Nevada regulators closed Silver State and the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. was appointed receiver of the bank, based in Henderson, Nev. It had $2 billion in assets and $1.7 billion in deposits as of June 30.

Andrew K. McCain, a son of Republican presidential nominee John McCain, sat on the boards of Silver State Bank and of its parent, Silver State Bancorp.

The innocent one.

Four were Democrats, one was McCain. The inside story is the Democrats who controlled Congress wanted this to be a bipartisan investigation. McCain was targeted for being asked by Keating to participate and because his wife and father-in-law invested a couple hundred thousand in a distantly related shopping mall venture, a very minority stake as part of a much larger investment package that was unrelated to the Keating business.

The investigation concluded that there was overwhelming evidence that he refused to do more then was legally permissable. It was also determined that he could not be held accountable for the business affairs of his wife and father-in-law as he had no actual or constructive knowledge about it.

He called the inestigation the most personally trying time of his life (from a guy who was tortured in a prison camp).

It should be noted that Hillary Clinton, of all people, had a closer relationship to the Keating mess then McCain did through her activities at the Rose Law Firm. Obama had no known connection (he was probably too busy making friends with Chicago slum lords and that terrorist fello who bombed the capital in the '80s and writing inflamatory sermons for his minister...or perhaps practicing "his Muslim faith" ( http://washingtontimes.com/news/2008/sep/07/obama-verbal-slip-fuels-hi

I think we're up to a whopping 10 back closures this year. Compared to other financial crisis's in the past that's nothing. In 1932-33 over 9000 banks failed. During the S&L crises in the 1980's something like 1600 banks failed. Just make sure that if you have more the the FDIC insured amount in one bank that you have multiple accounts in different names.

Now the Fed just bails them out with counterfeit money from Commie China.

And Fannie Mae Freedie Mac were nationaized this week.

Enjoy your inflation tax.

Bankruptcies by banks are great for the economy. Bailing them out ain't.
