"We'll know our disinformation program is complete when everything the American public believes is false." -- William Casey, Reagan's presidential campaign manager & CIA Director (from first staff meeting in 1981)

Too often, we let all the fun drain out of our political threads. I'm one of the worst offenders here, I know.

In the spirit of lightening things up just a bit, here's an utterly and completely tasteless joke that has no business being posted anywhere, and as an Obama supporter, I'll probably get a lot of shit for it, but what the hell - we need a laugh now and again.

Okay, so Saint Peter is standing at the Pearly Gates, ushering in the worthy and rejecting the doomed. There's a long line, but one by one they make their case. One soul steps up, and Ol' Pete asks, "Who are you, and what did you do?"

Obama says, proudly, "My name is Barack Obama, and I was elected the first black President of the United States."

Saint Pete is shocked. "Holy Shit!" he says, "You've gotta be kidding me! When the hell did this happen?"

Sheepishly, Obama replies, "About twenty minutes ago..."

I laughed, I cried, I cringed. The worst part was where I read it - on a gun enthusiast website!

Flame On!

That should not have made me laugh.

Especially as I've worried about the possibility.

However, as shocked and cringing as it may have been, there was laughter, and still is as I type this. OMG.

You may say I'm a dreamer. But I'm not the only one.

*sigh IF Obama gets elected, he won't be shot. He'll just be a terrible President.

Keep in mind, I don't think McCain would do any better.

I usually have a few beers after work with co-workers & friends who frequent the establishment....then there are always some who just wander in for the day. I have been utterly amazed of late at how "casually" some people talk about the possibility of Obama getting assassinated. Some even say it as wishful thinking. Now I don't really care what anyone feels about any candidate, but wishing harm on someone is plain wrong. And I think making jokes about it is just as demented.

Sad to say, not only did this make me laugh... I was not surprised by it at all. My friend's say s he'd vote Hillary (If he wasn't only 15) because he thinks Obama will get killed right off.

yeah, so many of us are afraid of this.

Obama himself has to have had the thought. Those are big stones he's got.

I'm one of those people that reserves judgement on exactly what happened to Kennedy. I don't have enough facts to state it was aranged by part of the government, but it's fishy enough that it makes me nervous.

Of course it only makes sense to shoot somebody if you think their running mate will be less of a problem for you, so just to satisfy my tin-foil hat issues, I hope he picks somebody left of him.

but oh the cover..."black man assasinated by country bigot..."

nobody will pry.

Truth? They won't kill him because he's the perfect puppet. Easily controlled and ready to sign anything. That's why Hilary dropped out, not because she had no chance, they wanted Barak because he could be contained. They made their choice on who gets into office. Bitter? Probably. Call it cynical realism. Or call it getting mine while the getting's good.

Why was I on a gun enthusiast website? Because I'm a gun enthusiast! Yup, that rarest of all creatures, the gun-loving liberal. :)

I was looking for info on my 7.62x39mm Saiga, the "sporting" version of the Kalashnikov AK-47/AK-74. It was what was allowed to be imported during the useless Assault Weapons Ban (AWB) that recently expired. It's actually turned out to be a good li'l rifle - I think I'll keep it. I was looking into the legalities and technical challenges involved in adapting it to use high-capacity AK magazines, but it looks like it's going to be a non-starter for me. Once you do the mods, you have to make damn sure you are still in compliance with Section 922r, or ATF is likely to come knocking (or "no-knocking" as the case may be...)

I'm developing a bit of a "thing" for Soviet weaponry. It's dirt cheap and dead-solid reliable. I'll be picking up an old Mosin-Nagant M44 later this week, which I paid all of $79 for. I'm told they're actually quite accurate out to 300-400 yards, so that's nice. And I'm looking into a Romak PSL as well (I'd love a real Russian Dragunov, but the price is out of my reach - and my wife's approval - right now, at around $3000 a pop!). The good thing about the PSL is that it takes the same 7.62x54R ammo as the Nagant, so that's one less type of ammo to stock up on...

Do I *need* any of these weapons? Not really. I have a nice little Ruger P85 9mm for home defense, and I'm fairly proficient with that, but I like the challenge and discipline of the "long shot" at the range, and none of these weapons are going to go down in value.

In fact, just last Thursday, a NEW Assault Weapons Ban was introduced into the US House of Representatives. The kicker on this one is that it's sponsored by House Republicans. :(

I think it's time I move on that PSL, or a nice pre-ban AK-47.

And of course the facts that Cabinet Secretary Brown was the only pre-crash death, that crash survivor Sgt Shelley Kelly walked herself to the rescue chopper but arrived DOA of a broken neck, and the ATC for the flight commited suicide a few days later, as well as the airport maintenance chief about the same time, and that all the flight recorders were removed from the aircraft between the recent flights with Hillary and Chelsea, but before the Secretary Brown flight, mere coincindence. You are right, the C.lintons are completely innocent of everything, just mere bystanders of enormous amounts of coincidence for 20 years.

Right on. Obama's a "puppet", while almost the entire McCain campaign staff is made up of lobbyists, including Phil Gramm, who wrote the "Enron loophole" allowing energy speculators to drive up energy costs (hint: $4 a gallon gas does NOT put a bunch of money into the station owners' pockets, it makes speculators rich and falsely inflates the price of oil company stocks).

McCain is already deep in the pockets of the special interests and corporate monopolists.

I'm not saying Obama *won't* be there, but for now, he's trying to cling to some shred of integrity, something McCain gave up long, long ago.

Not sure if you are saying that you don't know haow to work this internetty thing without algore's manual, or if you need direct links to all 11 million links, or if you need me to produce the actual original copies of the autopsy film, or if your blinders prevent you from reading the secrets that 11 million of us are keeping from you in plain daylight. Caution: if you start to see, you'll become rational and conservative, so be careful. The truth will set you free of liberalism.

I can refer to facts aplenty without assist from that young whippersnapper Sean. I secretly blame him for the virtual dissapearance of the Great Barry Farber.
Of course J Edgar Hoover would never monitor or conspire against any musicians, or rockers, such as John Lennon, Elvis, Jim Morrison, Mick Jagger etc. - your prescribed instruction set should have already informed you of those obvious facts.

I believe what he's saying is that when one makes an assertion, the burden of proof is on you to prove it, not anyone else.

That's how burden of proof works. I realise as a republican, proof and burden and doing something for yourself may be alien concepts, but work with us here (of course that may also be an alien concept) :p

EDITED for readability.

More insane ramblings by the people who brought you beeeer milkshakes!

Careful - buying into those kinds of conspiracy theories might get you labeled a "liberal".
