America loves a winner!

1972: Nixon has a " list " of enemies, which, aside from political and labor leaders, consisted of many journalist and others in the media. The Press was OUTRAGED that the President would stoop to such a petty and personal level.

2009: Obama has HIS enemies list, which consists of those in the Right wing media and even private citizens, and the Press sees nothing wrong, and even sides w/ the President in vilifying those who oppose him.

When did Bush ever speak out against Michael Moore, or MOST of Hollywood ? Where was the campaign to besmirch and vilify Keith Olbermann?

Never happened. And yet, Obama has gone after private citizens , BY NAME, on more than one occasion. Be it Gibbs and his snarky comments in response to CNBC's Rick Santelli or Obama taking issue w/ Rush, this administration continues to prove it has a lot to learn in dealing w/ adversity.

Um... what presidency are you talking about? Because, it certainly can't be the last guy in office. You know the one. He started that cluster fuck in the middle east without any evidence to back up why he would want to get in there. That whole Gitmo thing. The general torture debate (e.g. is water boarding torture). Getting his cronies involved in "editing" scientific papers to fit his and his oil buddies personal/business agendas when those people had zero scientific training. Etc, etc, etc.

It suddenly dawned on my why they made McCain pick Palin- they wanted a Dem in the White House when the economy of cards came crashing down. They knew whoever was there couldn't make it work out well or quickly, so why not let the OTHER side look bad?
Now they're just hoping a recovery doesn't happen too soon so peeps will feel the pain & associate it not with the Republicans, but with Democrats, even both are responsible for this mess.

You might be right. But there is no denying that the Wall Street meltdown is in synch with Obama/Geithner's daily announcements. They're making the bad situation much, much worse. We can debate all day long about the causes that led us here, but since January 20th Obama has accelerated the pending disaster with spending plans that project generational debt in the 10's of trillions. Bush's bad numbers are miniscule in comparison.

Back to the politics of it that you brought up. McCain's nomination was bewidering and un-explainable. The only viable explanation I have is that the other candidates just plain sucked. I thought Rudy Guiliani might be the guy, but he had health and gut-check problems and dropped out. His campaign before that was a disaster. None of them knew how to run a campaign, how to appeal through the media, etc. A sad, pathetic lot for sure.

I was meaning to say that McCain had a solid and great chance to win the Presidency until he picked Palin & she opened her mouth. My mind was boggled why the didn't interview her for the position before choosing her. Sure, she temporarily invigorated his campaign because she was female (& quite a good looking one too), but she ultimately dragged him under the bus with her baggage & lack of worldly knowledge (and that prank phone call to her from the supposed President of France didn't help either).

That theory works, save for one minor detail. McCain, not Palin, was the flaw which doomed the GOP and paved the way for O's historic victory. A better choice would have been Romney. But the powers that be chose the old soldier instead, knowing the outcome would be like it was in '92. When they saw they still had a chance, they chose Palin, and were it not for the crash and McCain's idiotic vote for the first TARP bail out bill... things might be different. But notice how the $$ from the massive stimulus bill doesn't really kick in until Summer of 2010, right before what ?

Midterm elections.

Designed only to stimulate the Dems come election time, and not save the country until then. Bravo.

I know. Let the country fail, and the people suffer, until it's time for election, and then when the economic cycle has already begun to swing up, and there's a huge infusion of our grandchildren's $$ into the system, folks will be easily distracted by the bread and circuses from the Imperial Federal Government, and folks will fall for the political shell game being played.

If W was a purely company man, and was putting the party over the needs of the country, he'd have kicked the IRAQ can down the street, for someone ELSE to deal with. But W chose the tougher road, and took the arrows for it.

He also put country over party when he attempted, and was shot down by both parties, to fix Social Security. I think he should have pushed harder, and taken the issue to the people, because in less than 10 yrs, SS will start paying out more $$ than it takes in , and this country will absolutely begin to bleed to death, financially.

What ever is left of the country, by then.

And I never claimed W was the GREATEST anything. I love how you on the left ALWAYS exaggerate, twist ,distort and blow things completely out of proportion.

I'm glad we had W instead of Gore or Kerry as President. Flaws and all, the world is a better place for it.

It was tough to deal w/ the cries of "quagmire" and the nut jobs like Cindy Sheehan. Bush could easily side stepped the whole issue, and let the " world community " deal w/ Iraq.

He clearly chose the tougher road.

Yo, Biped, I could choose to punch every dope that gets in my face, and that would make my life more difficult. The "tough road" YOU speak of is simply a pain in the ass. The one I speak of is the one requires THOUGHT, an apparently difficult task for Mr. Bush.

Wow. Talk about not seeing the trees for the forest.

It is not those who use the term "Islamo-Fascism" who are sullying the name of Islam; it is the Islamo-Fascists. - Dennis Prager

A concern of the GOP is that the people aren't informed enough to understand their policies, while a fear of the Dems is that the people ARE.

Rap, Don't worry about these Obama worshippers. Even the most ardent Obama toe-licker will be screaming for his head in a few months if they used to have any savings or investments. Of course all the pathetic losers of society who suck blood from hard-working Americans will always cling to their savior Obama.

Yes, just as all you pathetic Bush dick-lickers are only now starting to admit that maybe, just MAYBE, he wasn't the greatest American President, but a total and utter failure on every conceivable level!

Let's see how loud you crow when you have no money and no job. Sometime soon, when you're cooking a potato on a stick over a 60-gallon drum, at least you can take solace that Obama didn't pour water on anyone in the process of destroying our country and our way of life. You can still be proudly holding your Bush is Hitler sign as a fellow bum slits your throat for a dollar. You'll be able to thank Obama for that. He's an absolute fraud and an un-abashed LIAR. Pelosi never would be getting away with her far-Left bankruptcy of the country if Hillary was the President. Obama, is just a Trojan Horse, out of which spills his Staff Of "Change"...all a bunch of tax cheats, pornography attorneys, and shameless Clintonista hacks. Wall Street looks ahead and predicts trends for the future. They're saying Obama's spending programs are doomsday for Americans. But you keep hating Bush, and that may get you through it somehow.

America loves a winner!

There was plenty of thought. It was a "slam dunk", and Bush still needed more to go on than just the word from his CIA director.

I'm never over the top Chris. You know that.

There are 10's of thousands of companies that trade stocks. The vast majority of them are not crooked. You can't just laugh away our market system of capitalism over a few rotten apples. It doesn't justify the gutting of our way of life by pursuing Govt socialism and cradle-to-grave entitlement programs. That wrong thinking has already bankrupted California.

Like I said, I don't have a crystal ball. I just know that every financial person I know says we're going down the tubes over this massive multi-trillion dollars of spending, and attacking the small business of America 'aint much of a plan either. You and Kwikko and the rest keep laughing at us as you defend Obama lies. How you can do it in light of your disappearing savings and retirement plans is beyond me.

I fixed the sentence for you teacher. Glad your money's safe. I guess you didn't own any stocks, mutual funds, IRA's 401K's, etc. Tens of millions of Americans do however. You have ANY sympathy for them?

Yes, I do actually. This plan that Obama is using is not what I would choose, it has the potential for massive long-term debt, but so would any plan I could devise. I don't see any easy solutions here, and I'm not a good enough economist to definitely say Obama's plan WON'T work. I will say it seem iffy to me.
Btw, my Wife's 401 took a little hit...

Yes, it WAS funny! I'm a bit riled up these days, likely as a result of watching too much cable news & getting my financial statements. Sometimes my typing can't keep up with my thoughts. I hear what you're saying about these plans, but jumpin' jesus, every day, every damn day, it's another mutil-billion dollar package or bailout, or trillion dollar program for some liberal tenet of the Robin Hood variety. It's downright discouraging to say the least.

FREMDFIRMA

And the other side felt the same way about massive no-bid contracts where the work never even got done - and endless slush to defense contractors most folk wouldn't trust to pour piss out of a boot if the directions were stamped on the heel.

In all truth, there's not really a dimes worth of difference between the previous resident of 1600W Penn and this one, other than where the abuses happen and where the money goes - essentially they're part of the same machine with the same agenda and different ways of going about it, is all.

What you are seeing, what you are tearing your hair out about, is the same shit that was foisted on the OTHER end of the socio-political spectrum for eight straight years, with you standing behind it holding a pair of pom-poms cheering for all you were worth - despite the fact that BOTH presidents agendas were, and still are, detrimental to ALL of us, even you.

Which is, of course, why no one has an ounce of sympathy for you when you throw a hissy at being on the recieving end of the same type of Constitutonal abuses you fucking celebrated when you were on the dishing end, yes ?

W was definately a fuckup, Obamalamadingdong is very probably a fuckup, and UNLESS WE GET OUR SHIT TOGETHER FAST, whoever replaces him will probably be a fuckup too.

But no, you'd rather sit there and pule and whine about how awful it is to have to eat from the same platter you and yours dished out to everyone else, too busy trying to defend your own hypocrisy to actually accomplish any damn thing - to me that's the very definition of useless.

Dude, look, Bush fucked it up, ADMIT that and let's get on with a boot up Obamas ass before he can fuck it up worse.

Or you could piss and moan some more.

Your choice, but it's the last chance imma give you on the matter before I start treating you like just another brainless, useless idiot who places party above country, and both above it's people.

Sorry, Jongs, but that ain't gonna happen. Didn't happen when Carter was in office, didn't happen when Reagan took over and unemployment went UP, didn't happen under Daddy Bush, when unemployment spiked again, didn't happen under Clinton and the dot-com burst, didn't happen under Dubya and his myriad fuck-ups (is the plural of fuck-ups "fucks-up"? Just wondering...), ain't likely to happen under Obama. Unemployment hits 10 or 11 percent, I'll still be working. Why? Because it's what I do, darlin'. It's what I do.
