Over the years, cause of the way opposition to the social order of the day is generally considered "evil" that's become more Evil Overlord Errant, but it's kinda the same principle from either end.

Next year I may actually try to get the thousand signatures to register the "overlord party" as an actual political entity around here, so far every time I've done the related schtick (borrowing a bit from Zod for President, mind) it's gone over so well I think it's actually viable - and THAT, in and of itself, is disturbing.

That's the monster raving looney party affect. The thirds party movement loves these guys because they make a backup for getting your candidate on the ballot. Its probably the second best way to start a party., the beast being to start a third party splitter, which is watt I expect the tea party to try.

ETA: Oh phooey. If you speak iPad, change that to "best being" not beast being, and also, what, not watt.

DT, local politics around here is a bit darker and more screwball than you'd think, lest you forget, I've already *been* elected once around here already, and despite being all but run outta town on a rail, a LOT of folk think I got a pretty good idea of how to run things, cause the beneficial stuff I did lingered long after I was gone - they didn't have to buy road salt at rapacious prices (although due to them not securing it, some of it was stolen), they got the road fixed for 1/10th of what the former city council wanted for it, the budget is/was running at a surplus and their corrupt Police Dept got all but obliterated, and replaced by a couple halfway decent folk who at least pretend they mean well.

And now, what with bein one county over and being more or less THE answer to "what now" when conventional authority fails to do the job, or preys on it's own citizens, there's a substantial amount of "hail to the overlord" goin on, to where some of the old townships business folk have taken to callin me the ghost of Huey Long.

Not to mention even some of the folk saying "hail to the overlord" aren't nearly as tongue in cheek about it as I was takin em for, which has become something between amusing and disturbing since the antagonism between me and a certain local church has stirred them up to where someone today was askin me to put out some "hail to the overlord" pins and buttons.

So yeah, the fact that this is realistically viable around here oughta tell ya how screwed up local politics is.

Speaking of the local politics issue, I have indeed noticed a trend of backlash and upheavals at the local level, and while not arrogant enough to think my actions had anything to do with startin it, I sure as hell hope they encouraged it.
