Turns out the tea-baggers AREN'T "the common man" - they're a bunch of rich elitists who detest the common man and whine about taxation while paying less taxes than at any time under Bush or Reagan, while ALSO claiming (falsely, of course) that 47% of Americans pay no taxes at all.

So they're against taxes, mad at Obama because their taxes went down, and mad at Obama because almost half of Americans, they claim, aren't paying taxes. Seems they're quite confused.

Clearly, you've never been to a T.E.A party rally or have any clue of what you're talking about.

So, what else is new ?

Weird...would be fascinating, but it’s too pathetic. THAT article is supposed to be a put-down of Clinton??

I see the Whoooz wind is back...what a FOUL stench! It's the worst fart the Tea Party could think of, and I'll bet it represents the smallest conceivable fringe of those people--most of them wouldn't have anything to do with it I'm sure. Hold their noses and walk away I'm sure. There is no reason, no validity, no logic, no reality there...just hate. All the worst things about the Tea Party, all rolled into one. IF they'd have him, which I doubt.

As for "knocking" the Tea Party, he went to lengths NOT to do so and to say nice things about Conservatives; what he did was to urge responsibility. To quote his exact words:
Quote:

"What we learned from Oklahoma City is not that we should gag each other or that we should reduce our passion for the positions we hold - but that the words we use really do matter, because there's this vast echo chamber, and they go across space and they fall on the serious and the delirious alike. They fall on the connected and the unhinged alike," he said.

"One of the things that the conservatives have always brought to the table in America is a reminder that no law can replace personal responsibility. And the more power you have and the more influence you have, the more responsibility you have."

"I'm glad they're fighting over health care and everything else. Let them have at it. But I think that all you have to do is read the paper every day to see how many people there are who are deeply, deeply troubled," he said.

Clinton argued that the Boston Tea Party was in response to taxation without representation. The current protesters, he said, are challenging taxation by elected officials, and the demonstrators have the power to vote them out of office.

"By all means keep fighting, by all means, keep arguing," he said. "But remember, words have consequences as much as actions do, and what we advocate, commensurate with our position and responsibility, we have to take responsibility for. We owe that to Oklahoma City."

Pirate: "Things are conspiracies implanted by Martian rutabagas"

No, the new "ist" of the day is: socialist. Didn't you hear, Obama and all who voted for him are all a bunch of socialists.

What's funny to me is this: I was a youngster when the "left" protested against government involvement (Vietnam, wire-tapping, infiltration, covert operations in overthrowing countries that didn't agree with our policies) and the "right" called these folks a bunch of commie-pinko-wierdos.

Here we are some 40 years later and it all seems to be repeating itself, except the players have switched sides it seems. Presumably, the "right" (more like the GOP agenda) would have us believe that the "moral majority" movement is one made up of ordinary citizens - not the GOP - who are sick and tired of government regulation. Say, isn't that a coincidence, the GOP just happens to hate government regulating businesses to ensure that the economy runs smoothly. Small world.

Hmmmm, now let's see. Let's look at TARP, Troubled Asset Relief Program (just a different way to spell WELFARE or government approved charity. Ok, charity to a bunch of cutthroats who make billion dollar decisions on a daily basis. It may be a stretch but nonetheless a more-true-than-not statement.) It was the brainchild of one T. Paulson, an ex-Wall Streeter, who summoned his buddies and said "don't cry, you won't lose your cushy jobs." Oh no, we can't have that, they might have to work for a living. President Bush even used his executive power to declare "that TARP funds may be spent on any program he personally deems necessary to avert the financial crisis. This has allowed President Bush to extend the use of TARP funds to support the auto industry, a move supported by the United Auto Workers." Additionally, Paulson had complete autonomous power over the program, and, from what I remember, only answered to the president himself.

So the president made a decision, unpopular and risky, but a decision nonetheless and represented himself as the leader of our nation. So, the president, the leader of our government, puts into affect a program, controlled by the government, that used taxpayer monies to provide Welfare to financial institutions. I would say that may ne considered government interference in private business or "regulation."

Am I wrong in this assumption? Where were the Tea Party people then? A sitting Republican President, who's party slogan is "deregulation good, government regulation bad," effectively subverted and abandoned the party rhetoric regarding regulation merely to save the economy. (Some may think that he wanted to save his contributors, No! Not Mr. Bush......never!)

Oh no! What was Bush thinking. Who cares about the average joe? We need to save the banks and those who own them. So what if the little guy is out of work, let them go on unemployment or welfa......Wait a minute! How will we get our money if "Joe" isn't working? Where will the money come from if GM closes down and Joe can't pay his taxes? Where will we get the money to keep our cushy jobs?

Without Joe Schmoe the banks will have to steal from each other (which they probably do anyway) and when's that get fun?

Now class, are we all on the same page? Who here feels that this is just and right? Well, the president was voted into office by the people, so of course he's only doing his job - running the country. And Paulson was hand-picked by the president. So naturally they were working within the Constitution. Did the government, under Bush, overstep their bounds? Did we have protesters lining the streets seeking Bush's head? Not so much.

The now sitting president has had Geithner fine tune TARP so as to make it run more efficiently. Banks are paying back the loans made to them and the president has attempted to implement a stimulus package that would have workers return to work. The argument is that government is getting too big and irresponsible and shouldn't interfere with the private sector through regulation. That the capitalist (there goes that "ist" word again) system should be allowed to run it's course without government interference.

You're gonna be surprised at my answer. I say true that. I say that we shouldn't have "bailed" the banks and car makers out. Let the capitalist system runs its course. New banks and car makers would have taken the place of the old guard and quite possibly flourished within years of the failed businesses. Instead Bush stepped in and saved his buddies and chief donaters. What about the workers you say? Who else would work in the plants and factories of the new corporations.

Next time I say let them burn for running their business into the ground. For greedily taking the American worker for granted, and for selfishly, and stupidly, thinking that they can rule the world. It's been tried before.......and failed. So party people in the house, protest away to your heart's content - it is your right as an American. But don't get fooled again. The GOP just wants back in by any means necessary, just look at your recent history. Besides, we are but pawns in their little game. Put all of their feet to the fire, it will keep them on their toes.

Gettin' old, but still a hippie at heart...

Hee, hee, hee, I owe YOU my thanx for the first giggle of the morning, Reenact: Well said. Except for two things. I hate to think I'm the "leader" of the Rah Rah Guys on the left, and it's horrifying to think of me as Crappy's "reflection! I've had no problem admitting mistakes on the left or by Obama, etc.; has Crappy ever done the same? I don't think it's a simple matter of "things are getting better", I think what I more often do is try to defend the outrageous things said and compare left and right...and go after the idjits (as I see them) on the right, admittedly. Besides, I try to be articulate, and Crappy just hurls insults and doesn't make valid points. Just how I see it. But your point is well taken, and we all ARE pretty predictable, aren't we?

Shiny, that was excellent, well said. I don't think it's quite that cut and dried, in that Obama has let a lot of stuff happen financially that I don't think was right, either, and continued Dumbya's policies wayyyy too much on many things. But the basic premise is right on, and fascinating, too. I hadn't thought much about the reversal, it just seemed like the right was blind to everything Dumbya did. But you're right:

Dumbya:

Massive tax cuts for the rich
TARP: Bank Bailout, sans any controls or restrictions (I didn't know about that clause where Dumbya could spend it any way he wanted; that's scary!)
Auto Bailout
Two Wars, one completely unnecessary, the other questionable

Obama:

Tax cuts for other than the rich; first-time homeowner credit, new-car buyer credit, etc.
Continued TARP, with regulation & payback (but still nothing about salaries, bonuses)
Health Insurance Reform
Attempted Wall Street Reform
Attempted Cap & Trade

I don't see either as "less government", I just see government being used for different purposes. I see Dumbya using it to protect his monied friends and what he considers the "capitalist system" (which it really isn't, or they WOULD have been allowed to fail; I see Obama trying to dig us out of that hole, while still propping up the system, albeit by trying to put controls on it.

I see the majority of things Dumbya did as his attempt, through his view of things, to save the system he believed in, once the result of his tax cuts and deregulation left us screwed; I see Obama as attempting, through HIS view of things, to put things right by regulating, while still ingesting money into the system. Neither's completely right, by far.

What bothers me most, I guess to an extent like what you're saying, is the complaints in view of the facts:

Banks ARE paying us back; the first-time homeowner program IS helping stem foreclosures; the efforts to help people drowning in mortgages is a good thing, trying to regulate the idiocy of Wall Street, the environment, the student-loan boondoggle saves us money, healthcare is at least an ATTEMPT to stop the blood freely flowing out of our GDP, etc.

I don't think either one has it right completely, and the problem with the fact that the Dow IS up, jobs ARE being created, the banks ARE paying us back doesn't prove a negative, to the right. They have the eternally-useful out: "It would have improved anyway, without spending all that money".

Nonetheless, I agree with your point. I'd like to know where they all were when Dumbya was growing government left and right, all those who came out of the woodwork to complain that Obama is growing government left and right.

Remember "The Authoritarians"? That's the answer, pure and simple. To me a big part of the difference will be of Obama DOES pull us out of the wars; that will be a start. I'm still waiting...

At the same time, I'm pissed at both of you for posting reasonable stuff that brought me back into this. I guess I can take comfort in the fact that there are finally people making real statements to respond to, given everything that followed your posts went back to the same old, same old.

Hey Crappy, I accept the compliment: "imitation is the sincerest form of flattery". But I thought of it first, so you get no points for originality.

Also, you don't "debate issues"; you rant away about things which aren't true, hurl what you BELIEVE to be the truth but you've just swallowed from talking points, and never intelligently defend your points. You're the one who reverts to calling people names and pretending you're the adult...when you do otherwise, people may pay you attention. Until then, you just sound like a crybaby. Cry baby cry, make your mother sigh...

Mike, I disagree about the Tea Partiers being "rich elitists". Yes, it's been shown that they are above-average in income, but rich elitists don't sully themselves with protests, they do their protesting via lobbiests and get their way behind the scenes. They're the ones PAYING for the protests, but they're not out there protesting.

I would call the Tea Partiers more middle class, maybe upper middle class, who have bought into the bullshit they've been fed, and in many cases suffer from RWA which skews their thinking. They just don't see things realistically, in my opinion. If they did, they'd have been out there dissing Dumbya long ago.

I also think a) their anger is fueled by what Dumbya did, they're just taking it out on the guy in charge NOW, and b) there's a lot more going on behind their anger, like anti-Dem, hatred of Obama, and fear now that their party is out of control. Dumbya was comfortable for them; Obama's not.

What'sits point about rich politicians has no merit, given it's in response to the Tea Partiers, who aren't politicians in the first place, and are BACKED by rich people in the second. All it serves to do is prove HE's content to dodge and insult.

Sig: based on his wording, whozits is only technically right that there are currently more rich democrats in congress than rich republicans. There are more democrats in office right now than republicans, after all. So if there were more rich republicans in office than democrats, there'd be more rich republicans. It's a technicality, and I'm not sure it even matters.

I mean, I guess you could go look at the actual income of each congressman, average across each party, then compare the two results, but what's the point? They're in office, they're RICH enough to run for office. That's the only category that matters to me.

Besides, there's no telling if reported income figures from any of them are accurate. Shit, man, they create the tax laws, and a lot of them probably have oodles of money sunk in overseas banks and corps.

But I have to say, your disdain for the average working man ("loser") is extremely revealing. And its not so nice when it comes back atcha, huh? "Parasite"

Another baseless claim on your part, followed up with an irrational and nonsensical insult. Do I get any federal $$ ? Nope. Do I pay taxes to the Gov't ? Yep. So, elaborate on just what it is that is suppose to make ME a parasite ?

Oh, and BTW- We know you're a racist from your posts on other websites. The only place you're in the closet is here. And even then... not so much.

So I go back to my original description of you as a teabagger: rich, white, and racist college graduate.

Cite 1 example of me being a racist, ANYWHERE, whether here or when you're stalking me on other web sites. Please, go for it.

Rich? Nope. White ? I suppose so. Racist ? Nope. College grad ? Yep. Too bad you're not a baseball player. Batting .500 is pretty darn good. But not here.

Now, go stalk up some evidence. If ya can.

Your "workday" is the stock trading day. You have your own business. You've probably incorporated yourself, and you're not providing a service to anyone else. You graduated from Auburn, which is where you got your name. Your posts on the Auburn site are racist. You call people who work for a living "losers".

Don't feel that you have to defend or expose yourself.

Yes. I don't print money. Only the U.S. mint can do that ( legally ). I'd ask what you do, but then I really don't care. Nor will I even speculate.

Well, you got 1 thing right. I'm an Auburn grad. War Damn Eagle!

I've never posted a racist comment on that or any board. ( those sites actually HAVE mods who won't tolerate such crap, unlike some OTHER places on the 'net )

I've never once called anyone who works for a livng a 'loser'. The list of unsubstantiated claims and accusations by you towards me goes on, unabated.

You'll take the time to respond to whozit, but upon being challenged to back up your claims against me, your response is still left wanting.

Color me not surprised in the least.

Umm, yes. That WAS the edit I added, and it WAS sarcastic. That still doesn't back up any of the claims, either.

Happy? Hell no, I'm not happy. You've failed to support your claims, what so ever. I demand you offer an apology or retraction , stating you can't find any credible evidence to support your accusations.

Where's the racism ? Where's the REAL post of me calling anyone who works for a living a " loser " ? Seriously, if that's the best you have for all the "research" you've done, that's time in your life you've wasted that's never coming back. Bravo.

And if you BOTHERED to check further down the aunation.net link, you'd plainly see others assumed I was being sarcastic, to which I gave another obvious sarcastic response....
