Oh, Mike, to answer your question, there's no answer to your question, it really depends on your definition. Jesus was a Nazorene, which was a cult of Israelite. Whether that makes him Jewish is probably about as debatable as it is irrelevant. Nazorenes were a bizarre mix of Assyrian beliefs and Zoroastrian, and people call him either. The situation had been confused by govts. such as Assyria, Rome, and the state of Jerusalem which rule Israel at the time, to promote pantheism, or in the latter case, to promote their own local deity.

Jesus' god was almost certainly El, and the god of the old testament is YHWH, but that's deceptive, because there were originally many gods in the old testament, and some king crossed them all out and wrote in YHWH. But the OT god thing gets pretty confusing in its own right to make even tracing the religion difficult. If you sort it out, eventually it all comes into place, and that place is nowhere near this place. To make matters worse, El gets married to Him, who is really a Her, and that creates Elohim, who gets swept up into Satan. But that doesn't stop El from going on to make a cuckold of out of Joseph by knocking up Mary, who was a virgin in the sense of romanteenvirginz.net, IOW, a slut who is willing to say she's 18 in front of a tapestry weaver.

I suppose if you can follow PN's posts, you can follow religion.

Oh, and for the record, Mohammed was a Christian, but some sort of weird remote kind like a coptic christian. Allah is from Ellil, which is the Nazorene form. That at least helps it make some sense. Actually, there's speculation that Jesus was indirectly Buddhist, which is based on the idea that Zoroaster had studied under Siddhartha Gautama. My understanding is that Buddhism didn't become a religion until long after Gautama's death.

I'm not going to go into it in depth now, I have a lot of stuff to do, but the long twisted history of religion has some funny stories in it.

To unravel it, there's linguistic twists to follow, like at some point travelling west, a lot of words lose 'n', and sh was lost in favor of s, I'm pretty sure this is in migration to greek, so the word Christ, Χριστός, christos, is from krista, which means the other possible derivations include Krishna. This seems most probable to me because of the warrior messiah image, and the whole avatar thing.

I'm pretty sure the christians are off on the wrong tack on the Moloch thing. I suspect the infectious deity is Sin/Shin, who went through some trouble to become disguised and got confused with other gods. The cult of Sin was opposed to Moloch, and is probably responsible for the Christians identifying an opposing belief as Moloch. Thus, and random pagan belief might be called Moloch is Sin-based Christianity.

The ironic humor value of that is probably linguistic coincidence, but I'm not sure. There are a lot of anti-self based epithets that evolve, like the south african anti-black term kafir comes from an ancient persian tribe that wouldn't convert to islam, and came to mean anyone who refused to convert, and had spread to south africa when the europeans came, and so the europeans took it as a general negative and used it towards blacks, not knowing what they were doing. Similarly, sin may have been an anti-Sin word that got adopted by Sin-hijacked deities.

But this is just one small part of the whole mess. There are lots of different trails that start somewhere and wander the world. I'm pretty sure that I can track Aristotle's ideology back to Tibet through direct person-to-person links. Over a longer term, parts of Tibetan culture can be tracked back to Georgia through the use of symbols. The Tibetan language is related to the Eritrean, symbolically, as are those in between. I haven't figured out which was this one went yet.

There's a lot of mountain hopping in the ancient world, my strong suspicion is that the world was divided into highlanders and lowlanders, and the former was highly intellectual and small in numbers, the the latter was ritualistic and numerous. Lowlanders would raid highlander civilizations, and then become acculturated to their ideas, and carry them forward in a ritualistic manner. (A la Ancient Egypt.)

Egyptian threads are everywhere. Anubis, as first King of Egypt became the high deity in the religion, which became the source for Anu, the top Assyrian god. Enlil was adopted under him by Sargon I into a pantheon as the last breath of Anu, and became god of the air, the sky. Enlil moved west through "lose an 'n' land" which I will pin down at some point, and become Ellil, and then was combined with sea goddess Him to become Elohim. Elohim then gets swept up into Satan who is most likely a form of Set, as Seten.

My favorite part of this thread is that Anubis carries with him the eye of horus, literally, and his thread as anu carries with it the symbol which is commonly now called the eye of the illuminati, who adopted it in c. 1400. The eye also shows up in Scheherazade as the all seeing eye, and on the dollar bill as we all know. The stone was given to Anubis by Horus, probably Anubis' father, before his death during the campaign to unite Egypt. Anubis kept it high in the tower as a memento. It is undoubtedly a rare gem of some kind, probably would be quite valuable to a society that had commodity capitalism. Anyway, the lowland cults attempted to overthrow Anubis many times, and began the belief of a secret magical power of the eye, as the all seeing eye, which undoubtedly when it became an eye, rather than a stone.

Tutankhamen knew something we didn't, which is the reason we know any of this, he knew the location of Anubis' tomb. When Tut's dog died, he wrote an elegy as an epitaph to his dog. For the sarcophagus, he commissioned a replica of the canine sarcophagus of Anubis, which we assume faithully reproduces the elegy to Anubis' own dog carved into the design of the base, in which he credits dogs for saving civilization, and his own dog for saving egypt. It goes something to the effect of there's no better friend for a man than his dog, who keeps him company by day, and watches over him by night. Every time the tower was attacked, he would alert me to the intruders presence and location, without this, Egypt surely would have fallen. He goes on to debunk the all seeing eye myth, that he had no intention of debusing the people of this notion. So, that's the world of God: get a dog.

See? Now I'm caught up in this story... I could go on. I think some day I'll probably set up a wiki project to unravel the whole thing. Wikipedia won't do it ultimately because it is heavily flanked by malicious editing. Religions don't want to see themselves debunked

I just find the subject interesting, full of strange twists and turns, like how Ba'al became both Beelzebub, and was swept into Satan, while also becoming the sacred flame, the fire on the cross, and the olympic torch. Also, sacred virgins and the design of windows.
