Hahaha. Man, seriously. Everyone knows what you're saying is a lie. You know it's a lie. I know it's a lie. So why do you bother? Lying when everyone can clearly see that's what you're doing doesn't harm me at all, it only shows you up.

I have a vote and I'm not afraid to use it!

Rupert Murdoch personally apologizes for controversial cartoon.
News Corporation chairman and CEO Rupert Murdoch issued a rare apology today for the controversial chimpanzee cartoon that ran in the New York Post last week. In the statement, he took full responsibility for the cartoon, saying the “buck stops with me,” and called the decision to run the cartoon “a mistake”:

As the Chairman of the New York Post, I am ultimately responsible for what is printed in its pages. The buck stops with me.

Last week, we made a mistake. We ran a cartoon that offended many people. Today I want to personally apologize to any reader who felt offended, and even insulted.

Over the past couple of days, I have spoken to a number of people and I now better understand the hurt this cartoon has caused. At the same time, I have had conversations with Post editors about the situation and I can assure you — without a doubt — that the only intent of that cartoon was to mock a badly written piece of legislation. It was not meant to be racist, but unfortunately, it was interpreted by many as such.

We all hold the readers of the New York Post in high regard and I promise you that we will seek to be more attuned to the sensitivities of our community.

Love it - he appears to be apologizing but he's just pimping for his paper, more press, more attention, keep the story alive, sell more papers. And yet, he comes across as so sincere and such a good man, he's so sorry = sell more papers. And he gets in a dig at libs on the way out "the only intent of that cartoon was to mock a badly written piece of legislation."

It'll work too!

Ok, Im gonna call shenanigans on this whole thing. And end what I began, hopefully.

The liberals are the ones who said it was OBVIOUSLY about Obama being assassinated.

Everyone else is saying where did you get that idea?

And the liberals counter with "Of course it is, its a dead monkey!"
To which, everyone else is like wtf?

Its liberals who are saying that "Of course it has to be about Obama, its a dead monkey just lying there! That means its somebody who wants to shoot Obama!"

So in actuality its liberals who are comparing Obama to a monkey.

And then trying to blame it on everyone else.

Jeeze...

Wulfie, are you saying that Obama had NOTHING to do with the stimulus package, and that there are NO conservatives trying to associate him with said package? Are you honestly asking us to believe that the monkey in the cartoon wasn't supposed to have any connection to Obama in any way, shape, or form?

If so, what does the monkey represent? Congress? Is it okay to say that Congress should be shot and killed, every one of its members? Does that somehow make it better?

If the monkey has nothing to do with Obama, then clearly you're saying Obama has nothing to do with the stimulus package - so if it fails, you'll of course be sure to remember this, and he'll be completely off the hook. Right?

Rue,

STFU. You know my stance on EVERYBODY in "power". I think we should get rid of ALL of them (except for Ron Paul), and replace them with common people who know the Constitution.

Seriously, if by some miracle, all the so called elected reps were gone tomorrow, we could replace them with people who actually care about this country, and its people. Not just themselves.

That would be me. I was trying to make a funny, to point out how far things had degenerated, what with Cit, 'Rap, DT and others all poking at each other to continually escalate the hate-spiral with charges and countercharges of racism.

Certainly I wasn't trying to poke fun at anyone's race. If it came across that way, I apologize; it was never my intent.

I thought someone was comparing the NAACP to a roomful of monkeys. I know now that comment was directed at this thread. THAT is perfectly apropros!

In that case... carry on.

Yes.

You want to be one of them.

(Preferably one of a select handful. You and a few of your like-minded buds forming a posse to straighten out the mess.)

Oh. And... CHRIST! FUCK! I never even thought about it being looked at in that light. Yikes, you're right - that WOULD be pretty fucked up, right there. Nope, I've got way too much respect for the NAACP to pull any shit like that on them.

No, I was just pointing out that the thread had gone from one dead monkey in a tasteless cartoon, to a bunch of live monkeys poking each other in this very thread, each calling the other worse and worse things. It's an amazing thing to watch, but actually kind of fun when you're taking part in the hate-spiral. Like I pointed out to DT, it's a bit cathartic. From the outside, though, it's like watching a train-wreck that gets hit with a plane crash on top of it, all of it then buried under skyscrapers crashing down on it. Bad, but a helluva thing to see...

Oh c'mon...thats like saying you've got a lot of respect for the Aryan Nation....both are equal in the amount of (true) racism they spew.

Edit: KEEERRRASSSSHHHHH (Thats the sound of another 747 being piled on...)

The NAACP has done a lot of good.

The Aryan nation? Not so much.

Doesn't make em any less racist tho, does it ?
Given that race is the entire basis of their organisation.

Ain't sayin they're bad, it just strikes me as out of sorts for an organisation exclusively based on promoting one race over others has the nerve to cry racism at anyone.

It's all stupid anyway, a useless artificial division used to keep us at each others throats instead of putting our boot up the ass of the powers that be like we should be.

I'm all in favor of a national association for the advancement of impoverished ghetto dwellers who're really pissed off, myself...

But every time THAT has been tried, race has been used to break the unity, and when that didn't work, they went to the red scare, and now the bogeyman of the day, terrorism.

ProTip: Going apeshit about someone saying or doing something maybe a bit racist just feeds this shit, the best way to kill racism dead is to treat it with the gentle condescention one regards the rantings of an obvious lunatic and unworthy of the attention required to take offense from it.

No, brainless, this is what you said, directly after one of my post...

2nd time I had to re-post this, and you want ME to go searching through the entire thread for something you said ? Hell, you can't even keep up w/ your own damn words! Why do you expect me to ?

No, what I found disturbing was that it implied it was OK to assassinate the president if you disagreed with him.

But no such cartoon, or any cartoon with such a message WAS printed. If you're talking of some OTHER cartoon, then please, clue us all in. Hard enough to know what you're talking about with out you interjecting outside , unrelated issues into the thread.
