I believe in solving problems, not sharing them.

Palin's 'going rogue,' McCain aide says
Long-brewing tensions between GOP vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin and key aides to Sen. John McCain are spilling out in public, sources say. Several McCain advisers have suggested to CNN that they have become increasingly frustrated with Palin "going rogue," and some advisers say they wonder if the incidents in which she has gone off message were deliberate.

Hello,

I caught this on CNN as well.

I found it humorous. It seems there's a maverick in the GOP after all.

I have a vote and I'm not afraid to use it!

Here's how I see it

Palin's expensive wardrobe - the first indication it's really Palin who's running, and what's his name. This is just one of the many stories you'll see floated to 'explain' a McCain win. The theme: Palin brings new energy to the party, connects with 'the base', increases voter turnout. This is the same tactic used in 2004 - it was - supposedly - a massive influx of 'values' voters (that magically didn't show up in exit polls) that swung the vote. (Pay no attention to hacked machines behind the curtain ....)

McCain may have HIS advisors ... but then, Palin has hers. They are the same Cheney/ Rove et al crowd that crowned King George and then let him pretend to be president while they ran the country, and him, and, oh yeah, took the money and run.

Effectively they have McCain boxed in. He's already sold himself for the chance at playing president. Meanwhile, his understudy is connecting with the real powers in a way that he doesn't.

As a flight of imagination: He better not go on any hunting trips with Palin. OK - that's an exaggeration. I'm sure someone else could serve as a good example.

But age-addled McCain is to drug addled Bush, as to sociopath Cheney is to sociopath Palin - not to bad as an analogy.

Good for her. About time someone on that ticket start playing to win. I'm sick and tired of McCain's " go along to get along " mentality. He should realize that his friends across the aisle are NOT his friends.

McCain said "Can you get her out of here pleeeze"...."Rogue" once more absolves her of past adult onset retardation displays. Every new incarnation says..."that wasn't the real Palin, now this one......"

I think the distance from reality will make her arguments look solid. Nothing quite like holding your positions acountable to nothing to get that free association feel to all her mindless dribble.

It'll be great...the McCain/Palin campaign employess have been filling out resumes all weekend, I'm sure.

If McCain wins this race Palin will be the only reason he did. There's only one true Conservative in this race and if she has to drag McCain kicking and screaming across the finish line, that's alright with me. If he did'nt have Palin he'd be 20 points behind in the polls and Conservatives would be staying home on election day. Palin will bring out the Conservative base in large number while the Obama minions, confident in their victory will stay home on election day like always.

No...Evangelism standing exactly one foot to the right of Palin with racism hiding behind Evangelism will limp accross the finish line in the unlikely event of a Republican win. McCain and Palin will claim victory but God, and his misguided racist children on Earth, will have been the deciding factor.

More likely Obama will win and have a miserable time with the financial situation that nobody is really sure they have the answer to.

Pretty much the same thing either way, as I am a militant moderate, constitutional minimalist, and hate the both of em.

Just a matter of intensity and depth, you see - no point in denyin imma sort of political razorman when it comes to it, and damned quick with the blade, too.

So, while if Obama wins I'd be shavin his beard a bit for sure, if he don't, well, the shave is gonna come a little lower, a lot deeper, and far faster.

It could be said that one of my memes is to strike before the other guy clears leather, and while I seem em both as threats to my freedom and personhood, the need to maintain appearances would prevent Obama from taking drastic or immediate action on that front, but McCain, like the rest of his ilk, doesn't seem to care for the damned near illusory rules any more, and with a nutter full of zealotry egging him on from the veeps office, that's a dangerous combination that would require far more than just a little political kneecapping.

Just picture Colby Callistinson from the Renshai books with a pen, instead of a sword, and you'll get the general idea.

You should also ask Palin if the world is better off now than it was 6000 years ago.

I think the Christian God's growth planning sucks...and he/she has lousy circulation numbers, only 35% worldwide. When Buddha, Allah, and God are sitting in the boardroom and God's numbers are only 12% ahead of Allah who started out 700+ years later? Does he get chewed out by some guy with pie charts. I think we need to go over God's head.

Better yet...ask Palin if we can talk to God's supervisor! That way if we get God fired, we'll all be reffered to the nearest Buddhist. Buddha can handle the big numbers and have peace.

all the churches that Palin is known to have attended are all "Youg Earth" churches, they believe in the literal interpretation of the bible. That means she believes that the earth is 6000 years old and that judegment day is upon us. If this is true it has an effect on the landscape.

But that's what seems to pass these days.

Barry Goldwater said this about religious agendas in our Government. At the time he was addressing the Jesse Helms Dixiecrats Babble belt folks.

"There is no position on which people are so immovable as their religious beliefs. There is no more powerful ally one can claim in a debate than Jesus Christ, or God, or Allah, or whatever one calls this supreme being. But like any powerful weapon, the use of God's name on one's behalf should be used sparingly. The religious factions that are growing throughout our land are not using their religious clout with wisdom. They are trying to force government leaders into following their position 100 percent. If you disagree with these religious groups on a particular moral issue, they complain, they threaten you with a loss of money or votes or both. I'm frankly sick and tired of the political preachers across this country telling me as a citizen that if I want to be a moral person, I must believe in 'A,' 'B,' 'C,' and 'D.' Just who do they think they are? And from where do they presume to claim the right to dictate their moral beliefs to me?

And this....

"Now those who seek absolute power, even though they seek it to do what they regard as good, are simply demanding the right to enforce their own version of heaven on earth, and let me remind you they are the very ones who always create the most hellish tyranny"

And this...

"I think all good Christians should kick Falwell in the ass"

Goldwater had a libertarian inclination regarding cultural questions, which means Palin's advocacy of God leading us into Iraq might have made him sick. Goldie believed in a "muscular foreign policy backing unapologetic nationalism" which did not need God to replace our counscious recognition of a good and powerful nation defending it's interests. The drawback with Palin's God planned wars is the only way you know they're over is when you "win"?. God traditionaly has fallen short on issuing cease fire orders. And if that doesn't happen you're stuck there for one hundred years, like Iraq if McCain wins.

Christopher Buckley *DID* sneer at her lack of higher brain function.

And proceeded to get verbally and politically lynched for pointing out the emporers new suit was kinda... thin, not to mention damned expensive.

I'm of the strong opinion that the folk still supporting that ticket have lost contact with reality, and their downright vicious zealotry is just a taste of what this country would face with those people in charge.

It'd be the fucking inquisition all over again - given how nasty, how vile, and how aggressive these folk are when they're not in power, just imagine what your lot would be if they were, given that they've ripped the mask off and their true colors are shining through for all to see ?

Just look at how savagely the supposed conservatives on this very board have been in attacking anyone who dares to not believe as they do, and imagine people like that in a position to set official government policy.

And look what has historically happened in such cases.

How many more must die before folk finally realize that voting hate and fear into office results in slaughter, as often as not of the very folk who put them in power, either as victims or cannon fodder.

No, I do not like Obama, nor do I agree with his policies or support much of his platform - but if there's one thing I do know, and know well, it's history.

Do we really need another repeat of this bitter harvest of death to learn how stupid it is to support those who inevitably resort to it ?

I sure as hell don't - and for that reason, and that reason ALONE, I'd vote fucking Mephistopholes into office to prevent it.

It's no more complicated than that, folks - and every time I hear someone decry that choice, questioning my morals, sanity or patriotism for it, I am reminded quite forcefully of the manner in which those who failed to support such tyrants were treated if they did come to power, and how the people cheered it on all the while.

I suppose it might offend some folk, but looking over history, while I have issue enough with those who gave such orders, and the soldiers who followed them, no one ever seems to take issue with the jackasses that voted for, and avidly supported those policies up till the backlash came down and then pretended they didn't, or pretended ignorance or shame while cussing up their sleeves that it didn't go the way they wanted.

Well, I do.

And what I think of those folk is that they're the ultimate enablers and initiators of such horrors, and thus when I see them calling for an encore performance, I regard them with the revulsion appropriate to what they're calling for - whether they fully understand it and intend that result, or not.

Without such a horde, murderous tyrants have nothing but a big mouth and a grand plan, without folks willing to carry it out, they got nothing.

And when I see such a horde in place begging for the chance to be allowed to pull the levers, supporting someone very likely to authorise exactly that...

I regard them as *exactly* what they are.

The lynch mob, redux.

Fuck that, I'll not support that shit, not now, not EVER - and so only one option remains.

It's just that simple.

By 1950's-60's standards you are correct, but I can't think of anyone in the political world today that meets those standards. The Republican party is twice as liberal today as the Democrat party was in the 1950's. The few intellectual Conservatives around today like Newt Gingrich are social liberals. I could find fault with any of the "Conservatives" in politics today, but compared with Bush or McCain, Palin is Conservative. Let's face it there are no good Conservatives left, the 1960's ended to "true Conservative" era.

William F. Buckley Jr. was a pot smoking Conservative, I don't think people of his era would find that very conservative. Compared to the cocaine snorting Obama I think Palin is plenty conservative by today's standards.

What the fuck are you talking about? Are you just being a drama queen as usual or did I miss something. You hand out as much foulness as anyone here, if you're truly concerned about the atmosphere around here try respecting others opinions as much as you demand they respect yours.

How you can claim to have the beliefs you profess and vote for Obama is beyond me. You claim to be worried about your First Amendment rights, but support the party that after Oklahoma City implied G. Gordon Liddy and Rush Limbaugh were partially responsible for speaking negatively about the government. If Obama is elected and the Dems hold both Houses of Congress we will see the return of the "Fairness Doctrine" and more political correctness gone wild. I guess your idea of free speech is speech you agree with.

You claim to support the Second Amendment, but support the most anti-gun candidate in American history. You're just willing to piss away your rights because of an imaginary threat from Republicans when it's the Dems that are the real threat to your rights. I hope the pittance in Government handouts you get under Obama is worth selling out your ideals.

You are such a dumbass.
all the churches that Palin is known to have attended are all "Youg Earth" churches, they believe in the literal interpretation of the bible. That means she believes that the earth is 6000 years old and that judegment day is upon us. If this is true it has an effect on the landscape.

Wow, such insults. Then why, as a daughter of 2 educators, is she ok w/ the teaching of Evolution in schools ? I think you believe more B.S. from the Daily KOS than you do fact.

Why would she even have to be "ok" with teaching evolution?

Again - the stupidity in that statements is unbelievable.

Tell me, Kirk,

In the last eight years, how has that freedom of speech, freedom of association thing gone, when merely recieving a phone call from a relative in the middle east is enough to be send to gitmo over, if it takes even that.

When we pre-emptively bust peaceful protestors and charge them with terrorism for daring to speak out against the crimes of this administration.

How bout the right to privacy, hows that gone, what with the damn alphabet soup boys spying on every damn thing, and of course, after using foreign threats to justify it, direct it primarily at americans, yeah.

Or how bout Habeus Corpus, or the Fourth Amendment, they're doing real fine under this administration, ain't they ?

And of course, the capper, deploying active duty us armed forces under the command of homeland security on american soil with the intent of suppressing the peoples ire at being shat upon by a party that promises to stand up for them - but in fact sees them as naught more than peon slave labor or cannon fodder.

Fuck that, fuck you too for being dim enough to believe the shit your shovelling in spite of massive amounts of evidence all around you, while calling for another truckload.

I know damn well the Dems are every bit as toxic, and I've never been shy about saying so, but at this point in time our country is dying from your brand of koolaid and the only path that doesn't lead down the road to our destruction is to use one poison as an antidote to the other in order to buy enough time to bring about a real solution.

I am under NO illusions about either party, which you are, as your willfull and intentional blindness shows, I know damned well the Democrats take that whole PC, Hate Crime, Don't Offend Somebody shit to ridiculous levels, but you know, I just don't see THAT as harmful as waterboarding people to death for being of a difference race, culture, religion or personal philosophy - which we do, let's not fucking deny it, you use that method, you lose some of em, it's a fact.

And I know damn well they're a buncha gun-grabby-happy little shitheads with no respect for the Second Amendment, but frankly, the Republicans ain't held too good on that line themselves lately, have they ?

And one of my local DEMOCRAT reps, is actually a staunch bulwark in it's defense, while many lip service republicans help write and sign bans, so you can't show me a dimes worth of difference between em in the end now can you ?

Look around you, at the carnage, crumbling infrastructure, economic devastation, rabid desperation and a social and political divide so deep it's got all the precursors of a second civil war, two quagmires that were pointless to begin with chewing up our resources and folk for no reason but to enrich the people who really run both of these parties when it comes to it, hated by most of the globe, when they're not laughing at how stupid and petty we are...

Do you think that's all the fault of ONE MAN ?
Oh hell no.

That whole damned party marched right in step, banging the drums and cheering the whole while, and even now that the rats start realizing that boat is sinking, plan to not only go down with the ship, but to pretend it never sank ?
That is madness.

Face the facts, as a country, we've dug ourselves into a damn deep hole - and you're tellin me you wanna support the jackass who's only thought to it is to bring in a backhoe ?
More of the same ?

I'd rather throw it to the guy who just MIGHT have sense enough to put down the shovel - I've no illusions that he or his party can or will turn it completely around and make it all happy happy again, we're fucked too bad for that, and a great many of them supported most of the same dumb shit the Republicans also did that landed us here.

I meant what I said earlier, as strongly as I've ever meant anything, I hear the brownshirt horde calling for an enabling act, shilling for a high chancellor to come save them from the disaster while ignoring the fact that they're pushing for the very folk who created it.

And I will not, CAN NOT, support that - I know too much history to like what lies down that road.

I find Obama despicable too, never said otherwise, but him and his party are gonna be busy trying to clean up the mess for a while before they get their own "grand plan" rolling, and all the while imma be pouring sand in the gears, believe it.

And yanno, I wouldn't mind some help with that, but it seems rather than take the path of wisdom, not matter how galling or unpalatable, you wanna go rearrange the deck chairs and listen to the band play while trying real hard to ignore that splashing sound.

And so you go right on and do that, me, imma be busy keeping the OTHER set of idiots from wrecking things as bad as yours have.

Well ya know...veal is tender and lean. Trick or Treater Scallopini might be tasty. Instead of tasting like grass or corn they'd taste like Snickers.

If I had another horseape we could drag groups of them at one time in a bigger net. Okay....

Meaning it's a non issue w/ her, so why is it an issue with you ?

As one who has argued and debated against the pea brained Creationist, even I find your fear of Palin to be laughable.

Speaking of galling and unpalatable...

Locally we've decided to send a message by showing up at the polls with a clothespin on our nose to indicate our displeasure with the stinky choices we have available.

You're welcome to echo that sentiment in your own polling area if you like, and I figured I would share the idea.

"Rogue" = donate the ship to charity. Then strip Palin naked, donate the clothes, and make her walk the plank.

You know what?...I bet that really turned on a bunch of Republicans. Anyway...she hasn't been wearing the expensive clothes. In Florida this weekend she was wearing vintage clothes = much cheaper.

Since Halloween is on the way...I have a nightmare for you...Sarah Palin, Vice POTUS.
