That's pretty damn bright. I'd have been more than a bit concerned, until it flashed out, and dissipated.

Which is silly what with all the earthquakes we've been having... cuz everyone knows those are signs of a stable planet that isn't about to break-up like a cheap glass gewgaw... just sayin'

That's really not how it works...

Although you can get a little bit of "a butterfly flaps it's wings and causes a storm across the ocean" with an earthquake. Volcanoes in Iceland went off after the Chile earthquake because the systems are somewhat related. But I can promise you the continents aren't going to melt into the mantle or the mantle isn't going to erupt and toss the continents into space or anything like that. The closest you might get to continents breaking up is the Rift opening up in Africa that's eventually going to flood and become a new Mid Ocean Rift, a similar process is also happening in the Great Basin Region.

I suspect you're kidding, but I just wanted to clarify.

That was close. I have watch meteors before and never saw any so close as this one. That would have left a dent.

'...The fireball was caused by a small asteroid hitting Earth's atmosphere at a shallow angle. Preliminary infrasound measurements place the energy of the blast at 20 tons of TNT (0.02 kton), with considerable uncertainty. Bill Cooke of NASA's Meteoroid Environment Office estimates that the space rock was about 1 meter wide and massed some 1260 kg. "Fireballs of this size are surprisingly common," he notes. "They hit Earth about 14 times a month, on average, although most go unnoticed because they appear during the day or over unpopulated areas." '

Gettin' old, but still a hippie at heart...

That would certainly knock ME for a loop...I'm not surprised it did others. When the unusual, unexplained happens, it's bound to freak us out, at the very least, momentarily.

Not much of a "composite". 3 clips, and 2 of them alternating, back to back..but still cool.
