anyway? Each of the candidates is going to have to deal with the same issues, so shouldn't they be asked the same questions?"

And, you know, I really couldn't find fault with that position.

It's the YouTube format which I really dislike, bc it turns into a gladiatorial sport. People want to put boxing gloves on the candidates and then stand around yelling Fight! Fight! like a bunch of high schoolers. I really think we need to turn DOWN the emotion of we're going to make good decisions, but that's not the direction that we're heading.

The debates arranged by the League of Women Voters asked all of the candidates the same questions, gave each of them a set time to reply and to rebut. I like that format a LOT better. I hope we get to see more of it.

Obama wouldn't put his hand over his heart when saying the Pledge recently and some of the non-koolaid media carried the story. As for the rest, I'm quite thrilled to know how much all my written truths and realities hit you. Pretty devastating to be confronted with it all at once I'll bet...and your normal reaction to mock & insult the messenger is warmly received.. You have to live with the harsh reality that everything you hope & dream for will be manifested in your decision of who've you've put in power, our leaders Nancy Pelosi & Hillary Clinton. A double-whammy from Hell if there ever was one. God help us, and a curse of locusts and boils upon you all for bringing the witches of Eastwick back to life to ruin America.

No, that's not it. Obama wouldn't put his hand over his heart for the National Anthem. Get your facts straight b4 you get all wound up over nothing, OK?

I detest both of them, as do many here of what YOU would call "liberals". Not only do you not have your facts right, you don't even know your audience. You're getting all wound up over some picture in your own head.

I have a vote and I'm not afraid to use it!

CNN recorded the highest ratings ever during the repubican debate.

To keep up that kind of bonanza they need three things - an audience, the democratic candidates, and the repubican candidates. The democrats said 'sure why not' to the debate. The repubicans had to be both shamed (the democrats agreed !) and coaxed (we'll screen your questions) to participate. And the audience had to be amused.

Is THIS how the US runs its democracy ? Might as well go back to picking people on the basis of catch phrases and slick, focus-group approved commercials.

What moveon.org did to the good general was horrific. It was inaccurate, baseless and totally gutless. Even the moveon spokesman said the AD was what was important, not their charges, which tells me it was nothing more than a PR stunt meant to get more folks to give them $$.

Regardless of the Petraus report, the network has a history which has earned it's nick name - The Clinton News Network.

"Hillary tried to get a million dollars for the Woodstock museum. I understand it was a major cultural and pharmaceutical event. I couldn't attend. I was tied up at the time." - John McCain

It is not those who use the term "Islamo-Fascism" who are sullying the name of Islam; it is the Islamo-Fascists. - Dennis Prager

I just knew you were going to do that.

So that's how you feel about the ad. Good for you. It's irrelevant. My point was what CNN wanted its viewers to feel about the ad and the liberal organization that is moveon. They called 3.2 million americans "american insurgents."

And it just isn't true that most liberals agree. I certainly don't. I donated right after congress took a swipe at them, because incase you haven't been paying attention, generals have to resign before they tell the truth. I would not have gone so far as the ad. I don't think it was helpful to use the cute phrase "betray us?", because they ahd to know every news organization was going to try to turn them into a Boogieman.

But honestly, were you waiting on the edge of your seat for Patreus to come out with a report that contradicted the Bush administration in any way? I don't think you were, and anybody that was is a little fucking naive. He takes his orders from the Commander-in-chief. That's why he still has a job.

So from my perspective Auraptor, I don't trust a President who tells the American people "we are going to wait for a report from the man who says only what I tell him to say, and I will listen to that man," and I don't trust the General who is that mouthpiece either. YOu can feel free.

So how does a "liberal" news organization, that supposedly represents lefty values end up using such charged language when talking about a liberal organization such as moveon? Hell, if CNN had a liberal agenda, they could have soothed moveons message don't you think? If they were cringing at it because it was just too hot to handle, they could have ignored it entirely, and at the very least, they could have colored their reporting to make it sound like a reasonable ad. They did nothing of the sort.

just another point,

I think I see one of your problems Auraptor. Your definition of liberal doesn't come close to mine. If by liberal, you mean "clinton news network", we are on completely different pages. I fail to see the need to label two people with a history of pro-corporate legislating, from nafta to media-deregulation, to defending the need for war with Iraq, to defending taking big lobbying money because they are "people too", anything but conservative democrats. They may be liberals at heart, though I'm not so sure, but their records are weak when it comes to earning the distinction.

Mal & Co. were liberal socialistas, bent on destroying the standing, benevolent government. They were insurgents...terrorists. They just couldn't wait to tell the tale from Miranda, spinning it to make it seem like an evil plan to create monsters!
Lucky the show and movie had pretty women-folk on 'em, 'cause I could barely stomach the lefty-thing goin on there....
