"...Combivir, a drug used to treat HIV, was in the stash with about a dozen pills left in the bottle, the Dallas Morning News reported. It had been given to Hasan in 2001 at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, the newspaper said.

It wasn't known why Hasan had the HIV medication or whether he was taking it. Combivir also has been prescribed to medical workers to prevent exposure to HIV in needles..."

"Harold Shipman, the British family doctor who murdered more than 200 of his patients to become one of the worst serial killers of all time, hanged himself in his prison cell on the eve of his 58th birthday, prison officials said. Shipman was sentenced to life imprisonment in January 2000 for the murder of 15 female patients between 1975 and 1998, and faced no prospect of parole. Two years later an inquiry concluded that he was responsible for the deaths by lethal injection of at least another 200 mostly female and elderly patients at his greater Manchester area practice. Most of Shipman's victims died suddenly without having experienced any life-threatening symptoms. They were, by and large, elderly women who died after being given a lethal injection, usually of morphine, while Shipman visited them in their homes."

"We believe that within a period of five to ten years, it would be possible to produce a synthetic biological agent that does not naturally exist and for which no natural immunity could have been acquired. Within the next five to ten years, it would probably be possible to make a new infective microorganism which could be different in certain important aspects from any known disease-causing organism. Most importantly, it might be damaging to the immunological and therapeutic processes upon which we depend to maintain our relative freedom from infectious disease. A research program to explore feasibility could be completed in approximately five years at a cost of $10 million. It is a highly controversial issue and there are many who believe such research should not be undertaken, lest it lead to yet another method of mass killing of large populations."

Wow you are not very bright are you?

only 20% of Muslim Americans in polls will first say they are US citizens, many identify themselves first as Muslim rather than an American first because the Muslim identity talkes priority. So when asked in polls many admit their Islamic belief comes before the United States
I am against having Islamic marriages, Islamic clerics policing communities or Islamic courts operating in the United States. This reason is why in my opinion it's important that so many American Muslims are not so religious. The more religious they are, the more difficult the problem becomes.

The poll mentioned here could very well be the truth, and I don't doubt the numbers you cite, but I'm curious about two things, 1) how the question was phrased to the poll-takers, and 2) whether this could merely be a case of syntax and vernacular misunderstanding. After all, many Americans identify themselves as AFRICAN-Americans, but that doesn't necessarily mean they consider themselves "Africans first."

EDIT: And now I'm actually having to pay attention to what the thread title subject line says in my replies, darn. A more innocent age has died.

By the way, Anthony - thank you for the funniest thing I've read in quite a while.

"Fuck you in the neck" indeed. :)

Oh, nothing's really changed, it's just that now you can see how the titles change and "evolve". :)

As for the "poll", I'm curious as well, as I mentioned above. There are LOTS of ways to ask questions that will guarantee the answers you want.

And as I pointed out, if I present a question like "If your government passed a law that Christianity were illegal, would you give up your faith?", and you answered, "No", then you would have identified yourself as a CHRISTIAN rather than as an AMERICAN, meaning you put your religion before your country.

And honestly, I thought if anyone were devoutly religious in pretty much ANY faith, they were SUPPOSED TO put their religion before all other beliefs and allegiances.

It seems odd to castigate Muslims for following their faith more closely than many supposed "christians" do.

Understandably so. And it was very uncharacteristic of you, and so unexpected and jarring that it really took me off guard. My wife and I can't stop saying it. :)

Hello,

Sorry about that. When I changed it to 'Something about Fort Hood goes here" I couldn't remember what the original title had been and was too upset to think about it for long.

Oh, it wasn't you, Anthony. I was changing it back because PN changed it to read something about "Gay doctors" and "Ban the gays" or some other tripe. Seems O2B replied to PN's post where he changed it to that title, which caused it to change BACK to that title.

I was going to say something snarky to O2B about it, but tracking the changes back, it wasn't O2B's intent to change it, he just hit reply on a thread in which PN had already changed it. So I just put some words in my post, and then hit "edit" after posting the response.

I needn't have even posted it, since I could've changed it easily enough without posting again, but I'd already hit "Reply".

Does any of that make sense?

Hello,

Yes it does. To be honest, this whole subject line thing is bothering me much more than it ought.

I guess it has become an irrational sore spot.
