Quote:

QED International/Lionsgate's Bush biopic sank 58% to No. 8 with $1.5 million Friday from 2,050 dates for what will probably be a $5.2M weekend. The $30M negative cost film should end up with $23M domestic box office gross by the end of its North American run. That means, with a $25M P&A investment and Lionsgate's distribution fees, the film won't recoup.

Alex Jones' Review of Oliver Stone's "W"

Oliver Stone knows Jr Bush perped the 9/11 Massacres, and is evil beyond imagination.

But Stone had nothing to do with this pathetic propaganda placement, selling W as an idiot savant, "just misunderstood". Stone was just a jewish frontman. In reality Stone was nowhere near the set, drunk, coked up with his 2-whores-a-day habit, trying to stay out of jail.

Platoon and JFK were great documentaries, then he got stalked by police state death squads to STFU, then made Nixon and World Trade Center to rehab his resume for the NWO.

Stone's JFK is what got Congress to declassify Operation Northwoods. Without Stone, we would never have seen the Pentagon-CIA's signed confession to false-flag terrorism, domestic assassinations and hijacking fake CIA airliners by remote control.
http://abcnews.go.com/US/story?id=92662&page=1
www.gwu.edu/~nsarchiv/news/20010430/doc1.pdf

So Stone earned his coke and whores.

CIA agent and convicted Nixon Watergate burgler E Howard Hunt confessed to assassination of JFK Sr in Operation Northwoods/Mongoose as reported in Stone's JFK:
www.infowars.com/?p=5488

E Howard Hunt and convicted Watergate burgler Frank Sturgis were found guilty in trial by jury of the JFK murder: Hunt v Marchetti and liberty Lobby, United States Court of Appeals, Eleventh Circuit, 824 F.2d 916.

What? Are we surprised? Oliver Stone tends to take a very superficial view of the facts and a very inaccurate portrayal of celebrity/political figures. He basically created the JFK assassination conspiracy, which many people bought into only to find that they were fools when nothing he said played out. The only reason he's not a propagandists is because his films are so inaccurate it's impossible to even take them serious enough to be propaganda. He did the same thing with The Doors. This is a trend with him, so no one but the most ardent Bush Hater is really going to take this film seriously, and ardent Bush Haters are idiots anyway. It's not surprising to me that this film bombed.

I watched it last week,

parts were quite funny in a sad sort of way,

the irony I suppose was that I watched Powell cross party lines to support Obama earlier the same day, and the movie portrayed him as being the only voice against Bushs war in Iraq, but pushed in by Cheney and the others.

not a bad movie, but the timing ( probably fixed to the election ) may have been a bit early.

Pardon the interruption Finn. But do you have the same disdain for Obama haters? Joe Biden haters?...and do you hate the people who hate Bush? This is a real question, not an accusation just so you know.

I have noticed a lot of hatred coming from the McCain campaign in these final desperate days. Now, I know this thread is about "W". I didn't go see the movie because I just don't have the time, but would like to go.

Don't interpret low box office sales for "W" to mean that Americans don't hate Bush. That's a dread Fox News tactic...reading all sorts of positive meanings for Republicans into why people did, or did not watch something.

Lastly...on a lighter note sir...what part of the Doors was inaccurate. I read "No one here get's out alive" a long time ago but can't remember the inaccuracies in the movie. Also, Stone very openly claims artistic license with his movies and nothing he ever says implies biographical accuracy.

And the assumption that everyone in the US is as narrow minded as Bush Haters is Bush Hater tactic. But the reason’s the movie bombed has nothing to do, nor did I claim it so, with popular opinion of Bush, but rather with the lack credibility of Oliver Stone.

I don’t have that information in front of me, but if you look into it, you’ll find that people intimately familiar with Jim Morrison and The Doors saw the movie as having little connection with reality.

What I'm about to say may amaze you, and I can't believe I'm about to say it...but George Bush has been scapegoated, for the war, and the economy. He was pushed into any war...anywhere...to find Bin Ladin, by an American people Conservative and Liberal bloodthirsty for revenge. Then when things got more complicated than a John Wayne movie the media, the left, and some of the right backed the bus up over him. And the economy...would the economy not be great all the time if the Executive Branch had the capability to make it so?

However...here comes the "but"...Bush has failed to pull himself together and restore confidence, not for lack of trying, but because of inabilities, not disablilities. Which means it was irresponsible to elect an unintelligent President. We may not have known that in 2000, but we knew it in 2004! George Bush didn't engage in overselling himself anymore than our Presidential Election process demands. So I can recognize his failures without indulging my desire to hate him.

I think a lot of Bush critics that you may be calling haters just have an opinion about Bush all wrapped up into an annoying little failure of a scapegoat. In the hopes of not putting words in your mouth, I can see how this Election timed movie "straw that broke the camel's back" would tick me off if the situation were reversed.

That’s an intelligent and fair criticism of Bush, and I wish that there were more people willing to think that way. I think the Bush administration underestimated the willingness of the US to support a war in Iraq. I think they had a good reason to invade Iraq, but it was a reason that was way too complicated for a US public that thinks in sound bites, and I think there was a degree of mismanagement in the war from the beginning, because they were too concerned with popular opinion. And probably the biggest problem with the Bush administration is that they didn’t address the nation enough. They were too concerned with popular opinion, but at the same time weren’t willing to get out there and campaign for their ideas, which left crazy people to define the argument – and that’s what ended up turning everything against the Bush. Bush is not unintelligent. He’s quite a smart man, and unfortunately he made the mistake of assuming that popular opinion was going to err on the side of educated discussion when instead it erred on the side of “Bush is a doodoo-head.”

wait a second mal...

I don't even get that line of thinking, that somehow Bush was pushed into Iraq as an 'any' war. We got a war, we got Afganistan, and we would have been happy to continue with that operation until Bin Laden was found.

It was Bush and his people who used the public's outrage and shifted it to a place where it didn't belong.

If he's a scapegoat, he's PNAC's scapegoat. I'm all for accepting that he's a tool, but in this case, it also means he's a prick.

FREMDFIRMA

I posted this in another thread, but it's oh so appropriate to this conversation that imma crosspost it here as well.
-----------------------------
Christopher Buckley *DID* sneer at her lack of higher brain function.

And proceeded to get verbally and politically lynched for pointing out the emporers new suit was kinda... thin, not to mention damned expensive.

I'm of the strong opinion that the folk still supporting that ticket have lost contact with reality, and their downright vicious zealotry is just a taste of what this country would face with those people in charge.

It'd be the fucking inquisition all over again - given how nasty, how vile, and how aggressive these folk are when they're not in power, just imagine what your lot would be if they were, given that they've ripped the mask off and their true colors are shining through for all to see ?

Just look at how savagely the supposed conservatives on this very board have been in attacking anyone who dares to not believe as they do, and imagine people like that in a position to set official government policy.

And look what has historically happened in such cases.

How many more must die before folk finally realize that voting hate and fear into office results in slaughter, as often as not of the very folk who put them in power, either as victims or cannon fodder.

No, I do not like Obama, nor do I agree with his policies or support much of his platform - but if there's one thing I do know, and know well, it's history.

Do we really need another repeat of this bitter harvest of death to learn how stupid it is to support those who inevitably resort to it ?

I sure as hell don't - and for that reason, and that reason ALONE, I'd vote fucking Mephistopholes into office to prevent it.

It's no more complicated than that, folks - and every time I hear someone decry that choice, questioning my morals, sanity or patriotism for it, I am reminded quite forcefully of the manner in which those who failed to support such tyrants were treated if they did come to power, and how the people cheered it on all the while.

I suppose it might offend some folk, but looking over history, while I have issue enough with those who gave such orders, and the soldiers who followed them, no one ever seems to take issue with the jackasses that voted for, and avidly supported those policies up till the backlash came down and then pretended they didn't, or pretended ignorance or shame while cussing up their sleeves that it didn't go the way they wanted.

Well, I do.

And what I think of those folk is that they're the ultimate enablers and initiators of such horrors, and thus when I see them calling for an encore performance, I regard them with the revulsion appropriate to what they're calling for - whether they fully understand it and intend that result, or not.

Without such a horde, murderous tyrants have nothing but a big mouth and a grand plan, without folks willing to carry it out, they got nothing.

And when I see such a horde in place begging for the chance to be allowed to pull the levers, supporting someone very likely to authorise exactly that...

I regard them as *exactly* what they are.

The lynch mob, redux.

Fuck that, I'll not support that shit, not now, not EVER - and so only one option remains.

It's just that simple.

-Frem

It cannot be said enough, those who do not learn from history, are doomed to endlessly repeat it

I'm not convinced Bush had any real alternatives to where he steered us all. Pakistan? No we had Mushareff who promised us orgasms. Afghanistan? A-OK. Saudii Arabia? No, frickken NO! Yemen...No

It was actualy the Russian failure to communize Afghanistan that kept the US from commiting enough troops to get hornswaggled, thanks USSR!

So here we find, and hopefully agree on, Bush's failure. In Iraq Bush found what he thought would be a war of attrition securing a gratefull new Islamic country from which to declare an honorable victory. Something McCain promises today, thus his desperation for surge validation. If everyone thought McCain had a huge surge it would make him feel really good.

So Bush really had no choice if he was to secure any type of victory that resembled what some of the American people expected of him.

Here is a question though...if there were no Iraq...would our economy still be fucked? as bad I mean?

I remember the climate being crazy mal, but we were still a people consolidated behind our President...we wanted him to get Bin Laden, and we trusted taht he was going to place our national security at the forefront of his policy, be it war or peace.

I dont' know that the populace at large was screaming for more war, and even if it was, that's when leadership is supposed to fucking matter. Its when you take the lead and reasure the people the best course is not reactionary bloodshed.

So damn straight I blame him. He applied for a leadership position. He was voted in in good faith that he could fill that position. He then misled the American people into thinking there was a dire need to go into Iraq. That's why we were all for it, (including my dumb ass), because we were sold a bill of goods.
