Hello pot, this is the kettle.
Not that I approve of such tactics from anyone, but after enduring so much mudslinging, I can hardly blame the Democratic party for getting a little more confrontational.

I think that line should read

either you at least try to appear to tell both sides of the issues without editorializing anyone who disagrees with you as evil...

or you can spout your rubbish without the benefit of access to government press pools.

"We'll know our disinformation program is complete when everything the American public believes is false." -- William Casey, Reagan's presidential campaign manager & CIA Director (from first staff meeting in 1981)

This is all part of how the game is played. It's called "access". Given that FauxNews is nothing but a mouthpiece for the GOP, and a place for them to editorialize and demonize everything Obama does, why would anyone from his administration even waste their time trying to talk to anyone at Faux? As Representative Alan Grayson said, if Obama were to end hunger in the world, the Republicans would blame him for overpopulation.

Somebody remind me - how many times did Dubya go on MSNBC? And where were your complaints then, when his administration made a conscious effort to deny access to what it considered "the lib'ral media"? (And no, I wasn't complaining about his lack of appearances on MSNBC; I was GRATEFUL that he wasn't going over there and giving out interviews. Every time that idiot speaks, his mangling of the English language has me wanting to jam knitting needles through my eardrums.)

This is just so much right-wing idiocy as usual. Bitch and insult, then complain that the other side isn't being nice. Anyone catch HW Bush's little snipe-fest last week, where he asked for restraint and an end to the namecalling, then proceeded to refer to "the cables" and in particular, Olbermann and Maddow, as "sick puppies"? Wow. Good thing he's not doing any namecalling, eh?

Speaking of gay rights, how much airtime did FauxNews devote to the big march weekend before last? About as many people turned out to support gay rights as turned out for the "9/12" protests, yet Faux didn't seem to even notice.

Fair & Balanced, indeed.

ETA: This was posted before Jongsie edited his post. He originally posted that this was an attempt by the Obama admin to sidestep issues like gay rights and Afghanistan.

I'd say it's a blatant and pathetic attempt by CONSERVATIVES to avoid real issues - things like health care reform, gay rights, the FACT that Obama has now kept us safer from terrorist attack for longer than Bush did (that landmark was reached on September 12, 2009, by the way), etc.

HKCAVALIER

I am really so sick of people treating national politics like some gorram rugby match. Oooh, and Obama is down! Pathetic! Haha, Fox rules!

Pathetic? Really? Fox has been very successful at shaping the opinion of the conservative people in this country to the point that huge percentages of 'em believe utter b.s. like Obama's foreign birth, Obama's secret religion, Obama's communist conspiracy, Acorn's apocalyptic influence, death panels, concentration camps for the right, Obama's healthcare "final solution"--the list goes on and on and on and on!

Fox has been extremely successful peddling, promoting, nurturing this "sad, pathetic, blatantly obvious" propaganda for over a year now to the point where they've not only framed the debate, they've all but abolished it.

The White House is just showing the teansiest bit of back bone here (uh-oh, that angry black man again, hide the children!) and saying, "Hey, that ain't right," and the "conservatives" all get up their best high dudgeon and pontificate on the "harm" THIS does to free speech!

Hey, hey, hey, don't be mean. We don't have to be mean, because, remember, no matter where you go, there you are.

Fox News is Fox. I don't watch anything on Fox, except sports. They cancelled Firefly, Drive, and Sarah Connor, 3 shows I liked a lot. But they have had The Simpsons on for 20 years. 20 years??"!! I find it amazing that people still watch that.

It wouldn't have helped. If people want to be assholes, there's no stopping them.

Obama has been demonized from the start from the republicans(it's their job) but this is the first time I've ever heard of a president crying "foul" over it.

How is it "weak" to not engage or give free publicity and ratings to those who have no interest in actually conversing with you, but only want to attack, attack, attack?

And how is ignoring FauxNews, or pointing out that they're basically a broken-clock news organization (they may report actual NEWS maybe twice a day; all the rest is pure bullshit and editorializing), "showing that they are getting to him"?

By the way, would you say that Olbermann and Maddow are "getting to" Bush Sr?

So, by your own reckoning, it wouldn't help Obama at all to go on FauxNews. If they want to be assholes, they're going to be assholes.

Here's WH Communications Director Anita Dunn bragging about how she and Obama "CONTROLLED" the media. This explains much as to why they hate (or are afraid of) Fox. They cannot "control" Fox. Fox does what the networks & NY Times are supposed to do : question, challenge, investigate the Administration, not cheerlead the issues.

Truth is Chris, I really don't care either way. You know I'm an older guy. I have everything I ever wanted in this world; a great family, a good quality of life, good friends, and a career in its' waning days. I'm really not too caring about current policies of this or that, but I do find these media wars very interesting though. If Fox was as supposedly influential on the idiot masses, then how did Obama win the election? On the other hand if Fox is nothing but Right-wing propaganda, how come their ratings are going through the roof, just obliterating everyone else? How come Obama's numbers on just about everything are going south? I do believe there is an Obama backlash going on in the countyr. I think people are sick to death of his endless pontificating and lecturing to us. Seems absurd to me to blame all this on poor lonely Fox News; actually seems sad and pathetic as I said earlier.

Ok, going back to the Bill Clinton years. The Right was constantly attacking Clinton. Rush Limabaugh had his own show that was over the top with Clinton insults. Clinton never had issues. He simply went about his presidential duties.

Obama's too smart to get his hands dirty. Try Googling Anita Dunn, Emmanuel, and Axelrod. You might see what's going on. Fox has nothing to do with Obamas numbers tanking, that's just the American people slowly waking up to his ineffectiveness. Sorry.

What... you live in France or something? Isn't he your President too?

Yeah, Bush was my President, sad to say. But Obama is only YOUR President if you like him, obviously.

"Your" intended as meaning the one you advocated and voted for. Like my ilk with Bush, only much, much quicker. Hey, all is going to be OK. Hillary Clinton will announce she's running against him in about 6 months. Repubs cannot hope to win it for at least another 7 years, so maybe Hillary's challenge will actually do something positive.

p.s. I like how YOU underlined "your"...made for a nice attention-getter, if not a deceptive device.

Yet you'll lie outright and rationalize anything so you can think Fox is being picked on.

I think you need to reacquaint yourself with the definition of "fact".

"I thoroughly disapprove of duels. If a man should challenge me, I would take him kindly and forgivingly by the hand and lead him to a quiet place and kill him."

Oh, you don't like unfair and unbalanced reporting?

Pobrecito! Ya little whiner!

Anyway, not intended to imply that was your underline, just to point out your choice of words, which reflects your bias.
