Sarah Palin offered $2 million to appear in porn film

Husband Todd offered $100,000 and a snowmobile if he'll co-star, says Florida adult film producer

U.S. Republican vice presidential nominee Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin talks with the media outside the Mocha Moose Espresso.

Alaska Governor Sarah Palin has received her first job offer since failing in her bid to become vice-president of the United States, and it comes with a large cash offer. Florida-based porn director Cezar Capone has offered to pay Palin $2 million to appear in an adult film production.

Capone, who calls himself "the king of all MILF films," promises in an open letter on his website that the film would be distributed internationally, shot in high definition, and feature a "beautiful mother recognized by all of America ... as the most desirable woman over 40."

To prove he's serious about the offer, Capone says he's prepared to hold the money in escrow immediately.

To sweeten the deal, Palin's husband Todd has been offered a co-starring role in the production, for which Capone would be "prepared to kick in an extra $100,000," and a new Arctic Cat snowmobile.

Palin hasn't publicly responded to the offer, which was sent to her administration office in Juneau, Alaska on Nov. 6.

Capone has previously released such films as Agent Filthy 0069, High Definition and Sophia Revealed, none of which featured any senior members of the U.S. Republican Party.

Hustler Magazine recently released a spoof Palin porn video titled Nailin' Paylin, which was referenced in a now-infamous YouTube prank call made by Montreal shock jocks the Masked Avengers in the final days of the U.S. election campaign.

I don't think he's saying she's "only" qualified to be a porn star. Any reasonably attractive woman could star in porn. Few pornstars could be elected Governor or pursue careers outside of porn...such as rocket science.

What Hustler did was a deliberate insult. What this fella did was probably as legitimate an offer as anyone is going to get from the porn industry.

Isn't it still an insult to make such an offer, publicly, full well knowing she would never consider accepting? All it does is cast a certain image of her in the public eye, an image that bears a particular contrast to the dignity a person holding a public office would want to project. In particular, someone who identifies as socially conservative.

It doesn't strike me as a "legitimate offer". It wasn't even made privately to her, but to her office and with an eye to publicity. It strikes me as insult and purposeful objectification.

I do not even like the woman, but this ruffles my feathers enormously.

It's the perpetual trashing of any woman, minority, etc who the Dems consider " their" territory" . Justice Thomas is an " uncle tom " , because he's a black man who achieves w/ out the use of affirmative action. Same w/ Colin Powell ( until he endorsed Obama ) and Condi Rice. 3 black Americans who achieved great personal and professional success, who the NAACP simply revile. Well, same goes for Palin. All the time when Hillary was in the White House, any time anyone had something negative to say about her, the Libs auto response was " you just can't stand a powerful, smart woman ": However, when the shoe's on the other foot, suddenly the accomplished, self determined woman is now fair game for being ridiculed, and ,it seems , equated to a porn star.

You champions of women's rights and for advancing the cause , you folks really have outdone yourself. Congrats.

Yes, thats the point. Its "as legitimate" as that industry is capable of. They see women in a certain light, sexual exploitation, but not political.

Hustler, on the other hand, is making a political statement not all that far removed from what Tina Fey was doing.

I disagree. Hustler wasn't hiding the insult, it was exploiting exactly the kind of kink felt by people and voiced by people in this thread. It didn't pretend that Sarah Palin would be fine with it. It didn't make a mockery of contact and interaction with her.

The "offer" on the other hand pretended at legitimacy - and I do think that like in any other business, offers in the porn business CAN be legitimate and respectful, even if it involves sex work. A porn actress can be legitimately offered a part in a porn movie. It is her choice to be in the business. She'd probably be glad. Hell, a random person who has not given off credible evidence to the idea that they would definitely decline can be made a legitimate offer. Because they MIGHT say yes.

THIS wasn't one, because it masqueraded as an "offer" while really trying to do something else.

It is absolutely beyond the Pale, frem and How Dare You!

She's a household face, and is well qualified to be a daily TV personality, either flipping letters or showcasing...hell, maybe even a daily soap role, or commercials.

and my favorite idea of them all was a novelty show called "Ask Sarah." That would surely be a hit, and a piddly two million is an insult compared to how much she could be raking in for sharing with us her understanding of things, like say "how God Power keeps water from floating off the earth," or "how our ancient ancestors might have lived side by side dinosaurs, and which ones could be potty trained," or "What is a Maverick, and can you explain it without using derivatives of the word?"...etc.

It would be a classic, and she would further be beloved.

Kinda funny - no matter how over the top or tasteless the bashes on Obama were coming from y'all we were expected to suck it up in the name of good humor, and yet y'all cannot reciprocate.

I say that's hypocritical.

Yes, I mocked her as unqualified to be veep, and if any of you ever actually listened to anything I said, you'd note that IMHO, *nobody* is.

On the other hand, EVERYONE's qualified for Porn, even John Wayne Bobbitt!

And yes I think she's a damn fine lookin woman, and other than being bughouse crazy, prolly has other worthy qualities - what was it Jayne said ?

"Cute too, course I don't think she's all there... but then, not all of her has to be!"

She put HERSELF on the public stage, and ridicule, papparazzi, parody, comes with that, let's not pretend that it don't - if you're unwilling to face the heat then ya shouldn't have walked into the kitchen, neh ?

Lemme put it to you this way, for ME to handle someone with kid gloves and avoid offense to em is an insult - has no one gotten that by now ?

If I bust your chops it means I think you can take it, and while she's left the door open to bust her chops on a lot of things, her courage certainly ain't one of em.

So suck it up and deal, instead of shovelling false outrage in a transparent attempt to justify your own pathetic snivelling.

Oh yeah, and quit letting me bait you so easily, it's fuckin embarassing.

AgentR,

I fail to see what about it would ruffle someone, perhaps because I don't really have those kind of warped mental processes that require viewing a biological act which is in fact furtherance and celebrant of life... as something foul, bad or evil.

And if you look at how messed up folks like that really are underneath - I would say that I am probably better off for it.

In no way would I find an offer like this offensive, and would kindly appreciate and decline it, or even toy with them and pretend to want more money... but offended ?

For the love of mercy, why ?

And yes, I felt YOU deserved a response, cause you seem to have a legit gripe - most of the rest of em really don't care for having the same thing they love dishin out fed back to them, do they ?

If finding a woman sexually attractive is a damning offense, we're all goin to hell, I tellya.

I have no problem with sex or pornography (or prostitution), I assure you. If I thought this offer had been made in good faith, neither would I have a problem with it. If it had been made to a figure less obviously not interested, that is.

(And, btw. when I said "kink" I didn't mean it in a derrogatory way, either. I can perfectly see why Palin is attractive. She looks great!)

My point of contention was that the offer was playing with the negative attitudes about sex and pornography in society and ignoring what would obviously BE Palin's reaction. It wasn't trying to be positive about anything. In the manner with which it was made, it is obvious to me that it was intended as an insult to her. It's the spirit and manner of the action I find offensive.

Edited for typo and to thank you for taking the time to respond.

MSNBC Retracts False Palin Story; Others Duped
Network runs correction on air after reporting an adviser to John McCain had identified himself as the source of an embarrassing story about Sarah Palin, information stemming from a hoax.

AP

Thursday, November 13, 2008

NEW YORK -- MSNBC was the victim of a hoax when it reported that an adviser to John McCain had identified himself as the source of an embarrassing story about former vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin, the network said Wednesday.

David Shuster, an anchor for the cable news network, said on air Monday that Martin Eisenstadt, a McCain policy adviser, had come forth and identified himself as the source of a FOX News Channel story saying Palin had mistakenly believed Africa was a country instead of a continent.

Eisenstadt identifies himself on a blog as a senior fellow at the Harding Institute for Freedom and Democracy. Yet neither he nor the institute exist; each is part of a hoax dreamed up by a filmmaker named Eitan Gorlin and his partner, Dan Mirvish, the New York Times reported Wednesday.

The Eisenstadt claim had mistakenly been delivered to Shuster by a producer and was used in a political discussion Monday afternoon, MSNBC said.

"The story was not properly vetted and should not have made air," said Jeremy Gaines, network spokesman. "We recognized the error almost immediately and ran a correction on air within minutes."

Gaines told the Times that someone in the network's newsroom had presumed the information solid because it was passed along in an e-mail from a colleague.

The hoax was limited to the identity of the source in the story about Palin -- not the FOX News story itself. While Palin has denied that she mistook Africa for a country, the veracity of that report was not put in question by the revelation that Eisenstadt is a phony.

Eisenstadt's "work" had been quoted and debunked before. The Huffington Post said it had cited Eisenstadt in July on a story regarding the Hilton family and McCain.

Among the other victims were political blogs for the Los Angeles Times and The New Republic, each of which referenced false material from Eisenstadt's blog.

And in July, Jonathan Stein of Mother Jones magazine blogged an item about Eisenstadt speaking on Iraqi television about a casino in Baghdad's "Green Zone."

Stein later realized he'd been had.

"Kudos to the inventor of this whole thing," Stein wrote. "My only consolation is that if I had as much time on my hands as he clearly does, I probably would have figured this out and saved myself a fair amount of embarrassment."

Ironic, innit - and no one can blame those evil democrats for it given that it was a McCain staffer and "Faux news" that reported it, ehe ?

Anyone payin attention might have noticed I got a beef with news sources endlessly copy/pasting each others stories or someone's press releases instead of actually spending the time and effort to investigate and report themselves, yes ?

And THIS, is why - anyone with access can slip in a bogus story (something the OSP played upon heavily not long ago) and unless someone DOES pay attention, DOES investigate and attempt to verify, no one is ever gonna be the wiser, I've done it myself twice on non consequential "human interest" crap just to prove it to local students interested in journalism.

People are far too forgiving of the crap the mainstream media sells, very little of it is even vetted, much less investigated or muckraked anymore, which makes it pathetically easy to blow the lies to powder cause they don't even plant a decent backtrail anymore, why bother if no one's even gonna look for one ?

That's why you DON'T give em a free pass, folks.

Snark aside, thanks for the headsup here, RL, but if any of you folks had DONE YOUR HOMEWORK, you'd have known this claim was bogus like... four days ago, mind.

Let that be a lesson to ya.

Oh, and I *still* completely fail to see the insult in being offered a starring role in porn, frankly, I don't think I'm capable of even understanding WHY someone would be insulted, guess I lack the mental aberrations that would require... oh well.

Analogy: How about offering a really awesome, deliciously cooked meal of meat to someone you full well know is a vegan. Really rude.

Only with the added value that the vegans whose values she represents - and everyone else, too -will inevitably HAVE to picture her devouring that piece of meat, because they are biologically wired to do so. In a society where eating meat has long been - wrongly, yes, but no less factually - associated with denigration, immorality and an either/or relationship to intelligence and capability.

All that latter stuff wouldn't matter, though, if the offer hadn't been made full well knowing the person is a metaphorical vegan. It's not an offer in good faith, it's an offer made to make a point, and considering how the biologically-wired public is going to react, and they made sure they would know about it by sending the offer to her office, it seems likely to be a mean-spirited point.

I'm honestly wondering whether you have to have experienced what it's like to have to choose between sex and respect, but it's been real in not-too-recent past and it's still often real today. Seriously, reveal yourself as a sexual being to your male coworkers and in some places how they treat you really changes. Hell, don't even bother revealing, the sexual element can often immediately be part of what should be professional judgment.

"I would totally do you", not really flattering, coming from someone you associate with professionally, uttered in a "professional" context. It's eerily familiar to "Oh hey, you almost became VP! And btw, we want to see you naked in porn!" Making it a public offer is the wrong context, the same way a lewd sexual reference would be in an office environment. It puts the recipient in a spotlight about something private. Send the offer to her personal address where the public won't know about it and I'm your biggest fan! But this? Disrespectful.

If more women were in powerful positions of the kind she holds and maybe aspires to, this would be funny again, or public officials regardless of gender were made porn offers if they aren't awful-looking. But considering that there aren't, it just feels insulting. I don't think it's funny yet. It hopefully will be, one day.

God, I feel awful for going on about this. This was my last.. uh, speech on the subject.

Actually, most of the reporting on MSNBC I heard, was pretty responsible. They all said that they couldn't corroboarate the claim, but that the information WAS coming from a Mccain insider, and wheter or not the story was true, what did this say of the campaign setting up in a circular firing squad.

I certainly at no point on these boards, have posted that she didn't know Africa was a continent. There are plenty of corroboratable stories of herincompitence to go with.

Still, not a lotta sympathy however given that part of that value set is tolerance and I didn't see a lotta that - kinda like watching a proclaimed vegan gnawing on bacon, it takes a chunk out of the credibility of the one claiming those values to see them not hold to em, but yeah nobody's perfect, so I get where you're coming from, sorry for bein dense.

I *DO* however understand the idiotic male reaction you describe, being a player of online games, it's almost pathetically funny to watch how FAST a bunch of male players are reduced to ignorant drooling cavemen with no manners the instant a female voice is heard, makes me wanna act a bit like a caveman myself and apply a club to em, yeah.

I get some weird offers myself at times, cause apparently I ping back gender-neutral to "gaydar" cause as stated, I don't have those kind of hangups and so there's no fear/flinch reaction, but I decline politely, or sharply in the case of them that can't take a hint, although I don't recall any of those offers offending me, the last guy made his pass while I was at the supermarket buyin eggs, which is a damned strange venue to begin with...

Anyhow, I take your point, even if it is quite difficult to wrap my head around.

or public officials regardless of gender were made porn offers if they aren't awful-looking.

Goddamn, that'd be funny, hell, even if they WERE... can you imagine it ?

John Kerry starring in "It ain't just the face that's long, baby!"

Just... don't make that offer to Karl Rove, he'd likely take it!
Seriously, he's one of the kinkiest dudes in politics today, and it ain't exactly a secret neither, you'd really rather NOT know, ok ?

I say we proposition em all, fairs fair, right ?

Anyhow, I never initially saw it as any different than any other potential starring movie role, which is why this backblast confused me so.

Hello,

I completely agree that offering something to someone whose sensibilities would be offended by the offer is wrong.

At the same time, thanks to this discussion, I have a craving for a juicy steak followed by sex with a beautiful woman.

Steak ... or a really nice, sizzling hamburger with grilled onions, mushrooms, and melted American cheese on a sourdough bun ?

and considering how the biologically-wired public is going to react, and they made sure they would know about it by sending the offer to her office, it seems likely to be a mean-spirited point.

Sort of like saying someone "pals around with terrorists" is a mean-spirited thing to say to make the point that the biologically-wired public is going to associate with the statement.

Was the offer in poor taste, IF it even existed at all? Sure it was. But taste, like art, tends to be a bit subjective. What you find offensive, I may find funny as hell.

Yes, pretty much like that. Except the porn thing is a more direct insult whereas the terrorist line was a deceptive exaggeration. Both are unacceptable.

Good thing we're not required to agree, then.
