I have them both, but have not finished watching all of the episodes yet. This is such a fantastic series; brings me back to a good age for network television in the mid-nineties (though, that is not the subject of the post).

Has anyone else bought these, or recall the series from its initial run? Discussion?

Instead of Lucas wasting his and our time with new crappy Star Wars tv shows, I would love for him to revive this series. Get a new young man to play the character and get a committee of writers like before and bang out a few more of these well done episodes. Perhaps a bit more emphasis on the character itself and additional action. Allow it to resemble the films a little bit more. Find a happy medium. I would be ecstatic if Lucas got his head out of his ass and did this.

Thoughts?

Oley

Never liked the Young Indy series too much. And this is from a guy who considers "Raiders" to be the bestt film ever. Hated the kid version, and though I like Sean Patrick Flannery, the episodes always seemed to be trying too hard to be educational, at the expense of fun.

I am looking forward to the Star Wars series, though. And Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.

Same here.
I'd pick up Young Indy if the price weren't so hefty though...for my son.

Too bad Chrisisall

Me, I'm looking forward to Lucas having the heaven-sent sense to STOP trying to make movies and shows.

Sorry folks, but I put him in the same class as Uwe Boll, only more arrogant, and so downright obnxious to his own used-to-be-fans that most of them hate his guts, at this point.

Funny thing is, there's a lotta talent at LucasArts.. just, not very much of it, if any, is his - he needs to step back and let those talented folks do the work, is all.

Btw, just recently read a capsule review of "The Hidden Fortress" - I *knew* he couldn't write an original plot to save his life..

That bein said, Young Indy wasn't too bad, but ain't worth what they want for it retail, no.

Bought set 2 of young indy: The War Years and popped in a random disc and then tried to get the bonus disc with the interactive timeline to work

I noted right away that in the one episode I watched that someone had decided to edit out the wrap arounds with old Indy (George Hall) out

I watched the one ep called --- Barcelona, May 1917 [with Terry Jones of Monty Python fame as a guest star (he also was the episodes Director)] and haven't had time to watch another episode yet .. I liked the episode

The bonus disc with the interactive timeline requires one to use software that is provided by Paramount and won't work if one has DVD playing software already installed ... one can find a website that will give one a few ways to try to fix the problem but it looked too technical for me

Haven't had a chance to view any of the documentries that were filmed to compliment the episodes of the show, either. These documentaries are a lot of the content of the discs hence the cost of the sets

BTW if one roots around at tvshowsondvd.com, there is all sorts of info on the contents of the Young Indy DVDs
