What the IRL has done to the Indy 500 is a sin, only 1 engine allowed, HONDA. Now I think HONDA is a great engine, but all the car companys from around the world would show up at Indy to show off what they had. This is a joke.

Firestone is owned by Bridgestone, which is a sneaky Americanized name of a Jap company.

The Dallara spec chassis is from Italy.

The Nazis did win World War 2.

Eddie Rickenbacker's spittin bullets in this grave.

Actually, the British Empire founded fascism, aided and abetted by Nazi Sir Oswald Mosely, whose Nazi son Max runs F1 today. Max took over the Indy car industry in the 1980s with March company in England.

Smart thing Honda did for the past 50 years is train their factory engineers at the racetracks of Formula One (though they quit all racing last year due to the global Depression). Honda at Indy is not even Honda, it's Mugen subcontractor in Japan, using old F1 tech.

The founders of all US car companies were racing drivers and race engineers, including Henry Ford. But the 2nd & 3rd Gen owners skipped the racing and engineering apprenticeship and were promoted straight to greedy fatcat, then sold out to Wall Street banksters who don't even drive.

And your point is? What, are you still mad because Goodyear pulled out of pretty much everything but NASCAR? Whose fault is that? I guess all the other tire companies should just stop racing or developing tires and beg Goodyear to bring their ball back and come play again.

Again, so what? Dallara chassis have been very successful - enough so that it's cheaper for the teams to buy a Dallara off the shelf than to develop their own chassis. Many have tried, and failed, and blown a shit-tonne of money in the process. Maybe at some point when they have more disposable income, another company will give it a go. For now, though, Dallara seems to be the only game in town. Hey, IndyCar and the IRL wanted to keep costs down, and they have, but at the cost of some competition among chassis and engine makers.

I'll alert the Schickelgrüber-Hitlers, so they don't have to kill themselves after all.

He may well be, but that would have little to do with much of anything, since he never flew against the Nazis, and his car company was long gone even before WWII. So what is it that's got ol' Dead Ed so hoppin' mad, anyway?

Huh. You'd think if he took over Indy, they'd have been more successful. Has Tony George been notified?

Well, yes and no. Honda does indeed have a long history in racing and F1, as does Mugen. The two companies are completely independent of each other, though, and Mugen is not any kind of "subcontractor" to Honda - Mugen was formed by Hirotoshi Honda, the eldest son of Honda Motor Company founder Soichiro Honda. Mugen does focus almost exclusively on Honda cars for customization, and Hirotoshi Honda is the largest shareholder of Honda stock since his father's death, but the companies remain wholly independent of one another.

Honda at Indy is indeed Honda. And it's rather ironic that they are the single engine supplier for the IndyCar teams, since the other carmakers fought so hard to keep Honda OUT of IndyCar. Of course, then they decided they wanted out, too, so left IndyCar without an engine, at which time they went begging to Honda.

Again, would you rather everybody else just quit racing at Indy altogether, since no one else is willing to supply engines to the racing teams?

As for "old F1 tech" at Indy... it'd have to be pretty freaking old. And Honda probably isn't using much of it in their engines, since Indy cars run V8s, and F1 didn't make the switch to V8s until a few years ago - after which Honda was never really competitive. They did okay with some of the V10s, though, but there's almost nothing at all that's similar about those engine configurations. (For purposes of balance of firing pulses on ignition strokes, most high-revving V8s have 90-degree vee layouts, while most racing V10s have 72 degrees between the cylinder banks. Ferrari tried a "180-degree vee" a few years back, but it didn't do well; it was supposed to put all the weight very low in the chassis, but it didn't achieve the power it was supposed to, and the FIA later mandated that the engine configurations must adhere to a "true vee" configuration.)

Also, the V8s at Indy are redlining around 10,000rpm. F1 hasn't done that in YEARS. Current F1 engines are held to a maximum of 18,000rpm, down from their peak revs of over 20,000rpm just a couple years ago. That's how you get 950hp out of 2.4 liters without turbocharging - you spin it to the stratosphere.

Okay, so Indy decided to stay back in the 1970s with their technology. Is that so bad? Heck, NASCAR seems to have done okay sticking with their 1950s technology. Pushrod engines? Really? Carburetors? Seriously? The last production car you could buy in this country was in 1989 - the Subaru Justy. Is that the image NASCAR is going after?

Is it Formula One's fault that no American car company has wanted to play at their level for at least a generation? Is it anyone's fault but NASCAR that the best American drivers flock to NASCAR, where they can get a fat paycheck whether they win or not? Instead of bitching about "illegal aliens" in F1, IndyCar, and the former IRL, how's about supporting the series to make them more attractive to American sponsors and American drivers? As it stands, the only series Americans seem interested in is NASCAR, because it resembles their daily commute: horribly traffic moving slowly, and every goddam car looks exactly like the next one. :)

Oh, and the "indicted felon"? He was acquitted on all counts. Maybe you missed the news.

Aren't you indicted?

Guess that blows YOUR credibility, eh?

Or does that standard only apply to non-whites, in your world?
