Anyone here ever read TransMet?

Is it just me, or is Obama reminicent of the "Smiler" character?

Where is Spider Jerusalem when we need him?

There are other Smilers of which Barack-O is reminiscent...

Like this guy :

"...It is often said that I share the politics of Alfred E. Smith and the ears of Alfred E. Neuman."
--Mr. Obama , Oct. 16th , 2008

Not much of a Smile on this one , but the resemblance is still 'striking'...
http://www.moonbattery.com/archives/2008/05/obamas_communis_1.html

"...Frank Marshall Davis , Obama's childhood mentor, was a racist kook and member of the Moscow-controlled Communist Party USA. The poetry he would read to young Obama included lines like "Smash on, victory-eating Red Army." Davis believed that American and British "rich industrialists" wanted Hitler to win WWII, so that communists could be oppressed. Nonetheless, the Hitler-Stalin pact did not cause him to leave the Party. His poetry documents his vehement hatred of Caucasians, capitalism, Christianity, and America. In Dreams From My Father, Obama quotes Davis's advice not to "start believing what they tell you about equal opportunity and the American way and all that ####."

" Sam Graham-Felsen runs Obama's blog. As noted earlier, he is a communist who shares Obama's philosophy of keeping the rhetoric toned down until power has been seized."

I'd wager, in this instance, that Spider would not be on your side in this....

WARNING: BRIEF THREAD-JACKING!

Speaking of sides, H.K....a month or 2 ago, in another thread (the topic of which totally escapes me), I wrongfully and without prvocation/justification got in your face in an exchange you were having with another poster. I was way-and-the-hell out of line, and - though you may well have forgot all about it - I hope you will accept my apology.

PS - Saw some of your photography on another site you provided a link for. You're brilliant.

It was like that when we got here!

Love Transmet, but no, I don't think Obama is much like The Smiler.

Ellis did think that John Edwards was eerily close, though.

Actually, I think Spider would agree.

Never give those in "power" an inch. Take them to the mat, and shake loose whatever they've got hidden.

No matter if its the first black president, or the first martian.

Those in power must ALWAYS be forced to remember who they answer to.

Given that Ellis was never secretive about Spider being a reflection of himself and his views (if you know much about they guy, they are pretty much the same), and the fact that he supports Obama, I doubt you are correct.

From Ellis' blog, pre-election:

Quote:

As earlier stated by many of my friends here in Britain: America, do NOT fuck this up today.

And post-election:

Quote:

I’m delighted. Nice work, America. You got your country back.

And just imagine: now, when you travel to Europe, you won’t have to tell people you’re from Canada.

Sorry to burst your bubble.

I was speaking of the character, not the creator of the character.

And as I said - he has always been clear that the character is essentially him, and shares his views. Sorry to break it to you, but I Warren likes him, Spider would, too.

If you say so.

However, I doubt someone like Spider would give ANYONE a free ride.

I won't.

Neither should you.

Free ride, certainly not. Just not hating the guy before he has a chance.

Give me a break.

I don't hate the guy.

I don't KNOW the guy enough to hate him.

The I appologize for the mischaracterization.

Aimee will be fronting AUSTIN CITY LIMITS on November 15th , ahead of Iron and Wine...

Thanks for the heads-up - I'll see if I can get tickets! Last time I went to Austin City Limits, it was to see Richard Thompson. Simply amazing. And free beer. :)

Iron and Wine is fantastic. Sam Beam has relocated to hear, and now lives out in Dripping Springs, right outside Austin.

DangGit , Mikey , I'm sorry , Buddy !

They taped the show in September !

Honestly , I've been watching for several years , wishing and hoping , and wondering , why don't they put her on...

Naturally , they did it when I wasn't looking...

Should've never let my guard down like that...

I did spend a whole day with her and some of the band-mates , once , and had the best seats at the show...I'd love to repeat anything akin to that...

An aside , Aims voted for Obama...Still love her though...

She gets out to SXSW , seems to be gaining ground there...

I saw I&W on the tube before , and liked 'em , but haven't seen them live...

Remind me , just gotta tell you 'bout these kids from Tyler...
