Bear in mind once again, that our current contract with site three and it's affiliated complexes is to not only serve the functions the police cannot be bothered to do, despite that (in theory) being WHY they suck up so much of the local tax budget, but also to act in a defensive role AGAINST those self same police, who have become corrupt and abusive.

Does it make sense to continue to have and pay the sumbitches when not only must you hire your own, but then have to face active predation and abuse from the bastards as well ?

My solution was to fire the whole goddamn dept, as some may recall, and wouldn't you know it, quality of life IMPROVED for the area in question, gee - who woulda thunk it ?

Far as I can tell, the company contracted in the article actually has a pretty good rep, and for the price it's not that bad a deal at all.

I forsee many communities here in the states doing something similar, this one already has, and with a median income that's pretty low (avg rent of the units is $550.00 USD/Month) it's not just affluent people who are interested or can afford it - so if your local PD is corrupt, abusive and useless as most of em are, it's something to perhaps get with your neighbors with and start talkin about.

And if you're not getting any BENEFIT from those badge bearing criminals - why the hell should you bother paying the sumbitches ?

Something ELSE you might wanna talk with your neighbors about.

Hmm, well it's not doing any harm I guess. I doubt it'll catch on. I live in a small Scottish hamlet, just in case you care, and there's no police station for quite a few miles. Guess I'm fucked if a serial killer goes on the loose, huh? :P

Erm, from what I know of Scotland I'd say you folks do a right good job of handling the occasional criminal element yourselves, mannnn...
I almost feel sorry for them poor bastards down at the airport in July 07, cause they picked the wrong people to screw around with.

The scary part is that I am only *half* jesting, cause it seems the only one crazy enough to mess with a Scotsman...

While the UK has it's share of pricks amongst the police force, being the source of the Peelian Principles in the first damned place, the rot isn't quite as bad as it is over here across the pond.

When American police went from Community Protection to Law Enforcement, they prettymuch abandoned those utterly.

I got em on the back wall of my office, and right underneath em a nice, heavy, old school wooden baton with wrist strap hanging from a hook, as a rather pointed reminder of just how pissed imma be if someone on MY payroll choses to engage in "conduct unbecoming", cause I got NO patience for that sorta thing.
