And the fatness is mostly in the South. I can confirm that there are a lot of fat people here. And not just older fat people, but teenage fat people. A lot of young fat people. It’s a disturbing trend.

I just don't understand it; I LIKE being able to climb & pop over a chain link fence like Jackie Chan...or just tie my shoes while standing. What's up with being comfortable in an uncomfortable body??

I will say this. Fat girls, not enormously fat, but heavy, are disproportionately good at Lindy Hop. There are a lot of really good Lindy Hop girl dancers who are heavy. A lot more then you typically see in other dance scenes. And I think it’s because Lindy has a heavy counterbalance lead to it, and heavy girls can do that easier then lighter girls.

I think there are two major factors here:

1. Too much inactivity. A lot of people have simply added their internet time to their TV time, rather than replace.

2. Psychopharmacology.

I'll go with Sucralose, Aspartame, Saccharin, and High Fructose Corn Syrup. That's in order from worst to least.

Totally aside from other arguments, if you have something on Sucralose, please post. I've been looking to see if it's safe. There are a lot of soy products that are readily available with Sucralose, and have to be ordered online otherwise. I went looking, but I couldn't find anything conclusively bad about Sucralose. If there is, then I will continue to avoid it, and order online. I'm just curious

Heh heh, Americans are fat. You know from personal experience, every time I've put on weight it's been because I was overworked, and the most convenient places to get food in a hurry are fast food joints and 7-11's. Food for thought...

I have a vote and I'm not afraid to use it!

"What's up with being comfortable in an uncomfortable body??"

The couch.

It's easy to be comfortable there, no matter what ...

ETA: I can't account for the young heavy people, but to some extent I can account for the older heavy people.

When you are young and invincible you accumulate all sorts of dings, and can carry them, along with illnesses and ailments, due to high levels of human growth hormone. As you age and HGH drops, the illnesses and ailments you used to carry without much problem cause increasing symptoms. Too, many of the dings you got when you were younger come back to haunt you. Moving hurts. Moving more hurts more. The tendency is to move less. At the same time, metabolic rate drops. Eating, however, continues like before. Combining these leads to weight gain.

I was watching 'Extreme Bodies' and I think the title was 'The Super-Obese' - it highlighted people who were originally lean and fit and later became extremely heavy. Most of those people became less active due to injury, and also continued to eat as they had done in the past.

It reinforced my observations about the trends that cause weight gain with age.
