Hmmmm... Is he making this up? I've always heard that the "college elite" are all "left-wing loons" who vote Democrat? Could it be that that's just another one of those conservative myths?

Can't tell if you are being intentionally obtuse, or it's just your normal not paying attention mode.
The quote is correct, college-EDUCATED and college-GRADUATE have always been GOP voters. The perpetual college-STUDENT and college NON-GRADUATE sectors are liberals, voting mostly for Democrats. One they enter the real world, they open their eyes, grow up, and vote GOP.

Classic Liberal mistake. Assuming those who don't share your view points feel inferior to you or even give a damn what you think.

We don't.

.

Anyway, I am no liberal. You keep calling me that, yet you have no evidence that this is what I am. You believe this only because I voted for Obama. It never occurred to you that I voted for Obama because at this point in time I believe that he is the BEST choice of a person to lead this ravaged country. I am actually a conservative, but you call me a liberal only because I don't believe in your steal-food-from-the-mouths-of-children ideology. Greedy, closed minded idiots like you should be put up against the wall.

You and your leader Rush LimTARD can go fish up a tree.

-River

Not a liberal? How delusional must one be to believe this?

Thanks for clearing that up. I was under the impression that Bill Clinton, Barack Obama, and Jimmy Carter had graduated college. Guess I was wrong...

Also, it's good to know that the ivory-tower Ivy League intellectual elite are now the college non-graduate sector.

Yes, I'm feeling a little schitzoid here...did I graduate or NOT?
Must I vote differently now?
If so, how?
AU & JSF both seem to speak for all Conservatives, who is the true authority here???

"Nothing unusual there: Republicans have owned the college-graduate vote."
An even break between D and R for college graduates doesn't indicate to me that R 'owns' the demographic. OTOH it does appear to be true that D does 'own' every other demographic.

"The quote is correct, college-EDUCATED and college-GRADUATE have always been GOP voters."
They apparently are ALSO democratic voters - in equal numbers.

Oh, BTW Rue, Chris, Kwicko... Apparently you just don't understand what rapo means. He doesn't really mean college-educated or college graduate. What he REALLY means is... people who graduated from college who aren't liberal! In other words, ya gotta exclude the Ivy League schools (which would more or less exclude Bush; but who's counting?), Berkeley, UCLA, and, well... pretty much the whole UC system. ANY university that teaches "Liberal Arts". NYC universities. All foreign universities, or USA universities with foreign programs. ANY university that has applied for, or will apply for, an ESC research grant. All PhD candidates. So, pretty much limited to the agricultural colleges. Yanno, THOSE college graduates!

Golly, 2006? Could we possibly find an off-Presidential election year with unusually large liberal turnout to prove that historically a demographic does not vote the way they do? 2006 would be that choice.
Your figures show that, in a predominantly liberal turnout, College Grads were even for both parties, and represented over a quarter of the vote, and Some College had a 4% margin, representing almost a third of the votes - whoooo, impressive.

Let's try 2004:
No HS (4%) 49%R 50%D
HS Grad (22%) 52%R 47%D
Some Coll (32%) 54%R 46%D
Col Grad (26%) 52%R 46%D
Post Grad Study (16%) 44%R 55%D

There appears to show almost a third of voters had some college, giving an 8% margin for GOP, and another quarter of voters as College Grads wiht a 6% margin.

How about 1988?
College 58%R 42%D
High School 54%R 46%D
Grade School 45%R 55%D

Hmm, not the greatest breakdown, but "College" has a 16% margin - that being the largest margin of the 3 breakdowns shown (didn't find better breakdown.

How about 1984?
College 61%R 39%D
High School 57%R 43%D
Grade School 49%R 51%D
Well, then "College" group only showed a 22% margin, and was still the largest margin of the groups listed. One might conclude that "College" voters were more likely to vote GOP. huh.

So, when it comes to proving that historically, GOP voters were concentrated among the College Grads, I guess you really did your homework - or were you just being selective?

Even in your example of 2006, the margins for the College groups (0% and 4%) were significantly more GOP than the other groups (8% for next largest group). Golly, that's like, in line with, the other data, like man.

Of course, the original reference stated the elections of 1988 and 1992, and stated "they never returned" (the college grads who voted GOP). So picking 2006 as an example is sorta......?

And you brought up 1992, and then DIDN'T post those numbers.
Could that be because Clinton won?

I'd like to see the numbers for '92, '96, and 2000. Double-aught might be interesting, since a Republican "won" the election, but not the popular vote. Wonder how that one would skew...

"So, when it comes to proving that historically, GOP voters were concentrated among the College Grads, I guess you really did your homework - or were you just being selective?"

Nope, just did quick google to see where things stand. And where they are NOW - not so good for your 'side'.

And you had to go all the way back to '88 and '84 ? It makes me wonder about all those other years - the ones it seems like you had to skip over. I'll have to check them out. Thanks for highlighting them for me.

If ANYONE is delusional its the legion of idiots that follow Rush, and his idiotic view of things, and it will be the death of this divisive country mark my words on this.

Disagree with ya on this, River. It won't be the death of this country - only of that particular party!

That's why I'm all for it. Kill the Republican party, let it wither and die, because in its place will sprout two new parties - one, a far-right fascist party of neo-cons like Rush and 'Rap, the other (larger) one a party of the center, of the rational, of the REAL Consevatives, who want not what Rush wants, but rather what THE COUNTRY wants.

The "On Fire" Economy -
The Dow closed at 10,587.60 on January 20, 2001, the day GW Bush took office. Eight years later, it closed below 8000 on the day he left office - a net loss of 25%. That's what conservatives call an economic "success".

I gave you many examples of my Conservatism views, but you have yet to give any examples of your own...No Wait, yes you did. All you've managed to do SO FAR is parrot everything your GOD Rush Limbaugh says, and to me that clown is NO Conservatism. What Rush needs is to be tried and executed. That would be doing this recovering nation a serious favor, but as usual you are too stupid, or too ignorant to see it.

More childish insults, more lies with claims you've offered your conservative views and that you're a 'TRUE' conservative.

You won't answer a simple, straight forward question. I find that odd.

It is not those who use the term "Islamo-Fascism" who are sullying the name of Islam; it is the Islamo-Fascists. - Dennis Prager

A concern of the GOP is that the people aren't informed enough to understand their policies, while a fear of the Dems is that the people ARE.

This even though A.I.G. ceo Liddy explained there have been death threats directed toward those contracted to be given bonuses, and making their names public might endanger the employees , and their families. Barney Frank still doesn't give a damn, even if ALL the $$ is given back, he's been given an opportunity to make a 3 Ring Circus out of this and shift blame away from himself and the OTHER Dems who caused all this mess in the 1st place.

"Gov't control of private business. The very DEFINITION of fascism. Pure and simple."

At this point the government (that's us) is an 80% shareholder in AIG. It didn't take 'control' - it did a buy out. That's the capitalist way.

The alternative is for AIG to cease to exist.

Can't deny this part.
It's misplaced anger over the so-called AIG bonuses.

THAT would have been the capitalist way.

Claims that " we the people" are the Government any more, while noble, are naive and false.

The Imperial Federal Government is the tank, and "the people" is represented by the lone man standing in front.

The U.S. economy WAS on fire under Bush, for 6 years. Until the Democrats took control of Congress. It's been all down hill since then.

Yes, because then the Gov't would be in the business of choosing winners and losers, and that exceeds its proper function.
