There is something so wrong here.
At BEST government is for getting in a man's way.
At WORST it makes rich peeps richer while getting average peeps sicker or dead.

You Obama/Bush worshipers need some wake-up juice.

Oh, and sorry AU.

I'm too old to trust anyone.

Lookit Billy-boy Clinton: NAFTA, CAFTA, SHAFTA; the DMCA; welfare "reform". Sure he did some things right but he did a lot of things wrong too. Nobody is fully trustworthy especially in Washington.

To expound on my earlier post - my impression all along was that Obama was an expert at understanding the levers of a system and then using them. As such, he is inclined to see 'the system' (any system, whether Chicago politics, the democratic party, Washington or certain big business) as a source of power. And he therefore would want to keep the system the same, and not challenge it, reform it, or dismantle it. After all, the system has always worked for him.

My only question was how deeply entrenched were his preferences. By watching the bank and WS bailouts (deeply misdirected IMO), I have come to believe his focus on and reliance on the system is deeply entrenched, possibly even a part of his character (as the one who 'makes good' under its approving eye).

Do not expect any divergent populist moves on his part.

As I mentioned a long time ago - WE will have to apply pressure to get him to move in the direction we want.

His take on health care isn't looking too good, either - unless you're an insurance company CEO, that is...

And yet - he was a better choice than McCain.

A McCain presidency would have enshrined Cheney, Rove et al forever in an immoveable administration. Whatever we got over the last 8 years would have been amplified many-fold.

Obama, as deeply wedded as he is to the system, is moveable - IF enough pressure is applied.

Hmm, here's a concept idea for ya.

After you take the oath of office, they snap a tamper proof collar around your neck with a pound of C-4 built into it.

Every american has a red button on the back of their drivers license, and if they think you have violated that oath, they push it.

If 66% or more of them push it, the collar explodes.

Hell, that one's such a decent idea I think it would be viable to apply it to congressfolk and their constituents as well - althought Mrs Conyers would prolly be annoyed at us after having to replace the carpets...

Waste of C4. An ounce would prolly suffice. Reminds me of Burt Gummer in Tremors II...

*Burt has just blown up a Graboid, speaking into a tape recorder*
Memo to self - 4 pounds of C-4 may be a bit...

*pebbles rain down onto his helmet*
... excessive.

Obama Halves Chrysler's Planned Marketing Budget

Task Force Agrees Automaker Needs Advertising -- Just Not $134 Million Worth

By Jean Halliday

Published: May 11, 2009
DETROIT (AdAge.com) -- Chrysler wanted to spend $134 million in advertising over the nine weeks it's expected to be in bankruptcy -- the U.S. Treasury's auto-industry task force gave it half that.

So if GM, which is wrestling with the possibility of a Chapter 11 filing itself, is wondering how much influence the task force will have over marketing, the answer is: plenty. However, transcripts from the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for Southern District of New York, where the Chrysler case is being heard, proved for the first time that the task force at least understands that advertising is a necessary expense -- even if it doesn't think Chrysler needs $134 million for nine weeks of car ads.

Seems all those yrs as a COMMUNITY ACTIVIST have honed the ONE'S business skills so well, he knows what's best in advertising too!

Kinda reminds me of N.Korea's own, GREAT LEADER...

Kim Jong-il: Best Golfer in the World

This is from a couple years ago- but it's too good not to post. North Korean leader, Kim Jong-il is the best golfer in the world, hands down. On his first ever trip to the golf course, he shot 38-under par, including 5 hole-in-ones! This is reported by the government controlled media. He routinely shoots 3 or 4 hole-in-ones every time out.

But out in the real world, don't you have to HAVE money to spend money?

And what's the downside of seeing less commercials for ChryCo's shitty cars?

Oh, wait - how will this affect Truck Month?

Amen!

The hypocrisy of both the Democrats and Republican is astonishing. Throughout the Bush era, Republicans smeared any American who disagreed with or criticized the administration and official government policy as unpatriotic and other crazy accusations. Now that the Obama era has begun, Democrats have smeared any American who disagrees with or criticizes the administration and official government policy as unpatriotic and other crazy accusations.
