If I'm nice and I hit them with some satire, or reason, or facts, or break out my meager supply of the 'funny' and they are reduced to baseless personal attacks and sputturing incoherence...I do more then just win the argument. No need to be personal when I can't make them look any worse then they make themselves look just by their lack of grace. I'm not the only one to do this. In case you missed it Governor Palin and her family suffered days of personal attacks...and then she responded not with their own personal attack...but by making last night's speech. Notice she not once asked her family to be left alone, instead she talked about who she was, her record, and her agenda and then attacked her opponants on their record and agenda...in other words she hit them where it hurt the most and they can't respond. Now Bidon is sputtering and flip-flopping across the tv dial and Obama is begging for an interview on FOX's O'Reilly Factor. Now I started this thread to talk about Palin's speech. They are incapable of doing that without baseless attack on her or me. I win. I love a reasonable debate with folks I have genuine disagreements with. One thing I thought we all agreed upon were basic ideas such as free speech and expression. Like the protestors in St. Paul this week folk here hide behind free speech to justify course and offensive behaivor and seek to deny the right of others to respectfully disagree. I wont cede this board to the likes of them. That's why I'm here, thats why I win...that's why we can all win, even if we lose the argument. H

The problem was, there was nothing in her speech that qualifies her to be VP, as far as I can tell. She has five children, which qualifies her to be VP - unless you're talking about her pregnant daughter which is off-limits. She's a hockey mom. She was mayor of a dot on the map and governor of Milwaukee. (Er, I mean Alaska. Same population size so I get them mixed up.) She's against earmarks- except that she hustled for the money, voted against the bridge but kept the money anyway. (Did you know that Alaska get $500 per capita in earmarked funds, which is about 10X more than all other states?)

Can you not say "I do not agree with this statement for this reason"? Not "I do not agree with this statement because Hero is a sleazy, sociopathic lawyer who ain't gettin any".

He's probably the one person here who earns personal attacks, because there's very little he says that isn't personal to someone. As for being able to defend himself, well, if he's going to stand on a bell tower and spray at random, he's got to expect that someone might shoot back.

Quote:Well said. Finally an argument. (Sigh)Ok, for you a VP should be childless, not be from a small town, and not be from a small state, and should give back money she did not want in the first place, even though legally she can't because its Federal money, not State money.
