Oops, hit the wrong key, sorry.

Chief Justice of the Supreme Court John Roberts bobbled the Oath of Office while administering it to President Elect Barack Obama, with the entire world watching. So, since it's word for word exactly in the Constitution, they re-did it that evening, just to prevent any possible legal challenge.

Another highly competent Bush appointee.

In fairness, Obama did jump in early and cut him off a bit, which threw off his rhythm, which in turn threw off Roberts's rhythm...

So they did a do-over, just for PN.

America loves a winner!

2 Harvard Law degrees between them, and they can't even recite a simple oath.

Probably a good thing no one handed either of them a pretzel, huh? I mean, those things have felled people with TWO degrees! Can't imagine what a mere one-degree-having peon would do when faced with the dreaded Attack Pretzel.

O practiced saying it many times.
Roberts practiced giving it many times.
They stood in front of the world and both MUTALLY fraked it up.

As soon as I saw it I knew the biased media would right away blame Roberts, but honestly who cares? The only damage...the true lasting damage...is that the "offical" sound bite is all screwed up now and sounds like dung. It can never be used for liberal propaganda pieces which is really a good thing. I watched a small piece just yesterday where they now have to edit stuff, shortening it and sucking the oxygen out of it.

On that part, we're in complete agreement.
It's a non-issue, utterly. I saw the news saying that Roberts screwed it up, but what I saw was Obama jumping in first and cutting Roberts off, which threw off Roberts's timing, which in turn threw off Obama's timing even more. A comedy of errors is what it was.

Its a non-issue. The ratification of the Twentieth Amendment meade the oath merely symbolic.

"Section 1: The terms of the President and Vice President shall end at noon on the 20th day of January, and the terms of Senators and Representatives at noon on the 3d day of January, of the years in which such terms would have ended if this article had not been ratified; and the terms of their successors shall then begin."

That's why cops used to carry a " Miranda Card", and READ it to suspects, word for word. 'Cuz if they screwed it up in even the tiniest detail, perps would walk. Mistakes had consequences.

The Chief Justice couldn't even be bothered to write the thing down on a 3 x 5 card before doing it with the entire world watching? As an old show biz guy, I firmly appreciate Murphy's Law, and take pains to cheat whenever possible, in every possible way, when working in front of an audience. Belt and Suspenders is way preferable to having your pants fall down. If ya gotta get some words to come out exactly right, ya carry a cheat sheet and read 'em.

SIMONWHO

There was a recently published theory that static cut out the missing vital 'a' from Neil Armstrong's opening line. Personally I prefer it as a blooper, a reminder of human fallibility at the moment of one of our greatest triumphs.
