No matter what we thought of him in his last years...he was still the pop culture icon of the 1980s and early 1990s.

At one point I've had Thriller on LP, cassette x2 and CD. I still remember being a sophomore in high school gathering in the current events teacher's classroom because he was letting everyone watch the Thriller video premier on MTV (back when they showed videos)

Today it's virtually impossible to think about Michael Jackson without thinking about him being a potential pedophile. Despite that, I can't help but feel a sadness upon hearing of his passing.

Michael Jackson defined pop culture and music for an entire generation.

As one right-leaning commentator has written on her website, "he was a musical genius in his early days before he succumbed to Hollyweird and that's what I'll choose to remember."

May he finally rest in peace.

He was a victim of the self-hating crap our white society forced upon him.
Or he was just a talented nut.
Take your pick.

To me, he died after deciding to make himself 'whiter'.

I believe in solving problems, not sharing them.

Icons come. Icons go. IMHO- Michael Jackson had become a joke. One fucked-up dude who hated himself for being black and male (looks like he was aiming at being a Diana Ross impersonator) and couldn't quite get himself to admit he was a gay pedophile. I never really could get into his music either.

----------------------
We should have strapped him into a glider, filled it nose heavy w/ explosives, and dropped his Allah lovin' ass into a large, empty field. After which, release wild boars into the area so they could make good use of his remains. Now THAT's justice.- rappy

Yeah, that's what Sheikh Issa said. Seems you both have a lot in common.- signy

Personally, I don't wish death on anybody and I have condolences for those close to him. He was a great musician of his day, but let's face it, the guy stayed outta jail coz he paid people off. Even during his trial he was playing up like it was a game. He was a freaky nut who shoulda been in jail when he karked it.I feel very little sympathy for him. When the coroner opens him up they might even find a black man!!!

He was a freak, but I've never been convinced that he was a pedophile. I think it may have been possible that he like sleeping in the same bed with young kids without there being anything sexual about it. Did you ever go to a slumber party as a kid? A sleepover? Was it about sex?

Thing is, I think for most of his adult life, MJ was still trying to have a happy childhood. He never really got to be a kid or do the things kids do, and I think he might have just been trying to have a "normal" childhood, but was years late doing it.

'Course, that's just a theory. I wasn't crazy about his music either, but that man sure as hell could dance.

Once again, the enablers of personal self-destruction prey on a cult of personality. Michael was the walking dead for the last few years, and I feel sad that he has died. His whole family fed off of him like leeches, and now they will likely all trip over themselves to get whatever they can out of his estate.

I'm just sad for his kids at this point. They're innocent and yet they'll be at the center of many a legal battle for years to come.

I gotta admit, though. I must've been behind on my pop-culture because I knew about Prince Michael and Paris, but the third child . . . Blanket. You gotta be kidding me. BLANKET?

LWAVES

I feel sorry for his genuine family and loved ones that he's left behind but I can't feel sorry for him.

He may not have been found guilty of anything but he wasn't found innocent either. And if you are genuinely innocent you don't pay people off. To me that says a lot.
The guy was warped and should have been in some kind of institute years ago, not acting as a role model for the younger generations.

I can't say that I'm glad he's dead (I wouldn't want that for most people) but I certainly won't miss him in anyway.

Guess this means we'll be getting an Ultimate Greastest Hits release. That'll rake some cash in to pay off his debts.

Ah - so it's your position that children cannot sleep in the same bed as adults without the adults molesting them, eh? Does that apply to your own kids sleeping in your bed, or are you only sexually attracted to other people's children?

So you would agree that out-of-court settlements should be introduced into evidence as proof of guilt, then? Rich people and rich corporations ROUTINELY pay people off to make them go away, because they don't want to go through the hassle of a trial and the discovery portion of it. Remember, that's where Jack Ryan's sex-club proclivities came out in his divorce from actress Jeri Ryan, which is what led to Barrack Obama becoming a senator. Ryan *could have* gone with a no-fault divorce, but decided he wanted to go to court, and every little detail about his life was brought up.

I don't think Jackson was a saint, but I'm not sure he was the monster that he's been portrayed as, either. Was he freaky? Yup. If I had kids, would I let them stay at Neverland? Nope. But that doesn't PROVE anything.

Guy's dead, so you angry mob can put down your pitchforks and torches already.

Are you really this dense or do you get off on being a contrarian?
What was at the heart of Michael's legal troubles? Was it when he slept in the same bed with his own kids or was it when he was alone in bed with his staff's children?
You made the assertion that one can have a sleepover without it being sexual. I agree if you are a kid and you have other kids over to sleep. What possible fun could an adult have sleeping with kids anyways? I can tell you the pillow fight would not be fair and some things might come out during truth or dare that are unfit consumption for certain ages.

HKCAVALIER

(edt: Oh, crap, Mike, sorry for getting your handle so wrong..."Quicko," sheesh!)

It's pretty likely, Kwicko. He had a lot of pretty obvious characteristics of a survivor of childhood sexual abuse, his family behaves like a cultic abusive system, and it is mighty hard to break the cycle of abuse, while denying it, as he did--I'd say nigh on impossible. You can't get out without getting out, and he never got out. With his background, he should not have been sharing a bed with small children. When was the last time you slept in a bed with someone else's children, Mike? Who does that?

As for the settlement implying guilt, comparing CEO's to pedophiles is kinda like apples and hand grenades. A company can do a P & L analysis and decide that the court battle would cost 'em more, so they settle. But a non-pedophile who is not interested in clearing his name, who would choose to pay to remain infamous, well, that doesn't seem right, does it?

I'm sorry he died. I always hoped that he would see his way clear of it all one day. Such an extraordinary soul, so devastatingly damaged.

HKCavalier

I'm sure I have. Wasn't he the one who said New Orleans got what it deserved, and the U.S. got what it deserved on 9/11?

I don't recall MJ ever celebrating the deaths of Americans that way, do you?

By the way, were you on the jury that acquitted MJ of those child molestation charges a few years ago? How is it that the prosecution was able to present all their evidence, and the jury still found him not guilty? You seem sure he must've been up to no good, but a jury of twelve disagrees with you. Maybe you heard evidence they didn't.
