Yanno, I bit my tongue on this a while, but let's us get an understanding of my position on some stuff

Palin's daughter - none of my damn bizness.

Palin's pregnancies - none of my damn bizness.

Palin's non-political career - I couldn't care less.

The fact that she's female - So what ?

Why do folk focus on such inane shit when real issues are there to be had at ?

Also, the whole ball of whining about whether or not McSame or Obamalamadingdong are 'technically' american citizens, I sat and thought on that a while - and in the end I don't think it matters cause when you elect a Prez, they take an Oath to serve this country and it's Constitution first and foremost, and you'll find no shortage of american citizens who broke that trust in the past.

Yeesh, sometimes I wonder if folk argue for the sake of arguing.

Actually your buddies at FoxSnooze have repeatedly said Palin was "Pro-Abortion". Guess Fox didn't think she was Bush-enough to be in the whitehouse

Yes, yes... we're all very aware that you would never, EVER stoop so low as to take a cheap shot at anyone.

Well, unless they were a Democrat.

I find it ironic, is all. Palin's supposedly pro-contraception; apparently, she's not quite vocal enough about it at home, though.

And yes, thanks to the Democrats, she COULD have had an abortion if she'd wanted to. Not that they'd FORCE her to get one.

Palin says Alaska can replace Middle East oil

I can't believe the ignorance of some people. I am from Alaska;a born and raised, and the above quote is pure rubbish. To clarify: BP sends their oil to China and Japan because the US refuses to buy it, they consider Alaskan oil foreign oil and would rather use oil from Texas and Louisianna. We don't pump anything back into the ground except water. Alaskan's pump the oil out of the ground, we have our own refineries but we still pay the highest amount for our own gas $4.34 per gallon still. BTW Alaska has the oil reserves but no one will let us drill it. Sarah Palin has no control over BP or who they sell their oil to, her husband works for them but in a very limited capacity. Sarah Palin has only been in the political scene for about 3 years, how can she be the whore that sells the oil to China when we've been selling it to them since the 1980's? For goodness sake.....grow a forebrain!

Now on to the subject at hand. At least the Palin's are coming forward with their skeletons and not trying to hide behind their political power, unlike Bill (I did not have sex with that woman) Clinton. The Palin's are a well respected family here in Alaska. I'm sorry to hear of this latest hurdle but at least they are standing behind their daughter and not attempting a cover up,they are trying to be as open and honest as possible. I doubt the press will be so kind with them.

I suspect given her record that she hired the lawyer to allow her to be open and honost with everyone without giving up her rights as a citizen and the executive of her state.

Sometimes situations like this require a delicate balancing act to make sure all the relevant material is disclosed properly. Making mistakes in response to an investigation is often the real trouble that politicians get into. Look at Libby and Clinton. Both paid penalties for mistakes in response to an investigation...not the failed ultimate goal of the investigation.

I suspect firing the guy she did was within her discretion. Legally it then becomes the other fella's burdon to prove it was for an improper reason.

I wonder how many people who want to "lay off" the daughter because of "privacy" issues were the same ones who wanted to crucify Edwards and are now busy crucifying his wife?

The other thing that kept going thru my head... Supposedly, McCain slected Palin because of her "story", not necessarily because of her qualifications. Well, she isn't a 'story", she's a TV sitcom!

I was thinking the same thing... the whole political process is being reduced to fit the mold of a tv reality show - and sitcom is not far off.

So, given the inevitable, which would you rather see - Cindy, John and the Palins - with their brood (some grown beyond their years), not to mention Bristol's beau, Levi Johnston who posted the following on his MySpace page..."I'm a f - - -in' redneck" who likes to snowboard and ride dirt bikes.
"But I live to play hockey. I like to go camping and hang out with the boys, do some fishing, shoot some s- - - and just f - - -in' chillin' I guess."
"Ya f - - - with me I'll kick [your] ass," he added.
He also claims to be "in a relationship," but states, "I don't want kids."

nice kid...

Or, the Obama/Biden crew with those cute little girls and mature adult children..?

either way the next four years are up for grabs and i suspect that the most dysfunctional family wins.... it's just good for ratings...

Your comparing a man who cheated on his cancer-ridden wife and then lied about it while soliciting money and costing Hillary votes to the mother of a 17 year-old who is pregnant by her boyfriend and didn't hide it from anybody.

I'd call them apples and oranges...but its more like apples and something so unlike apples as to be silly to even think about it...apples and diet Pepsi commericials from the 1980's or apples and page 1,243 of the Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire or maybe apples and John Edwards' mansion's next door neighbor's lawnmower (not the current one, the one he had in 1982).

There is simply no comparison.

And a fair number of those wanting to make an issue of this girl's choices are the same folks who were fussing cause Edwards 'cost' Hillary the election. Republicans never really made a big deal outa Edwards...he was a non-issue to us by the time this broke. It was the same Democrats who have so little regard for the private affairs (pun...not intended) of anyone who is not bowing at their alters.

Leave the girl be says I.

Here's a quote from an email I received today. I have to admit that I was beginning to feel that McCains choice for VP might come back to bite him, but after reading the email I could only hang my head in agreement.

Quote:

But before everyone gets all smug and self-righteous about the Palin selection, remember where you live. You live in a nation of gun owners and hunters. You live in a country where one out of three girls get pregnant before they are 20. You live in a nation of C students. Knocking Bush for being a C student only endeared him to the nation of C students. Knock Palin for having kids, for having a kid who's having a baby, for anything that is part of her normalness -- a normalness that looks very familiar to so many millions of Americans -- well, you do this at your own peril. Assuming she's still on the ticket two weeks from now, she will be a much tougher opponent than anyone expects. You live in a country that voted for Dan Quayle.

there for a while i was hoping for a sane, rational and intelligent leader in the White House... but history keeps proving me wrong.

"Your comparing a man who cheated on his cancer-ridden wife ..."

I know people are fond of repeating this, but it's not true. At the time Elizabeth Edwards was considered cancer-free and healthy.

And, you should hang your head and admit this as well - the right-wing pundits (are there any other kind ?) were going after Elizabeth Edwards - KNOWING she had incurable cancer, and even AFTER John Edwards was out of the race and it was no longer an issue - for keeping the affair secret.

Some family values you got there, bud.

I call it bullshit. Edwards made a mistake, but he 'fessed up to the only person who counts: his wife. And what about the ppl who are ripping Elizabeth? She's dying of cancer. If ppl can make excpetions for "a kid" (whose old enough to have a kid and marry) can't they give someone a break while they're dying for Chrissake? It seems to me that those who want to bring "character" and "values" into the equation should be held to the same yardstick that they hold others. But that would be too honest I guess.

You mean it's like apples and... Democrats? How was I sure you wouldn't see any similarities whatsoever? I mean, it's not like we're talking about their private lives or anything...

You say it was the Democrats who had so little regard for the private affairs of others. What was that whole Clinton/Lewinski thing about again? I've forgotten. Something about private affairs... a Republican Congress wanting to see the dress he jacked on... Yeah, something like that...

What I find funny and ironic about the whole thing is the hypocrisy, as usual. Here's the VP candidate of the "family values" party, who's supposedly pro-contraception, pro abstinence, pro no-sex-until-marriage... and here's her underage pregnant daughter.

But I guess it's different this time, huh? It always is...
