Quote: You see, even though there will be some "crackhead" getting his/her medical covered by others, that is an insignificant portion of society that benefits from universal health care. In other words, it's a strawman argument. Try again.

Quote: _____________________________________________ Caveman, I beg to differ. You've paid for some dumb crackhead to go 400 times, and then you've paid for his disability for his "mental illness" which was really just the side effects of his use of crack. This disability has been spent on more crack, so you've enjoyed paying for his crack :) _______________________________________________ Leave Rush Limbaugh alone he's doing the best he can.

AU, were we to meet in real life, I would find you to be a most agreeable sort, until the subject of politics came up, that is. It puzzles me why someone such as yourself is so extreme. Obama is dead center. That's why real leftys are so concerned. That's also why you should take heart. Peace, my Browncoat brother.

It's a matter of perspective. World perspective places him in the middle; USA perspective places him on the left- I choose a wider perspective is all.

Quote:Originally posted by dreamtrove: rap Obama's pretty center. He said himself that his fave. prez was Reagan. That's not an indication of a far leftie. Also, he's eerily reminiscent of my brother, in fact, he's like my brother, only brotherized. So, I have a pretty solid bead on his politics I think, The only leftie thing is the new deal, but every dem candidate since fdr has promised a new deal. it never actually happens.

Women don't walk behind men, shrouded in burkas, they run our homes, our cities, or our companies. Blacks no longer sit at the back of the bus, they are our judges, mayors, scientist, doctors, multi-millionaire entertainers , senators and now, President. If folks wanted more state control and FREE healtcare, they'd be converting 1957 Hudson Hornets into makeshift boats and floating towards Cuba, and not from it.

I've been to the doctor about twice in the last thirty years, but I'll bet I've payed for some dumb crackhead to go 30 times. And this is where your logic fails. You think that because you've never had to use it that paying into the system is useless. Unfortunately, for you, this isn't the case. Because, for any one person, going to the Dr. or Emergency Room, or... is inevitable. Period. It might not have happened yet, but it is a guarantee that it will happen at some point. And at that point, it'll be very very expensive. II for one and grateful that before my Grandma passed, when she needed a couple surgeries that we didn't have to worry about payment. Because, my parents (middle class, low debt) would have lost there house if we would have had to pay. I for one am grateful that when I ended up in urgent care with a severe migraine (thank god for Imitrex) that I didn't have to deal with payment. I could go on.
