"We'll know our disinformation program is complete when everything the American public believes is false." -- William Casey, Reagan's presidential campaign manager & CIA Director (from first staff meeting in 1981)

I keep seeing this story brought up in the news. I have to ask:

Did you all not realize these things existed? Hell, we were racing them for shits and giggles eight or nine years ago. They'd turn up at the autocross, because racers know that ANYTHING you can put wheels and a motor on, can be raced! They wouldn't let us run them on the official course, but there were some impromptu races taking place around the pits.

I've even witnesses a few belt-sander races. And a Seqway race.

Bah - paint adds weight, rust removes it! :)

Yup. If it has a motor or an engine, it can be raced. And it WILL be raced.

Hell, some of the pit crews bring 3.5hp Margarita machines, so they can celebrate their wins faster than anyone else!

I'd wager Frem's even raced a scooter or two in his day. It's human nature, apparently.

Hell Mikey, scooters, lawnmowers, cars, even a pair of powered roller skates once!

But the crown topper was in tribute to my mom, me and a couple other troops on Ft Lee put together a demo derby "basher" (specifically modified and overbuilt, not usually allowed in most arenas) out of a late 70's lincoln town car and used it in the local circuit down there, we about broke even, maybe a little less, and by the time we shipped out and handed the car down to a new trio, it looked like something out of a mad max movie from being mashed up, sawed up, and clobbered back together so much...

But damn it was fun!

Didn't live up to mothers legend neither, but that's mostly cause I am TOO aggressive and don't sandbag it even when I should, heh heh heh.
