I believe in solving problems, not sharing them.

Sometimes it's successful, but usually you pour water on it (or foam, or fire retardant).

War is a poor tool with which to build peace.

Be the change you wish to see.

This is NOT a game in which tit-for-tat works.

Get it?

No one can see their reflection in running water. It is only in still water that we can see.

Yep. Tit for tat works.

And if it doesnt, pull a gun. That ends the conversation right there. (j/k)

"Fighting for peace is like screwing for virginity"

I like to wind folks up to see what they're really made of, who they really are underneath their facade.

One of the best defenses against certain kinds of folk and their "plans" is to simply expose them, bait them into tearing the mask off and showing the true face beneath it, which gives a better perspective on what they're saying, and strong clues as to why.

I'd be a liar if I didn't say there was indeed some entertainment value in watching them go berserk, but there's a method to the madness.

Yes, Frem,

But it gets old after a while.

The mask people "tear off", and the face underneath, can just be anger.

I mean, everyone has accidentally hammered their finger and screamed loud and long curses.

But is that them?

At the moment it was, but who isn't at some point?

I think the Carthagenians would disagree.

Don't make me bust out my History and Moral Philospohy on your ass. Starship Troopers was a crappy movie...but the book had some serious weight.

Wulf, I don't do it just to be doing it.

I mean, you got enough issues to be on the receiving end pretty harshly, but you *admit* to them and despite taking a beating for em, do put some obvious effort into dealing.

You had a rough upcoming and it's left it's mark, but those things are not voluntarily and intentionally part of who you are or want to be.

THAT, is the difference.

And the fact that I make that distinction instead of yanking your chain even when you're dangling it oh-so-temptingly within my reach oughta tell you something as well.

No DT isn't me. Or, I'm not DT.

AFAIK, tit for tat works toward reaching certain goals, but not for others. Depends on what you're trying to do, and where you're trying to go.

But you know, SignyM - you seem to have unlimited faith in the power of rational discussion. Except, it only works on people who intend to discuss. Some come here to troll, some to convert the heathens to Rushism, some to spew and vent.

Not faith in. It's what I'm interested in.

And since they're like badly-behaved attention-seeking children, the best way to pull that plug is with REAL consequence, not by rewarding them with exactly what they came here for. I have a book on how to raise children with ADHD and ODD, if you care to read it.

Sometimes worth responding to.

Which means they're in pain. And you don't stop that by blistering what's already burned.

But, yanno? I've said this before. So I'm gonna take my own advice. Last post on the topic.
