Yup... seems to be the norm lately. They value their customers so much they go out of the way to avoid them.

yea, extremely annoying, especially for someone in my position. I work at a technical support line and quite often I'll get calls that aren't for technical support, but I was the only number the caller could find.

"Haha, mine is an evil laugh."

I believe in solving problems, not sharing them.

At least you didn't get a number that placed you in an endless loop of "For current account information press one, for loans press two ..." and then drops your call! My bank has absolutely NO NUMBER just to speak to someone except for opening an account. So I go there. It's very annyoing for both of us.

paints a very funny picture to me! Does it to you too?

Ayep, but the "sell you more shit" line is clearly indicated, open 24-7 and fully staffed, isn't it ?

To which my response is "no sale".

Unless I got no choice, I will not do business with a "machine", and if I should happen to find myself in phone-tree runaround hell, I got some right... *interesting* ...software which gets loaded just prior to their phone system going completely haywire.

Here's one hint you can drop to those folks, if you do not MAN your phones, someone else can take control of them, and international phone sex lines can be expensive.

Yup, it seems that some genius figured out that paying an actual human to waste time talking to customers was a huge expense for most companies, so to save money they've decided that they should just route you into phone-tree hell.
