Uh-huh.... and Im sure CNN would have run this story even if the current President didn't want his bill to go thru so badly...

Or if Healthcare had not become such a focal point in the country.

Im also sure CNN did a thorough and complete job in looking up, and verifying this information.

Im likewise assured that this is in no way meant to manipulate public perception...

Gettin' old, but still a hippie at heart...

CNN might well have run it, whatever else was happening. I see stories like that all the time on one thing or another. Of course it's more relevant at present; that doesn't make it something to ignore.

Rachel Maddow did a neat one last night. She put up a map of America, then said which states are most active in giving their young women that shot which prevents the disease which so often causes cervical cancer in women. Three Northeastern states. Which are lowest? Three states in the South.

She went on to light up the states who have the most teen pregnancy; who have the lowest birth-rate babies; who have the most infant deaths; etc. It was ALL in the South, and mostly three specific states (I forget which, South Carolina was one of them in all areas, and two states right next to them or one state away from them).

Then she said which states are most fervent in their rejection of healthcare? Same states.

And yes, Rachel Maddow DOES have her people research everything down to the last detail, so don't tell me otherwise...I've checked her on other things and been amazed sometimes how hard it is to find the facts she cited, but to eventually find them in several reputable sources. She's got more resources available to her people, and the money to do it with.

Yes, it's topical so she probably wouldn't have devoted the time and resources to it if it weren't a focal point. But isn't that what they're SUPPOSED to do: report on current events?

Your presupposing that everything is fallacious, reported JUST because it's topical, and intended to "manipulate" people is indicative of your attitude. Apparently you believe everything reported (or at least things you disagree with) is intended to manipulate, never to educate? Maybe if you looked beyond your first instincts, you might have a slightly more open mind, and LEARN some things, instead of rejecting them out of hand. Just a thought.

Ummmm... Wulfie? You ARE aware that CNN is the network of Lou Dobbs, noted "Birther", right? And that's also the network Glenn Beck was with until just a couple years ago? I'm not sure they're exactly in Obama's corner, much less in his pocket.

At this point, I don't trust any news network.

Fox, CNN, NPR.... they ALL have a stake in things... maybe not the corporations themselves, but the people working them sure do have an agenda.

??? What? Are you saying that the BBC did not promote the disarmament of the British populace? Either directly or indirectly?

Is anyone else here really kinda shocked at the shoddy reporting on NPR these days? They used to be leaders in thorough, even-handed reporting, but these days they just gloss over everything to the point that they miss the real stories. It's almost as if they write up the stories and then someone at the top redacts everything but the most neutral platitudes and cute human interest pablum. I find it depressing to listen to.

Hey, hey, hey, don't be mean. We don't have to be mean, because, remember, no matter where you go, there you are.

Kinda smells like a mandate from the top to ease up on the thourough & become a bit more mainstream to ensure longevity.
Plus: dwindling resourses.

Ok, I gotta run for the weekend.

Just think on this....

What do the news agencies, both right and left WANT you to believe?

Do they serve the truth, or their funding, their own personal politics?

My current experience with US healthcare is beating my head into the wall, I think insurance or public health is not the answer. We need complete freedom to choose our healthcare. These gateway channels are nonsense.

Can you not choose your own, as long as you're paying for it?

"What do the news agencies, both right and left WANT you to believe?"

Too many studies done too many ways measuring too many parameters all point to the same thing: publicly paid health care means fewer neonatal deaths, fewer permanently damaged children; and longer, healthier lives for adults. It means EVERYONE is covered. It means nobody grows broke trying to get or stay alive - or dies trying to save money. And it's cheaper overall.

What's not to love about it ?
