"Jericho' May Return From the Ashes

Jericho, the CBS television series that was canceled because of low ratings, then revived following protests from fans, then canceled again because of low ratings, may be revived a second time, the New York Times reported today (Monday). The newspaper said that CBS may follow NBC's recent example with Friday Night Lights in which it sold the DirecTV satellite service the right to air the series before it goes on network TV. The Times said that CBS is considering a similar option in negotiations with cable provider Comcast. Meanwhile, although DirecTV executives have expressed confidence that the Friday Night Lights deal could drive new subscribers to their service, some analysts are expressing skepticism about its ability to do so and forecasting that the DirecTV episodes will wind up being pirated on the Internet."

Don't know, we even have more conspiracy theorists then they do.

I'm personally of the belief that the show has two things going for it that Mal and the gang don't.

1) It's cheap to make and to set up production. I have only seen 2 episodes but you could quite easily make something similar as a amateur movie. No complex sets, no extensive SFX in most episodes. Cheap setup means you dont loose too much if it flunks.

2) The original series was not on Fox. Fox has messed with shows and cancelled shows with ok numbers just because they were not doing as well as Fox thought they should.

Whiskey Tango Foxtrot...

-----------------------------------------------------------
There's a widow in sleepy Chester
Who weeps for her only son;
There's a grave on the Pabeng River,
A grave that the Burmans shun;
And there's Subadar Prag Tewarri
Who tells how the work was done.

Sorry to be the voice of reason, but I'm betting both shows cost a hell of a lot less to make than Firelfy.

Er... nevermind, Fletch covered that.

If successfull, though, it may encourage them to spend a bit more on other beloved, yet cancelled, shows.

When you lay it out like that it almost gets a bit depressing for me to realize (almost) that Firefly will have a difficult or near-impossible time ever coming back to TV. I'm sure the salary demands of our BDH's has only gone up with all their personal successes, and as you say...sci-fi shows are expensive.

Have a little faith. Look what happened to Stargate or even Battlestar Galactica.

Keep wanting it, write letters, sing songs, dream big, study TV production (so you can become a successful producer, get the rights, and do it your own self), etc.

Hero...you're my hero! tell you what...when me and the misses get our GOVT. REFUND check for $ 1200 on May 16 I will hold it in escrow. If all the FF Fans did the same ( avg. 600-1200 ) we could have a slush fund of $ 28 million dollars! That oughtta be enough for a few episodes at least.
