Gettin' old, but still a hippie at heart...

Sorry, but it doesn't wash for me. Not sure how else he could have handled it--pay the guy off? I think he handled it okay under the circumstances, all things considered, and I'm not surprised his assistant became his live-in girlfriend. I'll bet you money he makes fun of himself down the line...he's an entertainer.

His crack wasn't about a 14-year-girl, Palin just played it for all it was worth by claiming that. His crack was about her older daughter, WHO HAD BEEN KNOCKED UP, and the fact that the older daughter came out saying abstinence doesn't work, then got pushed by mom (I'm betting) into reversing her stand, and the fact that Palin made the absolute most out of the lie that she could, reflects worse on them than his admitting he's had affairs.

He's a single man, and nobody is even intimating that the women he had affairs with were under age, nor has a one of them (past or present) said it had anything to do with sexual harrassment, so it's nobody's business. Any of them could have brought harrassment charges and made a bundle if they wanted to, so why haven't they? Because yeah, famous people attract women, biiiig surprise!

You wanna point fingers, do so at the two politicians recently. One runs off to Argentina, leaving wife and kids on FATHER'S DAY, screwing over his staff by making them lie for him since he didn't tell 'em where he's going, using taxpayer money to make at least one of his little "forays", and bleeding it all over the press.

The other, ALSO married, uses taxpayer money to put his mistress' wife's kid on the payroll, breaks the law to get her husband a job lobbying HIS office, lies about paying 'em off and involves his parents. Wife and husband KNEW about the affair and went on with it for a long time, a DEACON gets involved, and he may face charges in the end.

Yet neither one would ever consider stepping down. And they supposedly represent US. There's absolutely no comparison, and while I've got no sympathy for Letterman, neither will I condemn him.
