Since Obama's inauguration, Americans have lost an additional 30% of our money. Our money has gone down in close step to Obama's announcements of doom and spending madness. His response is "we don't look at market fluctuations". No sir, the reality is Wall Street and foreign investors think your plan and vision is dangerous and disasterous. And to be so obtuse and insensitive to the financial hardships that YOUR 45 days of bashing the economy and blaming everyone else has done is quite frankly sickening and pathetic.

And besides, Mr. Obama, you didn't write the plan, you didn't even read the 1000 pages of it, did you? You're merely a figurehead, the messiah, the chosen one, and you travel around the country, give endlessly boring and frightening press conferences while your mesmorized lemmings faint and drool at your very presence, but you don't really get into doing any of the work, do you? That is ALL left to Pelosi and her band of leftist loons who have put forth a budget that rewards Democrat donors and supporters, and grants entitlements the the least worthy, all in a coordinated effort to assure Democratic political dominance for decades.

Now, your secret pit bull, but outwardly effeminent Chief Of Staff Rahm the Ripper Emmanuel is desperatley trying to distract Americans from the worsening economic crisis that you and your phony Presidency are creating. You're taking us from a recession right into global depression, which was your plan all along, right? You and your ilk want Americans to be dependent on the Govt. tit; you want Americans to stop thinking and mindlessly fall in line with you and Polly Pelosi. You're going after Rush Limbaugh as a distraction. Rahm Emmanuel and former Clinton hackistas Begalia & Carville are trying to score political points. FOR GOD'S SAKE WHY??? You won the fucking election with your money and lies, so you don't need to keep campaigning against Republicans, especially in the most petty and pathetic manner possible now, do you?

Americans are waking up to the realities of what Pelosi & Obama are doing. I expect tax revolts and a massive souring of the Obama mystique. You, President Obama, have LIED to America. You campaigned and promised:
Fiscal Transparency : Sure pal, Congress voted on it before they even could read it.
No Earmarks : The current $ 410 Billion omnibus spending with 8000+ earmarks should be vetoed, but won't be.
Line By Line Accounting...again, a total lie.
Change in Washington....sure Barack....sick your foaming at the mouth maniacs Carville & Begalia to attack Republicans, that's a nice change.
Fiscal Responsiblity...sure Mr President, while Americans take it in the nuts, you party and wine and dine every week, propose spending hundreds of millions of dollars on staff helicopters, office remodeling, and Pelosi Perks.

Hey Barack, it's time to start to be the President for ALL Americans, not just the ones that think you walk on water. If you don't wise up soon, your 1-term Presidency will go down in the books as a disaster for America, and you will be nothing but a curious footnote of historical importance.

All you got to offer is your endlessly boring and irrelevent Bush Derangement Syndrome excuses? Pretty pathetic pal. Address what I wrote about your beloved Obama, not a rehash of your relentless Bush/Cheney hatred. Face it, Obama's taken the Bush numbers and just made them ten times worse. Nah, I'm just savoring the delicious irony of all the people who spent the last 8 years going, "...But CLINTON! But CLINTON!" now whining about the "Bush derangement syndrome". Every time any of us tried to criticize Bush, we got an earful of "But CLINTON...!" So now you get to see what that's like, which amuses me to no end...

Humor is relevant and Daffy is loved world wide - so you are in good company.

As to your contentions, there are so many that I would dispute, but honestly the gap between our world perception is so wide... what would be the point? Would it do any good to prove you wrong? I have seen both sides proved wrong, repeatedly, and it hasn't stopped anyone from continuing to wave their party flag and march in lock step with their leaders. It's pitiful to see the limits of human understanding on both sides. And that is why I joke.

"We'll know our disinformation program is complete when everything the American public believes is false." -- William Casey, Reagan's presidential campaign manager & CIA Director (from first staff meeting in 1981)

Jongs, if I seem unconcerned, it's simply because... well, because I'm unconcerned! I warned everyone I could, going into the last election cycle, and the one before that, that what would work BEST for us in this case was for one party to control the Congress and the other hold the White House, or at the very least have a split Congress, with one party in charge of the House and the other in charge of the Senate. That way, the vast majority of petty bullshit gets gridlocked to death, and only truly important stuff that both sides agree on gets through to the President for his signature or veto.

Frem warned you, I warned you, and nobody listened. So what the hell do you want me to do NOW? Point at Obama and say he's doing exactly what Bush and his cronies did, or Clinton before him, or Reagan before that? Remember the "Republican Revolution", where they were going to tell Clinton how it was going to be? Remember Rove and his "permanent majority"?

What were those, if not plans and outright attempts (often successful, at least in the short term) to "game the system" and take an unfair advantage? And NOW you want to scream "Foul!"? Why, because the "other guys" are doing the same shit back to you and yours that you were only too happy to do to them and theirs?

What goes around comes around, and everyone goes under the wheels sooner or later. If you don't want this shit to happen to you, don't support it when they're doing it to others in your name.

The only thing I can say is, "I told you so."

So yeah, having seen this one coming, and telling people it was coming, and being ignored or called paranoid, it occurs to me that I'm not going to whine about it happening now; I'm going to sit back and laugh my ass off as it all comes crumbling down around you. In other words, if we're headed off a cliff, if we're being driven straight into hell, then I call shotgun, and I plan to enjoy the ride!

Okaaayyy.

Now that the obligatory snark is out of the way, cause we perhaps discuss unfucking the situation, then ?

Seriously, Jongstraw has indicated what appears to me to be a sincere desire to do so, and yet when he reaches across the aisle, albeit in a snarky not-quite-admitting fault manner, y'all slap his hand away ?

Come on, let's leave the petty shit off for a while, ok ?

I ain't too damn impressed with the new POTUS myself, and from what I have seen so far prolly ain't gonna be - we can do better than this, and we DAMNED well better get our shit together in time to ambush Congress with some real challenges to their comfy, cushy chairs or nothin is gonna get no better.

That, and prettymuch EVERYONE wants rid of Pelosi, yes ?

We can DO this, and this is not a time to let petty snark drive off potential allies, folk.

Jong, I hate to say this but... you're STUPID. Do you REALLY think that it's NOT the rapacious overextended CEOs that got us into this mess in the first place, aided and abetted by Bush??? WHY do you think that this kind of shit happens every time the disparity in income.... AIDED AND ABEETED BY BUSH.... reaches "historic" proportions?

I've been predicitng the great depression for a couple of years now. Had "Let's party like it's 1929" as my tag-line for a loooong time. Everybody thought "It couldn't happen". Man, we were laying on the train tracks, and the train was coming. It's NOT something that anyone can instantaneously reverse. Bush sowed the wind. Now we're reaping the whirlwind.

"We'll know our disinformation program is complete when everything the American public believes is false." -- William Casey, Reagan's presidential campaign manager & CIA Director (from first staff meeting in 1981)

Okay, here's the thing. Things went utterly and completely to hell under Bush, abetted by Clinton's policies, and those of Reagan before him. Things were well and truly on their course to go tits-up some time ago, and there were some of us warning of it. Specifically, I warned that Iraq would cost us TRILLIONS, and could very well put us deeper into debt than we could realistically dig out of. And yet, when we complained that Bush was setting us on a disastrous course, we were shouted down. When things DID go wrong, it was brushed aside, and every evaluation of Bush came with a shit-ton of caveats and qualifiers. "Yeah, but he had 9/11... yeah, but he had Katrina... Yeah, but he had Iraq..." - as if Presidents in ALL ages haven't had their share of crap to deal with! And a huge portion of Bush's "problems" that he had to deal with were of his own making.

And at the exact same time Bush was being excused for his every peccadillo, Clinton was being vilified, and we were being told by the right that FDR, far from getting us out of the Great Depression, actually made it worse with his policies, and that Hoover had us on the road to recovery in 1929... Not one of those Bush apologists has EVER stepped forward and said of FDR, "Yeah, but had the Depression... Yeah, but he had Pearl Harbor... Yeah, but he had World War II... Yeah, but he had 23% unemployment to deal with..."

Did FDR take extraordinary actions? He sure did. Did they work? Well, the post-war period saw a prosperity unrivaled by any nation before it, so apparently it DID have SOME positive effect.

So Bush is our generation's Hoover. Thank your lucky stars that McCain didn't get elected - "The fundamentals of our economy are strong," he says, as the economy collapses around his head. Is Obama going to have to take some extraordinary measures? Almost certainly - the clusterfuck that Bush handed him pretty much sealed that deal.

For future reference, if you don't want "the other guy" to bend you over and break one off in you, then don't let "your guy" leave things in such a mess that he has to. And that goes for the economy, the military, homeland security, torture, wiretaps, eavesdropping, espionage, and the whole goddam ball of wax. Are you going to cry and whine when it's revealed that Obama is continuing to torture? I sure as hell will, because to me, it's wrong NO MATTER WHO'S DOING IT! That's the point many of you on the right seem to miss: wrong is wrong, no matter if it's your guy or "my guy" that's doing it. I want ALL OF THEM held to the high standard, because a nation can be best judged by how it treats the very worst of its people, not just by how it treats the best.

Sooooo... If you can get behind this idea, then let's move forward. If not, then you get exactly the government that you deserve.

Is the American Empire another one of those "too big to fail" kind of things?

There's a paradigm shift going on in this country right now. "Too big to fail" is starting to be understood as "too big to exist".

I do believe the economy will begin to recover towards the end of this year, but it will be in spite of Obama not because of him. The only thing any President can do to have a effect on the economy over such a short period of time is to inspire confidence in the system and talk up the economy. Until recently Obama has done just the opposite. Hopefully now that he has his stimulus package he'll start talking positively about the economy and inspire a few companies to start hiring again. If the economy is booming again 9 months from now it won't be due to Obama's economic policies, but it could be due to his ability to inspire confidence in the system the way Reagan did. If Obama changes his tune and stokes the business cycle instead of pretending his stimulus is our only hope, I'll give him some credit, but the economic cycle will turn things eventually despite Obama. My main concern is that his policies will limit the growth potential of this country for many years to come.

Despite a hurendous fourth quarter GDP number the yearly GDP actually grew slightly last year. It's not like all economic activity has stopped.

Well, I stand by my predictions. Roughly 12% are either late on their mortgage payments or facing default. Since they represent about 30% of the population (roughly 33% rent, 33% own outright, and 33% pay mortgage) that's a pretty big chunk ... 4% ... of the spending population.

So far, I've been right, altho in this case I'll be happy to be proved wrong.

We'll see.

"Despite a horrendous fourth quarter GDP number the yearly GDP actually grew slightly last year. It's not like all economic activity has stopped."

GDP is not a valid indicator. One way it can go up is by devaluing the currency. The other way it can go up is if people use capital to acquire businesses - it looks like a sale, but it isn't, it's just existing stuff being moved around between equal players.

Demand only happens when a lot of people with money (or credit) spend. Demand is not going to go up, it's going to tank even more, and take the economy with it.

***************************************************************

At present, Obama is clearly not getting to crux of the problems. And he probably won't be able to for a while b/c the political will is just not there.

"Study finds third of Americans under 65 had no health insurance at some point in the past two years." Well, people skate by without insurance all the time. Sometimes they stay healthy, sometimes they get sick and don't get treated, sometimes they end up in bankruptcy. The AARP estimates 1.85 million Americans go bankrupt every year due to medical bills. But that's less than 1% of the US population. When it happens in YOUR family it's devastating. But unless it happens en masse, people just won't care. So will Obama get the push he needs to change the health care system ? No, despite the fact that it's a vitally important POLICY issue.

Unemployment - the rate rose in February to 7.6%. That's somewhat under 1 in every 10 people. But if it's not YOU - why should you care ? Somewhat over 90% of people don't care. Fixing the job situation, extending unemployment benefits - not a concern to the vast majority of Americans.

The mortgage crisis - "Nearly 12% of all mortgages are either late, delinquent, or are in foreclosure." Roughly 1/3 of families are paying on a house. So 12% of 1/3 is roughly 4% of American families. Only 4% ! If people can ignore the 1/3 without health insurance and the 8% without a job, surely 4% losing their homes is vanishingly small. But there will be lots of good deals out there, you betcha'.

Banks - we have the recent example of Argentina closing its banks so that people couldn't withdraw their money, and then changing the currency and wiping out hoarding, and savings. But we're not there --- yet. And so banks will continue to operate the way they've been operating, and no one will care what they do. Any attempt at reform will be met with resistance to 'socialism'.

The same goes for many of the country's problems. Until unemployment is at 30%, and people are in bread lines to avoid starving on the street, and Hoovervilles spring up everywhere, any measure Obama tries to take will be seen as too extreme.

That's why these problems are not going to be fixed until they get much, much worse.

So Rue - It almost sounds like you're saying the only way to pull out of this dive is to aim straight at the ground and firewall the throttles. Which makes sense if you're a pilot, even if it sounds suicidal. When you've got a dead stick and a stalled aircraft, one quick way to get airflow across the control surfaces so you can have control again is to put the nose straight down, so you can build up speed to more quickly gain maneuverability.

So if it's not going to get better until it gets much worse, then let's hurry up the worse!

Sounds like you and I have the same idea in mind, but for much different reasons - like I said before, if we're going off a cliff, I call shotgun. If we're in a nosedive, slam those throttles forward and put that nose down!

I don't see a way to temporize out of this. Half-measures won't do.

So yeah, go for the gusto.

I like corny old jokes. Do you remember the beer commercial that went - you only go around once in this life, so you have to grab for all the gusto you can get.

The addendum by the jokesters went - of course, you might get slapped down once or twice ...

And I also like corny new jokes in commercials. I think my favorite are the 'real men of genius' commercials. Dignity is overrated ...

Anyway, it's been a long, long, looong day. Doing lots of family medical stuff, only this time around it's me spending 5 hours a day 4 days a week at trying to not hurt quite so much. So I'm going to sign off and call it a day's end.

I've been predicitng the great depression for a couple of years now. Had "Let's party like it's 1929" as my tag-line for a loooong time. Everybody thought "It couldn't happen". Signy, To you and your fellow Bush Derangement Sufferers FOR LIFE victims, you're all a bunch of gutless cowards and suicidal ideologues. You fail to address any point I make about your precious Obama. Instead you blast Bush and me.

Obama and his crack team of tax cheats are making it worse every day for our savings and retirement plans. He's bankrupting America for our children and their grandchildren. He's running amok with power and imaginary tax money. He's taken a economic crisis and used it as an excuse to initiate 40 years of Liberal bad ideas rejected in the past as disasterous, but because it's Obama it's all supposed to work now. What callous stupidity and demonic hijacking of American ecomonic and cultural values. Wall Street knows it, all citizens with any investments know it, but you and your merry band of pan flute players prance around in Obama bliss, oblivious to what's right in front of you.

I see Obama for what he truly is...... a mere figurehead, a pretty talker to give speeches to the ignorant masses, while Pelosi, Reid, and the far-Left Dems suck the lifeblood out of what's left of this economy in their demented quest to transform America into a socialist cradle-to-grave nanny-state for their loser misfit voter base. And, of course, if anyone disagrees with these plans, Obama and Emmanuel send out their on-call ex-Clinton smarmy attack dogs Carville & Begalia. What a freak show. How's your money doing under Obama pal? I guess you like going to the poorhouse.

Calling Barack, at this point, an important historical president is not only insane, but I think it's even so far as racist to say or believe.

It is true that he will be remembered (I'm sure in some bastardized form, either good or bad) in history lessons as being the first president that wasn't a white male, but other than that he has a long way to go before proving that he's going to be remembered in a favorible light.

In my eyes Georgie set it all up for Bamma to knock down. Two peas in a pod, them crazy characters. Two sides of the same coin.

Here's hoping that we as a nation can finally get past the color of his skin so political cartoonists can be funny again.

6ix, you should send your post to NBC, ABC, CBS, MSNBC, PBS, CNN, and even Fox. They all gushed with that phrase on Inauguration Day. It was almost as if he was the first Afican-American to ever do ANYTHING in America. It was so over-the-top I couldn't watch or listen to it. Maybe there's a fine line between " historically important" versus "important historically". No point.....

He is just an empty shell. I would have been just as critical of McCain right now. Nobody who really had a chance here would have stood for any kind of meaningful change.

Maybe if everyone is lucky he'll be good enough to escape his second term with a higher approval rating than Bush left with. Shouldn't be too hard to do since Bush was a hand puppet for Satan.

Kwik, Maybe, just maybe, if Clinton had responded in some meaningful way against Al Qaeda after they attacked us numerous times, 911 would not have occurred in the first place? Ever think about that? But hey, I'd take Bill Clinton back now as President for Life in a minute it was possible. Compared to Obama and the current crop of spendaholics and social re-engineers in Government, including lots of Republicans who are equally despicable, Bill Clinton was a fiscally responsible and diligently fair-minded President. The 1990's were great years for Americans. That's his legacy in my book. Bush & Cheney totally over-reacted to events after 911, and led America down a dark path for sure. A change was certainly in order, but I don't think we have to become European socialists and terrorist appeasers in the process of healing. There is a middle ground somewhere.

We were attacked.

The proper response would have been to drop a big old nuke and turned 50 square miles to glass.

9/11 would have just been a footnote now, instead of the second war that bankrupted America. (The first being the "War" on drugs).

I've said it before, I'll say it again...

You're real big on calling people "fucking coward", but I ask again, for the record, how many tours you did in Iraq or Afghanistan. You're so fucking gung-ho on war, WHY DIDN'T YOU EVER JOIN AND SERVE? Because you, you piece of dogshit, are a TRUE fucking coward. You have all the rhetoric, but have never once stood up for what you claim to believe in. And you never, ever will.

I brought up 9/11 because it's been your contention that the 9/11 attacks were hastened and enabled by Clinton's inaction - JUST AS THE ECONOMIC MELTDOWN WAS HASTENED AND ENABLED BY BUSH'S POLICIES! You want to whine and cry about how much Obama has spent, but you'll never utter a word about the abominable condition that Bush left our nation, our economy, and our world in, which made it UNAVOIDABLE that Obama would have to take drastic measures to dig us out of the hole that Bush and his cronies left us in.

Bush pissed away our nation's future chasing phantoms in Iraq, when he could have been securing our future by chasing REAL terrorists instead. Your idol, your hero, well and truly FUCKED this country, possibly in an irreversible way!

Deal with THAT, you fucking pussy.

I refuse to sit idly by when folks dismiss 9/11 and try to play it as some sort of political prop. The event really did happen. Nearly 3000 people really did die, and it wasn't the equivolent to some mud slide in Central America or the sum total of people who died in car accidents over the 4th of July Holiday across the country.

A group of very evil men planned, plotted and carried out this attack. While they carrying this attack out, flight attendants and pilots had their necks slit open w/ box cutters, as co-workers and passengers stared on and watched in stunned disbelief.

And for what ? What reason did they die for ? Why ?

I'll tell you why. Because of a religious mentality that thinks all such actions as slicing the throat of a young flight attendant was some how a holy and sanctioned act by Godâ„¢ himself.

It's not about Clinton getting serviced by an intern in the Oval Office.

It's not about how Bush mangles the English language.

It's about the Islamo wackos who want to convert or kill the rest of the planet, and don't care how much blood is spilled to accomplish their goals.
