Gah, far be it for me to get some sleep once in a while...

No good deed goes unpunished, guess this is what I get for helping those bi-lingual media companies.

This is a favor for certain security folk down at Caltrans.

Normally I woulda told em to piss off, but I owe the security folk at Caltrans a favor and they called in the marker, so here goes...

Some time about two weeks ago, some numnuts looking for loot hit a storage shed owned by B.C. Blasting, a contractor often employed by Caltrans to more or less blow shit up.

Said shed was located in Floriston, CA, zipcode 96111.

Since BCB has damn piss poor security, these numnuts did not trip any sensors or leave a video record cause the facility had neither one - we're gonna be having that discussion right soon, and I might have to make a road trip to do it.

Anyhows, the bastards made off with about a dozen bags of ANFO and three cases of detonators - y'all know what ANFO is, right ?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ANFO

That shit Tim McVeigh introduced the world to via Ryder truck down in Oklahoma.

Fuck the detonators though (they look like yellow cat-5 with a knob on the end, in case someone trips over em) I think our primary concern is getting the damn ANFO back in the hands of someone we can trust with it, neh ?

It's in brown 50lb bags, looks just about like any other gardening product save for an orange, diagonal emblem near the bottom that says "1.5", and the term ANFO in big letters across the center of the bag.

It's not a very powerful explosive, and high bulk besides, but there's concerns they might try to sell this shit to some nutburger and cause a problem.

Now, ATF is offering some kinda reward, but given their history and reputation, if you call them to report a tip, you're risking having YOUR ass thrown in Gitmo simply for the sake of their convenience, as it's easier to accuse you to investigate.

Remember how Jayne's "reward" went in Ariel ?
My advice - don't make that mistake yourself.

BCB doesn't give a shit about all that, they just want their damn ANFO back, or at least off the street where they might suffer legal liability for it's use due to their poor security.

So, if you spot this crap, or know someone who has, or hear/see something of use, call it in to BCB at 530-587-8921 and let THEM lock horns with the ATF about it, ok ?

And thus ends my obligation other than helping BCB arrange some decent fucking security so this don't happen twice.

I wouldn't worry too much about it...

If these jokers did get away with about a dozen bags of AN , and it has the FO already in it , those paper bags won't last long , will they ?

Don't you just mean some ammonium nitrate of blasting grade has gone missing , along with some caps ?

Seem the detonators would have to be the much larger concern...

Just relatin what they told me, I'd presume the bags contain the AN component, and specifically formulated for explosive use.

Should look about like this, but there's no scale on the picture, alas.

As for the detonators, if we find em, dandy, if not, well they ain't all THAT much more than a damn M80 unless you *already* got somethin to set off with em, you see.

Some of the local farmers blow stumps with this stuff, it's not humongo dangerous like C-4 or nothing, but it's still something we sure as shit don't want floating around out there where the criminal element or some nutter can get their hands on it.

Called them media folks I know about ten minutes ago, and politely asked them to run the story a couple times today if they can, with the whole reward thing (apparently it's been doubled or something) and since some of em do it in spanish that might help some as far as gettin the word out.

Even if nobody saw nothin, wide area coverage might panic the folks who have it into ditching the stuff, which would be an acceptable result too, hint hint, it makes right nice fertilizer.

I also don't want the alphabet soup goons having yet another excuse to slip the leash, things are bad enough on that end as it is.

BLUENORWAY

Called Nina, Pinta, and Santa Maria.

All parties involved have very common Naval Intel names, looks like someone is trying to frame a scramble.

There is NO coincidence, involvement, though, is a complex guess given how easy it is to frame something like this.
