Okay, so I just happened to see a political ad on television saying that Utah's Senator Bennet was supporting a healthcare bill.

Well that kind of blew my mind, and I'm kind of wondering if there are winged pigs skating around Cocytus. But the substance of the commercial was an attack on the program with these three points: public option removing individual choice and plans already purchased from existing insurance companies, complete government control of health care, and "trillions" (no actual numerical figure given) of dollars in tax costs.

Right. Aside from number 2, which really won't manifest overtly in the form people think it will, all of those are either already disproven falsehoods or completely made up.

So I looked at the people who funded the commercial: "The Club For Growth." I got to their website, they claim to be a group of Republicans for limiting government spending. I check out their links...

American Shareholders Association. Business and Media Institute. The Federalist. Kudlow's Money Politics... etc. etc. etc.

I guess so that some folks filtering software doesn't block it, maybe ?

Beats me, I got no issue with profanity, myself.

Especially when it comes to fucking Federalists, who's agenda has been absolutely crystal clear since Adams and the Alien and Sedition Acts.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alien_and_Sedition_Acts
Compare to the Patriot Act, and tell me it's not been the same goddamn agenda all along ?

FFF is a pretty good forum, no nazi moderators, and aim to keep it that way.

Until Obama shuts down the internet.

Ah, Byte, you should keep going. The groups behind the people at the town hall meetings are pretty obvious to spot, once you ignore the cute names they gave themselves and see who runs the group! It's pretty amazing, and very distressing, to see just HOW easily these poor pawns have been duped into believing they're working for the common good, keeping the damned Socialists at bay, etc., etc.

The fact is they're working for the very people who want to keep the status quo and keep milking them as long as they can, covering less and less medical costs, upping their premiums, etc. They're paid CORPORATIONS who do exactly what they're doing to earn their keep.

But nobody checks. So it goes on...sadly...and people who might actually think for themselves and have valid questions to ask can't ask those questions, because the pawns that work for the people who want to stop ANY discussion shut them down. Amazing, isn't it?

Dream: Yes, he does, and it's one of the things I respect about McCain that he USUALLY doesn't toe the party line and speaks out against that with which he disagrees. He has, on occasion tho', supported them in the past.

Re: Club for Growth, a Right-Wing organization:

"The Club invented the "RINO Watch" list to monitor "Republican office holders around the nation who have advanced egregious anti-growth, anti-freedom or anti-free market policies." (RINO is a pejorative acronym for Republican In Name Only.)

On September 19, 2005, the Federal Election Commission filed suit against the Club for Growth for violations of the Federal Election Campaign Act for failing to register as a political action committee in the 2000, 2002, and 2004 congressional elections.[3] In September, 2007 the Club for Growth agreed to pay $350000 in civil penalties."

Sephen Moore, who founded it, "is a strong supporter of radio host Rush Limbaugh, calling him a good spokesman for Republicanism." 'Nuff said, tho' more could be.

Patrick J. Toomey was it's president:

According to Wikipedia: "the conservative American Conservative Union (ACU) has assigned him a lifetime congressional rating of 97%, and the liberal Americans for Democratic Action (ADA) a lifetime "Liberal Quotient" of 6%. As tracked by special interest groups monitoring key votes on relevant issues, he has been rated:

72% by the libertarian Cato Institute (Dec 2002)
78 by the Republican Liberty Caucus (RLC) on its 'Liberty Index', indicating what the RLC considers to be a libertarian-leaning voting record. (1999-2004)
90% by the United States Chamber of Commerce, indicating what the Chamber considers to be a pro-business voting record. (Dec 2003)
"A" by the National Rifle Association (NRA), indicating what the NRA considers to be a pro-gun rights voting record. (Dec 2003)
100% by the Christian Coalition of America (CCA), indicating what the CCA considers to be a "pro-values" voting record. (Dec 2003)"

Kinda says it all.

Its current President is Chris Chocola:

Firm supporter of Bush;
Chocola was a cosponsor of the Federal Marriage Amendment in 2003 and voted for that Amendment when it came to the floor in 2004. He again was a cosponsor of the Marriage Protection Amendment in 2006 (H.J. Res. 88) and voted for the amendment on July 18, 2006.

He voted in 2005 for an amendment to the Constitution preventing the desecration of the American flag.

Voted for the Permanent Estate Tax Relief Act in June 2006. The bill permanently exempted personal estates of less than $5 million per spouse from estate taxes, and lower the tax rate on larger estates.

In the summer of 2006, voted for a bill that would allow private companies to drill for oil in ANWR.

Is in favor of privitization of Social Security.

This group funds a lot of things and has funded ads aimed at seniors with are slanted and/or downright lie about health care reform bill facts.

Ya know, it really IS funny to watch them, if it weren't so damned sad at the same time. You have, in essence, groups of people who are showing up at town halls at the behest of their right-wing masters, all hopped up on rage and indignation, shouting, basically, "DON'T TAKE AWAY MY RIGHT TO GO BANKRUPT WHEN I'M HIT WITH A CATASTROPHIC ILLNESS! SUPPORT MY RIGHT TO BLOW MY LIFE SAVINGS GIVING A CEO A BETTER VACATION AND A BIGGER BONUS NEXT YEAR!! DON'T TAKE AWAY MY RIGHT TO PAY HIGHER PREMIUMS FOR LESS ACTUAL HEALTHCARE!!"

That, in reality, is what they're fighting for.

Mike

No kidding.

Of course you must realize that now you're outed yourself as an "operative", right?

Right on, Mike. You called it, in spades. And yes, it WOULD be funny to watch, and sometimes I do even get a giggle out of it (especially when they fall on their faces or get their foot stuck in their mouth), but as you said, it's awfully sad and given that it may well affect my life, scary and infuriating.

For people who scream so loudly about freedom of speech, then work so hard to stifle OTHERS' freedom of speech, the hypocrisy is amazing.
