Not a state, but a 'vote' , which is Unconstitutional

What next..... Puerto Rico to get a vote too ?

Offsetting the Dem seat with another one in Utah has a Missouri Compromise feel to it, and I don't care for it one bit.

It is not those who use the term "Islamo-Fascism" who are sullying the name of Islam; it is the Islamo-Fascists. - Dennis Prager

A concern of the GOP is that the people aren't informed enough to understand their policies, while a fear of the Dems is that the people ARE.

It's a sticky issue. DC residents at this point aren't legally part of the United States, because they are subjected to taxation without representation. If they're not going to be represented in our government, they ought to simply refuse to go along with our government. Stop paying any federal taxes whatsoever, refuse to open the streets of DC to any federal agencies, etc.

Hey, either you're a full member of the U.S., or you're not a member at all.

If you're going to assume anything, assume you're wrong.

Um, then why was it set up that way in the first place?

Does that go for the Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands or various protectorates ?

Don't know - it could be that the District was set up purely as the center of national government, and no one was actually supposed to live within its bounds... I honestly don't know HOW or WHY it became this way, only that it IS this way, and that way isn't right.

At any rate, those who DO live inside DC have no voice in government, which is frankly unconstitutional. Gotta do somethin'. Either give 'em a voice, or clear The District of all residents.

Wish I had an answer for ya, but I don't. There's probably a case to be made, at least for "the Puerto Rico", but it will likely have to be made on its own merits, not coat-tailed onto the DC issue.

Isn't that what Baltimore already is? Not sure that pushing all the district's residents into "Bodymore Murdaland" is going to improve things there, though...

Fine, go the other way.

D.C. Residents pay no tax - then watch EVERYBODY try to move there!

Wouldn't work, but the act of tryin would send a damn strong message, wouldn't it ?

And I am firmly convinced, if you bulldozed Baltimore and paved it over for a hundred years, the ground would still reek of blood and violence, there's something *wrong* there, from a spritual aspect, and has been since approx 1862, and a steady economic decline hasn't been helpful neither.
