Here's a world-famous case I'm sort-of involved in, as a reporter who becomes part of the story (like Anderson Cooper Vanderbilt should have done after Hurricane Katrina):

Cliff Clark's probable cause hearing - 2.2 hours

ry
/

This USAF vet/engineer/psycholigist was accused of shooting a redlight camera, but the grand jury has refused to indict. Such is the power of my coaching in the previous pro se preliminary hearing, without a lawyer. Basically, I gave him the same info available from www.nolopress.com and govt websites, while waiting for an interview after trial or dismissal.

No redlight camera ticket was ever sued against him. Lawyers agree, the best legal defense is to throw those tickets away and ignore them, since they lack a signature proving a defendant was served personal service of process. Thus no motive for shooting a camera.

UT kicked him out of nursing college, without a conviction. So he posted a tiny website critical of UT.
www.cliffspeaks.com

In retaliation, UT swore out a Super Secret Probation complaint for trespassing on the open public campus of 30,000 people. Can't have free speech for adult "kids", on or off campus.

A team of undercover deputies then showed up at his house to arrest him, wearing only Metallica T-shirts, no badges. They kicked in his front door, guns drawn, screaming "We're gonna shoot you!" The deputies never identified themselves as police, and testified they "always dress like criminals".

The homeowner met them upstairs with a loaded shotgun pointed at their heads. At that point the deputies ran screaming out of the house, "having flashbacks of Afghanistan". Eventually the cops decided to identify themselves as police, and the "standoff" ended and he surrendered. Then police ripped his arm out of socket and threw him down the stairs.

This hearing is on the trespass and aggrevated assault charges. He paid $15,000 to his lawyers, but it's unknown if that includes a jury trial and appeals.

He plans to sue for false arrest, and recover his investment. The ADA previously offered to drop all charges if he signed a promise not to sue contract, then withdrew that offer, claiming a ballistics test proved he shot the robocop. When his lawyers asked the DA for a copy of that ballistics report, the DA admitted there was no report.

As a result of my investigation, it was revealed that the REAL Redflex Robocop Sniper is a Knox County deputy sheriff, according to deputies. Seems that cops hate being replaced by foreign military contractors in Australia.

There's a lot more to this story that cannot be revealed at this time, due to fear of assassination by police state death squads - FOR REAL. Sort of a Rambo First Blood situation.

Hopefully the defendant will survive.
