Finally we get a documentary about the blind Obama worship, and the shunned Palin.

Well deserved, but just a little too late.

The media did the unthinkable - when they interviewed Palin - something to which she agreed - they asked her questions ! What an outrage.

But Rue, it was the "gotcha media" with their loaded questions like "What newspapers or magazines do you read?" and "What's the Bush Doctrine?"

Seems to me if you're dedicated to upholding the Bush Doctrine, you'd have at least some idea of what the hell it was, other than "his world view".

She was shown to be an idiot. Nothing she's done or said since has dissuaded me of that opinion.

Very true, probably doesn't go far enough, but this is what the media has been, it's nothing new. They were split on Bush because though the popular left hated him, the socialist higher ups of the media liked him, and in fact, threw him over the top in the 2000 primary, on a three way split, created by Forbes, who was working for the Bush camp at the time, running and basically copying mccains platform. The media hates McCain and Palin, and sure, worships Obama. This is because the media likes lapdogs, but it doesn't like pitbulls.

Palin hesitated on which newspapers she reads in an interview to Couric. And for that one simple hesitation on her part, she was labeled an idiot by the media(especially Newsweek). So yeah, I guess that's fair.

If Obama hesitated on a question, you think the media would have let him live it down? You decide.

I'm glad you posted this, as I saw this man the other night on cable. As a traditional conservative Republican I want to let my thoughts out on Sarah Palin :
1) I loved her speech at the Convention
2) I thought to myself, now here's a woman of accomplishment who is also Conservative, I was elated
3) One of the highlights of her speech was a section where she said (I paraphrase)"And for you media pundits and DC newspapers I have a message for you - I don't care what you say or think. I'm running to represent the people."
4) So I thought, wow!, at last, someone, a woman, on my side to take on the liberal media.
-----------------------------------------------
That was it.....after that it was all downhill for her in my opinion. How could she dare to challenge the media, and NOT be prepared to deal with the media? How utterly stupid was that? Did she think they were just going to lay down for her? Did she exist in a frikkin' bubble up there in Alaska? Did she not know that the interviews she went on were going to be hostile and potentially difficult? Did she think Katie Couric was going to ask her what her favorite recipes were for fudge brownies or something? Her complete befuddlement about how things work in Washington politics was hard to swallow. Now...was it her fault or McCain's? I'm not a Governor or an ex PTA President, but by God I can tell you what magazines and newspapers I read! By God, I know that the media slants to the Left, and I'd be a bit wary of meeting with them without some brushing up. Whoever brushed her up ought never to work in politics again. Driving the Left nuts over her values, and perhaps motivating some Republicans to vote etc wasn't going to be good enough this time. Ultimately she kept endlessly repeating the same crap from her original speech, and then when that morphed in the Obama-terrorist connection stuff I knew it was over big time. I hate McCain for what he put her though, the stupid fuck himself smiled on the View while all the gals gave him the middle finger, what a clueless tool. So Sarah, stay in Alaska. You will never make it on the national scene, and that's quite an accomplishment considering all the idiot females in Washington.

I've seen that interview. She didn't so much hesitate, as look like a rabbit caught in headlights after a lie. I remember her saying something like "which ones? All of them", then went on too talk about how Alaska has all the newspapers anywhere else has, and that she has a variety of sources. She just can't name any of them. Yeah, if you can't manage to answer a question like "what newspapers do you read" you're an idiot. I mean even if the answer is "none" that doesn't make you an idiot. But not even being able to answer the question? Come on.

I can't say, I can't remember him having a problem answering a simple question like that. Palin did though. From what I see of the US media this "Liberal conspiracy" is a myth. If anything it's the other way, hell you've got one of the most biased right wing propaganda organs in the western world calling itself fair and balanced.

Mike,

Let's say today, I nominate you to be secretary to the UN. Your job is to discuss the intricacies of south east asian economic interrelations, which suddenly I've decided is the pressing topic. Now I'm going to give you one hour to prepare yourself, physically, you don't get to google the the topic, and then you go in for a ten hour interview. The interview is conducted by Rush Limbaugh, who will then cherrypick your most embarassing moments. Then he will interview Auraptor, but he will have given him 2 years prep, and they'll talk about the power of God in American life.

Sorry, but having watched CBS's Lara Logan's interview with Obama, which was so totally gotcha, and then CBS not airing that interview, instead, sending their Katie to interview him, Katie's Obama interview was like a flatterathon. Katie and Obama are co-workers, she has a crush on him, and worse yet, they have the identical agenda as witness they belong to the same think tanks. Then, Katie, who is so totally in the Obama camp she'd do anything to get him elected, is granted the only Palin interview, where she shreds Palin until Palin is a nervous wreck.

You still believing everything the media is telling you? Come on, you're smarter than that.

Rewind to that Lara Logan interview. The first CBS Obama interview, she corners Obama and gets him to admit that "Yes, my administration would represent no policy change over that of George W. Bush" Barack Obama's own words in an interview on CBS. Then watch his Katie interview which oh so "who does your suits" sort of nonsense.

I'll give them one thing, the interviewees here weren't lying, they're all a cut above Bush and Kerry who just lied their asses off. But to not see the blatant media manipulation, that's just mind-numbing. Sorry.

How do you think the election would have played, if the videos the media were playing were things like the fight between palin and cheney, the man fights between mccain and bush, particularly over torture, geneva conventions, stem cells. Then, that had been contrasted with with Obama saying he supports president Bush, his administration would be the same, he likes the fiscal policy, he supports the wars, he'd like there to be more us military action in the mideast, not less. All these things were said on camera, and reported, and not replayed by the MSM.

Would that have been fair and balanced? No. But it would have been the flipside of what we did see.

My god, anyone still boo-hooing for Palin because she couldn't answer some of the most softball questions ever is, frankly, pathetic. She wanted to play in the big leagues, she should have brought a brain with her.

Oh, and on the subject of the librul media, here's a study pointing out how the so-called librul media was more favorable to Republican candidates.

To take a line from "Tombstone"...she called down the thunder, and she got struck with lightning. Towards the end of the campaign, when it was teetering towards hopelessness for McCain, she finally went into "friendly" territory and had some nice moments with Sean Hannity. Too little, too late. The general public could never get past Couric, Gibson, and Tina Fey.

So. What? Her questions had nothing to do with any of that. They were simple, easy questions Palin should have been able to nail. Couric's background didn't make Palin embarrass herself - she did it all on her own. And your defense is rediculous.

Thanks for that, Rue. I was going to say that I'd have declined the nomination, pointing out - with complete candor and validity - that I am wholly unqualified for that job, and that furthermore, having lost my father recently to the damage he suffered during his time in the U.S. Army in Viet Nam, I'd have to recuse myself due to the very real possibility of a conflict of interest, in that I may have some vestigial prejudices towards anyone from southeast Asia for the ills my father suffered there.

I have to agree with all of that. It's painful to me, but very true. Coming onto the national scene as an "honest hick" has its' charm, but that charm faded oh so fast. Maybe, as others here have said, her honesty and naive manner would be refershing in Washington DC, but in the real world that will never happen.

It was their goal to portray her as some kind of idiot.

Obama looked bad during the Primary debates, but never got painted with the stupid brush...Hillary and the Republicans did however paint him with the 'unprepared' brush.

Democrats had every opportunity to paint Palin the same way. However, they started with an immediate jump to the most base and vile personal attacks. This caused a pro-Palin backlash during the RNC so they tried the 'unprepared' brush and that didn't work because it was correctly pointed out she had MORE experiance then Obama. At that point the Republicans began a series of mistakes including the Palin-Couric and Palin-Gibson interviews.

She looked great in later interviews. They should have started her with a friendly lineup like Sean Hannity, then rolled out the adversarial ones after they'd gotten her acclimated.

I give Palin all the credit in the world. She went from a courtesy place on the search list to contender in about 24 hours, then had her first national speech, then suffered the most intense period of personal and political attacks I've ever seen, and then gave one of the best VP convention speeches in history. Her only real mistakes in that whole three weeks or so was the Couric interview...which was amazing when compared to Biden.

In the month before the election Palin was meeting with the press on an almost daily basis taking any and all questions. McCain and Obama were not nearly as accessable. Biden was "in a secure location"...he emerged briefly for the VP debate and then it was back to the pit for "it puts the lotion in the basket" which is where he's at today.

"Nobody messes with Joe"...yeah, we all know Joe is sitting in the Oval Office's closet, handcuffed, dressed in leather with some kind of ball gag in his mouth...hmmm...just pictured Palin that way...its disgusting and inappropriate and kinda hot...

"MORE" experience? Hardly. She was the mayor of a town of 1100 while he was a state senator of a state with almost 12.5 million, then she was governor of a state with fewer than 700,000, while he was a United States Senator, again of a state with more than 12 million.

Mike

sorry, no offense intended.

My point was Katie Couric is a hardcore neocon operative, and has been for a while. Lara Logan is a reporter. Katie just plays one on TV. Catch a bit of Lara's war reporting and you'll find she's no fan of GW. Bush, but she sure put the smack down on Obama, for being too much like Bush, and the media sure didn't air it. The point is that the thread, started by someone i don't know, he or she has a point. The media is not liberal, but it is biased. I know when liberals were opposing the iraq war, 200,000 peaceniks would show up, and a few dozen war supporters, and the press, if it said anything at all, it would be "protestors were our on both sides today" and then show you close ups of 6 people from each side. Yep, fair and balanced. No, the media has its own agenda.

It's slightly reassuring that it hasn't been very flattering to obama lately, not like it was during the campaign, so maybe he's straying from the script. But his speech last night was pretty close to word for word the speech Bush gave in 2005. A little more gloomy.

BTW, Can I have an exit strategy from this discussion. Personally, I'm not happy with the way things are going, a lot of people aren't, and so it's natural to go back and romanticize the loser. And yeah, I'll romanticize Palin if she shows up at my door, or she can send over Bristol and that other one, and throw in the McCain girls, and Lara Logan, and Katie Couric and Cindy McCain if there's time. If Obama doesn't mind, Michelle is also welcome :)

If I had to pick one though, it's gotta be Lara.

Angry young Lara, for CBS News

"you motherf^&kers aren't even going to air this because OHH Britney's back in rehab."

MMm. okay, mind off politics now. I'll be in my bunk. I invite everyone to go find clips of Lara Logan reporting.

What I heard, is that the Party sent people to prep Palin, but she blew them off. I heard that Palin is actually bright. Maybe she thought all she needed to do was connect on an emotional level. You know, that didn't work too damn well when *I* tried it, just sayin...

And Palins lack of qualifications didn't scare me nearly so much as her "true believer" zealotry for obviously disastrous policies cooked up by sociopathic maniacs.

Just imagine if Joe McCarthy was veep to a failing president at the very height of his fervor, and just how much damage that woulda done.

If THAT woman was next in line after a badly failing McCain, who rumor has it, had a mild stroke while on that campaign as it is, it would have strongly encouraged me to find somewhere else to live.

Policy and qualifications aside, I am firmly convinced that she's every bit as batshit crazy as these holier-than-thou Queen-wannbes you run into at PTA and Homeowner org meetings, and ten times as dangerous with her greedy, grasping, knows-whats-best-for-you hands in range of REAL power, oh HELL no - despite the fact that Obama, his party and policymakers make me yearn for an airsick bag, I felt the pressing need to vote *against* her as an act of self defense!

Felt the same way about Tipper, too, so it's got jack shit to do with party lines, and everything to do with the fact that I consider the woman to be downright insane.

Man, wouldn't you just crap (could be a happy crap, could be a sad crap) if a political candidate chose that for their campaign slogan?

I WOULD!

It was like that when we got here!

DREAMTROVE

A few thoughts.

Katie ain't dumb
Sarah ain't dumb
Got enough footage you can edit 3 min make anyone look like a moron. I just saw Jon Stewart make Barack Obama look like Forrest Gump. And he did it to prove that it could be done, not because he wanted to slight the guy.

Sarah's not a true believer, she's a very good faker. My sis lived in alaska, Sarah would say one thing to one group, something else to the next. She does well what John McCain sucks at.

I agree about Tipper and all true believers.

Re: Joe McCarthy, yeah, he was a little over the top, but when I read his chilling statement: I dread the day when Americans wake up to find their nation run by the disciples of Max Shachtman and their followers.

Those names would be

Irving Kristol
Leo Strauss
Allan Bloom
Paul Wolfowitz
Donald Rumsfeld
Richard Cheney
Richard Perle
Jeanne Kirkpatrick
Hillary Clinton
Karl Rove
William Kristol
Zbignew Brezinsky
Bill Clinton
Barack Obama

This list goes on. Some first generation, at the top, some second generation.

Joe McCarthy was a little extreme, McCarthyism, like Watergate, didn't kill anyone. Why are these held up as the crimes of the century? It eeked into your consciousness, the public consciousness, broadcast by the mainstream media, by a society run by these people. Oh, as for watergate, see watergate revolution, see how america was really stolen from its elected officials.

And think. Step back for a second and think. The american crimes of the 20th century were more like this, to any objective observer:

Nuking Japan
Supporting tyrants everywhere
Joseph Stalin
Chiang Kai Shek
Winston Churchill
Saddam Hussein
Pinochet
just to name a few.
Cutting a deal with the UK to delay the invasion of europe so that "the soviets and germans could wipe each other out" and incidentally, so the holocaust could be completed, as all our allies had low quotas on accepting jews. That was so they could take jewish scientists, but no one else.
Oh, and Rwanda, a made in USA disaster.
And several more, not quite as spectacular.

This is the sort of thing that an objective history would tell as the crimes of america in the 20th century. But our media feeds us things like Joe McCarthy and Watergate.

News flash: Joe McCarthy was right, insane, but right: the American Troskyite movement he started, that would become known as neoconservatism, was, in his own words "The number one threat to America." And that people in the media were seeding these ideas into the American public consciousness was also absolutely right. His methods were flawed, a witch hunt, very visible, and censorship, rather than exposure. But no one died.

Watergate was a set up. The spying was tipped by an insider, most likely the man who set the bugs himself, my guess, Karl Rove. People who commit crimes always rise to the top, and Karl was Nixon's interal spy, he kept track of all the jews in govt. and what they were up to. Call that what you will, it was what Karl was up to, and he turned on Nixon, and was annointed as a chief strategist by the people who dethroned Nixon many of them jews. They would never have done that unless Karl had betrayed Nixon.

I'm not passing judgment on any of this. Or supporting any of these shmucks. Just objectively reporting what happened, and pointed out the rather skewed perspective of our rather carefully edited and programmed history.

In the end, Joe McCarthy got a hundred some Americans fired, including himself, doing what he thought was absolutely essential to protect us from the very tyranny under which we now live.

William Jefferson got a hundred some americans killed, because he felt like it that day, and probably had some rumors to silence, who knows for sure. But for slick willy, that was just another day on the job. Or off the job, getting a blow job, letting his wife actually give the order.

3416 combat deaths in Iraq of US soldiers to date. That's just under the number of civilians that died each day during the Clinton presidency from his many international military exercises, which took place on every continent except Antarctica and Australia. Every single day. And you wonder why people are scared of Joe McCarthy. Because the media is telling you to. Maybe we should've listened instead.

We ain't out of the woods yet. Barack Obama's mentor was Allan Bloom, a direct disciple of Max Shachtman, and true believer in one world govt. through the exploitation of american military supremacy, not for us, but to sacrifice america. We're the hired gun for the globalist agenda.

Yeah, I watched that speech, and I did so with open ears, not eyes so much before Fox Video conked out and became Fox Audio, but I was really desperate for change I could believe in. For a month, I've been Fox Mulder. I wanted to believe. But I hear an hour of platitudes, fearmongering, warmongering, and a plan to put each american, and america as a whole, in debt for ever. And maybe one or two minor things I approve of, which will probably get struck from the agenda before its enacted. I was disheartened and disappointed. I had the audacity of hope that even with all of his underworld connections, Barack was just playing the game until he had the power. Now I feel he's just the tragic front man for the people who put him up there. Hey, any one with enough common sense would never take the job, we all know it. The power is in the shadows, and the shadowmen are ruling tonight.

FREMDFIRMA

No.

McCarthy's problem is that he was attacking the OPPONENTS of the folk you just named.

Not only was he nuts, he wasn't even right, going after all the wrong people while the real enemies were sittin right beside him egging him on and patting him on the back.

He was very instrumental in putting the final blows to real union labor that started with the first red scare and the palmer raids, both having more to do with clearing the deck for "Corporate America" than any real threat, and entirely successful in doing so.

He was also, in my opinion, the beginning of the end for the Republican Party, and the forefather of all the shit we're still trying to scrape off from the slimy bastards from Nixon to Bush that it's delivered unto us since.

Ike despised him, and I have profound respect for Eisenhower in no small amount for that fact alone, and if you go back and take a good long look at Eddie Murrow, concerning his blistering assault on McCarthy and his "Culture of Fear", and his reasons for doing it, you'll see in that a striking resemblance to my blistering assaults on the continuing use of that tactic by simply exchanging "Terrorism" for "Communism".

Seriously, McCarthy was a freaking monster, and the sixties were a direct backlash against people like him and their entire culture by folks possessed of moral courage the average citizens of today would envy if they weren't trained from birth to despise.

Hail to the hippies, down with the fearmongers.

Your making a "quality" argument...but during the election it was framed first by Hillary, then by the Republicans as a quantity argument.

The Republicans had them beat on that point right up till the Couric interview. Many folks took Obama's "quality" argument as an attack on middle america and women (especially after he gave the VP slot to Biden instead of Hillary). It was also correctly pointed out that the Republicans had the more experianced person at the top of the ticket where they belong and that Palin's national experiance, while lacking, was less important in her role of VP.

The Couric interview cost the Republicans the quality-quantity experiance debate.

After the Gibson interview she sent her handlers packing and adopted a "let Palin be Palin" approach which fired up the crowds and led to not one gaffe in the weeks that followed.

Its typical to try and counter your opposition by portraying them as less intellegent or poorly educated. Most conservatives are people with college educations, jobs, stable families, and attend church. They are good folk.

If your description of conservatives was accurate, they would be the folks without college educations, working minimum wage jobs or unemployed, who are on welfare, etc. Oddly the description applies to liberals, particularly folks living in cities controlled by long-term Democratic party machines.

Take a look at the mortgage crisis. I'm willing to bet that the vast majority of defaulting mortagees are liberal Democrats.

Frem, agree to disagree, excepting one small detail

It was a quote. Max Shachtman was his number one topic, and he stated his worst fear that we'd wake up to find Shachtman's disciples running the country. Follow that chain, and you find that is who is running the country. He was nuts, yes, misguided, yes, but my main objection to him, damned ineffectual. He wasn't wrong about the Troskytes turned SWP turned Social Dems Turned Neoconservatives the various names this very same group of people have called themselves. These guys are still following the Shachtman plan, "one world govt through a hierarchy of supernational entities" yeah, I did my research on this one.

Even a total whacko can still be right.

As for hippies, they brought us some nice libertarianism, unfortunately they we're infiltrated with CIA agents Timothy Leary and company to introduce a new world Soma.

The problem I have with all crusaders is they draw too much attention to themselves.

And that is the biggest problem. Sarah Palin is a SMART lady. And so many other media mongers have been brainwashed into believing she can't tie her own shoes.
I could take the stance(like so many others in this thread) that Sarah is an idiot. Of course that would not be the truth.

In the month of October she was being interviewed by the media on a nearly daily basis, a pace that was far greater then either Obama or McCain. Biden was kept away from the press.

She did not, however, get much more national media attention like she did in the Gibson and Couric interviews. She got a tremendous amount of State and Local attention.
Quote:

(Oct 20)In the past two days alone, Palin has answered questions from her national press corps on three separate occasions. On Saturday, she held another plane availability, and on Sunday, she offered an impromptu press conference on the tarmac upon landing in Colorado Springs. A few minutes later, she answered even more questions from reporters during an off-the-record stop at a local ice cream shop.

By contrast, Biden hasn’t held a press conference in more than a month, and Obama hasn’t taken questions from his full traveling press corps since the end of September. John McCain—who spent most of the primary season holding what seemed like one, never-ending media availability—hasn’t done one since Sept. 23.

In fact, if you search for October Biden interviews you'll find out he got interviewed by a 5th Grader and got into a fight with a Florida anchorwoman. Thats pretty much it.

MALBADINLATIN

If I went to a toothless redneck bar near a polling station during the 2008 elections...I would get a bunch of "USA-USA's!!!", and "Fu#k Liberals", and if I asked questions about why they were voting for McCain I would have gotten all kinds of "Cuz Obama's a commie!", and a bunch of "I dunno...I just do!"'s. Then if I showed Fox News and Rush clips bashing Obama, I could come up with the same bigotry driven crap Zielger has regurgitated all over the floor.

We would be better off without the unconscionable idiots who believe Zielger. He is a class bigot, and Sarah Palin is a blitherring brainless bubbleheaded ninny, and her thousands of gaffes and displays of oblivion are what did her in.

You're just pissed that she's hot, smart, and an accomplished career woman who never gave up raising a family. She's everything the Feminazis say no woman EVER could be, and yet, there she is.

And for every 1 of Palin's so called gaffes, Joe "Stand up, Chuck, let 'em see ya." Biden has well over a dozen true gems. Biden makes Dan Quayle look like a gorram RHODES Scholar.

I think we can go ahead and forgive Biden every gaffe he's made before becoming VP. After all he says, "Louisiana is losing 400 jobs per day."

I know, all you truth loving liberals will want to jump in and harp on the fact that Louisiana is one of two states to gain several thousand jobs in the last month...but we need to allow Biden to move beyond the facts.

I have a vote and I'm not afraid to use it!

She's HOT ? Really ? Some people think so. Not many. If we put it up to a vote - well, we did. Apaprently not hot enough to win.

Smart ? Can't even answer which magazines she reads ... Runs her town into the ground financially ... Runs Alaska into the ground ... Still under ethics invesitgations ... Still owes back taxes ... and she's smart ? Not smart enough apparently to do what works, or to at least cover her tracks.

And accomplished career woman ? Well, she's certainly on the losing end of a a lot of efforts notably as VP, her popularity is falling among Alaskans (New poll shows Palin no longer Alaska's most popular politician), AND they don't trust her (Troopergate Scandal: 85% of Alaskans Believe Palin Lied). Is that YOUR definition of successful - going down in flames ?

As for enver giving up raising her family - she cranked them out sure enough. Then raised them on the government's dime (another investigation as to who paid for her children's travel, along with the per diem pay she gave herself while at home).
