Hello,

In a bold new move to scrub the brown, black, and red from US history, the governor of my fair state has signed a new bill to whitewash education.

I wonder if it might incite racial resentment to learn that the Texans were Mexican residents who stole the territory from Mexico?

*scrub*

The U.S. massacred Native Americans?

*scrub*

The African Americans wrote some moving music about the bonds of slavery?

*scrub*

I have never been more ashamed of a State that I live in than I am now.

Hello,

Knowledge of Native-American sacrifices would be another likely scrub because it could potentially raise the specter of racial resentment.

Heavens to Betsy!

That you are the master of your own destiny? Naw...

That being responsible, self-sufficiant, and strong is the only way to make it? Can't be.

Nope.

Better to cry raciss and keep looking for a handout. Not to mention blaming whitey for all your ills...

thats worked out so well.

Hello,

Are you advocating ignorance for the sake of personal independence?

I want all information available. It is for the individual to decide how they feel about that information.

I want the children to learn that the Spanish committed genocide against native populations just like the Germans attempted genocide against the Jews.

I want everyone to know about human sacrifices at high temples.

I want everyone to know how the Africans were subjugated and mistreated.

I want everyone to know about the U.S. use of primitive biowarfare against the N. American native.

I want the massacres against and by the Mormons to be common knowledge.

All of History. All the details. Even and perhaps Especially the dirty bits.

No whitewash of knowledge.

"I want all information available. It is for the individual to decide how they feel about that information."

As do I. I'd also like a pony.

The problem is, actual, factual history isn't taught. Its been bastardized to make a specific group the root of all ills.

And that the native populations practiced human sacrifice, genital mutilation and rape as part of their relgion.

That Jews were scapegoats, but convienant ones. Also that the rise to power of Hitler was accomplised because of the mistreatment of the Germans by the rest of the world after WW1.

"I want everyone to know how the Africans were subjugated and mistreated. "

That Africans were sold by other Africans in exchange for weapons. That African slaves brought to America were already slaves in Africa.

That the natives would capture settlers to use as slaves, or worse.

Anthony, thanks, impossible to scroll that far down on this, another tweak.

Wulf, getna clue. The whites of history do not revere you, or serve you, if you don't defend them, you won't be to blame for their actions except by some fringe loons that were never on your side. But moreover, race isn't that important. Yeah, sure, there is ethnic tension, but it's not everything, and your wallowing in it discredits you, even if your only a sock puppet.

Hello Wulf,

Some of your comments are confusing.

"As do I."

Wonderful, then you agree with me that this bill is an abomination.

"The problem is, actual, factual history isn't taught. Its been bastardized to make a specific group the root of all ills."

I'm not sure I agree. I still remember the fine lies of Thanksgiving taught to me in grade school. But now it's worse. Now they are going to have the power to bastardize history so that no group is responsible for any ills.

"And that the native populations practiced human sacrifice, genital mutilation and rape as part of their relgion."

And that the European invaders did all of these things as well, as part of their religion, on the edicts of the Catholic Church which stated, in part, that all evils could be committed against nonbelievers. Also that Americas were divied up by papal authority into regions for conquest and exploitation.

"That Jews were scapegoats, but convienant ones."

Most scapegoats are convenient? Not sure what you mean here?

"Also that the rise to power of Hitler was accomplised because of the mistreatment of the Germans by the rest of the world after WW1."

I actually learned this in school.

"That Africans were sold by other Africans in exchange for weapons. That African slaves brought to America were already slaves in Africa."

With the caveat, of course, that the Europeans and Americans fostered the industry of slave trade. No one accuses them of inventing it, that I know of. Merely of making it big business.

In any event, Wulf, you seem to want real history taught, regardless of who is made to look bad by whatever incident. I applaud you for this. Let's join together in opposition of this abominable bill of historical and ethnic censorship.

Wulf,

I see your problem

Germany was oppressed, economically, yes, by jews, sure. So the Nazis came and killed some Jews, who had nothing to do with the banking industry. In fact, the Nazis killed almost exclusively khazar Jews, who weren't even related, but that misses the point: when someone wrongs you, and you take out on someone else of the same race, your not getting revenge, you're attacking random people.

See the thing is, races are not massive sentient collective consciousnesses, they are disassociated groups of random individuals.

So, let's try this one out:

The Aztecs had human sacrifice, but the Spanish didn't massacre them, in fact, the reason we can identify mexicans is because they look so Aztec. Mexico, like Texas, Arizona and California, is an aztec word, and aztec culture and language are alive an well.

Instead, the Spanish slaughtered the arowak. Justice is served, right? Races are some sort of metaphysical entity, then it follows, the arowak, already under arrack, were killed, and most of what they knew went with them.

Blacks were already slaves in Africa, and more buying pressure on that market couldn't possibly support the growth of the industry, I mean, there's something you really want to support, because we are never morally superior to our opponents, and we think that anything done in subsaharan Africa is something for western nations to aspire to, right? Well, now they have a cannibalism problem, so by this logic I expect friend African will be showing up on my menu soon. Ah, civilization.

Sorry short of the sock puppet thing, I can't make head nor tail out of Wulf's logic.

Mike, lol. Also, depending on the founding father.

I see I was outsnarked

Anthony, I think he means what I said, that there were jews involved in germanys problems, actually, not just the debt but the war as well. But you see the logical flaw in racism here, that because some of the perps belonged to one group, that group must be guilty. Personally, I prefer Hayek's analysis of the war as the ultimate consumer.

Bah. Not worth my time to respond to Wulf: Bear in mind, like Crappy he's only here to incite anger and get attention, so it doesn't matter WHAT he says, long as it pisses people off.

Anthony, you have my deepest sympathy. I got a taste of how you feel when Prop 8 passed, but I know we'll fix it in the end. I guess all you can hope for is that Arizona wakes up and fixes ITS abominations in the end. May take a while, given current climate, unfortunately...

Actually the land was granted to foriegn (including but not limited to) immigrants by the lawful Mexican govt.

You are wrong in your assumption that by coming to Mexico to live, Texians had to live by Mexican law. This is not true. The values of liberty and justice that the American immigrants brought with them were not American values or American rights granted under the United States Constitution...they were human rights, natural rights possessed by all men no matter the were they are living. When Mexico chose to violate those rights the Texians had every right to rebel. The Mexican govt tried to put them down and failed and an agreement, legal and binding, was reached settling the issue of Texan independence.

Perhaps rather then focusing on the theft of northern Mexico...schools should study what the Texians were fighting for.

In any event, they did not steal the land...they won it. Unless your saying we stole most of the rest of America from King George. I wonder what the racial implications of ignoring that part of our history mean.

I note for the record that Juan Abamillo, Juan A. Badillo, Antonio Cruz y Arocha (survivor), Alexandro de la Garza (survivor), Carlos Espalier, José Gregorio Esparza, Antonio Fuentes, Brigido Guerrero (survivor), Toribio Losoya, Andrés Nava, Captain Juan Seguin (survivor) were all Mexican and were among those stealing Mexico's land at the Alamo. What does it say about racial resentment that their sacrifice and that of thousands of other hispanics are ignored.

The fight for Texas is simply not a good argument for you. The Texians had good reason to fight, they were outnumbered and outclassed from day one, and they kicked ass without getting greedy. You may want to make an argument about the Mexican-American War...which turned into a pretty straight up land grab, although the land was lost by Mexico, not stolen.

And its not like Mexico really wants it back, I'm pretty sure that most Mexicans would rather we had just taken over their whole country way back when.

We did? I've never seen that in a movie, book, or heard somebody mention it. Not once, especially not in nearly every movie, book, or textbook about America's expansion westward made in the last fifty years. I saw this movie once...'Dances With Wolves' and it was only about dancing, not one indian dies injustly at the hands of an American soldier. And I can't think of a single scene from a movie starring John Wayne were he tries to intercede and help the indians either by showing respect for their fighting prowess or standing up against corrupt Indian agents and govt officials.

Make sure that's in the textbook because folks never here anything about slavery or African American culture and history. This is so important perhaps we should devote a month to study it, a short month if possible.

Hello?

Yes, we did. We stole it. We stole it from him after he stole it from someone else. Maybe stole isn't the right word? What's the legal term? Robbery?

The whole of human history is people stealing land, life, and liberty from each other. That's rather much my point. You can't create a bill that restricts the presentation of knowledge that might emphasize a race or show a race of people in a negative light. It would obliterate the whole of history, forcing it to be repackaged in some kind of inoffensive wrapper. History is offensive, and is largely composed of atrocity after atrocity. You can't fix it. You have to take it all in.

Your other comments were humorous, though I do think the atrocities closest to us are the ones we focus on in more detail. Not anymore, though. It's entirely possible that focus on Native American slaughter and African American slavery will be diluted under the new bill.
