Sigh, yeah, I suppose it's a time-honored practice with those who make blanket statement which are obviously "out there" and get told so by most of the rest. It takes courage to stick it out, I know, but I believe it also takes common sense and some understanding to be able to back up what you say, so running away seems a logical extension of being called on things. Except when it can be turned into a flame war, then I notice they stick around...probably for the sheer fun of it!

It's a shame, all in all. But not much of one, in truth, since debating with the people who DO have arguments and points worth making is much more fun, educational and illuminating. Just think what incredible discussions would exist in the world if...ach, I'm off in dreamland,

But I find it strange that you have no desire to stand by your opinions, or back them up with facts, and would rather run away than continue in a debate. If you truly believe you're right, most people would have more interest in defending their views. We'll never know if you even understood where you went wrong in the first place, in thinking I was comparing being gay to being Black, rather than what I was trying to say, that discrimination was the same no matter WHY one is discriminated against. Do you accept that now? The rest followed from that initial chastizing of me, and the opinions you expressed were pretty strong.

You're free to come and go as you wish, of course, but what you do is reflective of you as a person, and your expressed opinions, so you need to remember that when claiming superiority over others or that others pick on you.

Why was it, then, that you felt the specific need to chide her for equating discrimination against blacks to discrimination against gays (or, to be more accurate, her equating discrimination to discrimination, in whatever form)? Why did you feel the need to say things like, "Shit, girl, you don't even want to go there. You're insulting an awful lot of people."

You say that kind of shit, and when called upon to provide evidence or back up such claims, you disappear.
