"We'll know our disinformation program is complete when everything the American public believes is false." -- William Casey, Reagan's presidential campaign manager & CIA Director (from first staff meeting in 1981)

SAN ANTONIO – Afghan soldiers with security clearances that allow them to enter US military instillations are no where to be found. One-by-one, the 17 Afghan soldiers went AWOL from a training program at Lackland Air Force Base. Officials say seven have been caught, but ten remain on the loose.

“Generally, the people that are sent to DLI are the cream of the crop for their countries,” said Cyndi Furnish, a former instructor at Lackland AFB.

Base officials explain that people from countries around the world are sent to learn the English language at the Defense Language Institute (DLI) on Lackland. In 2009 more than 3,400 students were brought to Lackland, including 228 from Afghanistan. The deserters were training to become pilots, according to a bulletin issued on Wednesday.

This vile and revolting malice - this is their true colors, always has been, you're just seeing it without the mask of justifications and excuses they hide it behind, is all. Make sure to remember it once they put the mask back on. --Fremdfirma

Hello,

We need better immigration control policies on air force bases.

Not to sound misanthropic here, but it might be a good thing fot the human race. If the afghan war spills onto us soil, it could end the war. We are, like Israel, basically cowards. The foreign wars in which actual combat took place on US soil were relatively short and not as bloody because we don't have the stomach for out own policy. If Obama can continue to attack wedding parties in Afghanistan and Pakistan without reprocussion, as bush did in Iraq, it will go on forever.

Hello,

I seem to remember a time when we had a foreign war spill onto U.S. soil, and we got into a world war over it.

I'm not sure what the effect of another big terrorist attack would be.

The foreign war, granted, was similar to our present ones, a lot of side switching and relabelling, you might have a point, particularly if it were a single "terrorist" attack. If it represent an actual campaign, americans would want out of the war.

In 1937 the US teamed up with the USSR and Nazi Germany to attack imperial japan in manchuria with hopes of taking Korea. 1938, Germany decided to topple Japan from within by supporting Tojo, putting Germany on the opposite side from the US and USSR, who were supporting Mao, unless it was Chiang, but IIRC it was the US who later switched sides to Chiang Kai Shek.

At any rate, Tojo had embarked on a campaign of american containment on German orders, but really just paralleled US and Japanese expansionist policy. The notion that the Japanese ships were "hovering off shore" was a bit of an exaggeration, they were IIRC, 150 miles away, in Japanese waters, which makes sense if you think in terms of pacific islands. Sure, you can argue that midway is not japan proper, but you could equally argue that Hawaii was not America proper, had few Americans in it, and was not yet a US state.

On a routine patrol, a us captain panicked, and fired on a Japanese sub, a story which has been discussed here in Somme depth. The upshot being that the Japanese thought they would have to preemptively prevent an american naval attack by wiping out the navy in the harbor, a spot decision made by the captain of the aircraft carrier who received the distress call from the sub. It took 30 minutes to deliberate and execute that order, vs, 32 minutes for the US evacuation response.

The incident did did not technically take place in the US, and did not result in any war in the US, and not much change in foreign policy since we had been at war with Japan for four years at the time.

The fact that we all know the details of the single attack on the us occupied nation of Hawaii is a sign of exactly how little stomach the US actually has for war, which is strange for a nation that exports so much of it, more than we export, say, democracy.

The bottom line is: show someone that something can negatively impact their lives, and they mitt consider the negative impact. As long as it just negatively impacts others, they will probably just keep on doing it, even if there's no clear benefit to doing so.

Sure, tell that to the soldiers of the civil war. What wars were not as bloody as Iraq or Afghanistan? How many people have died? More people died in one hour in any war on our soil than have died in 8 yrs there. I think you might want to take this post back....It's a pretty absurd statement(yep, even from me).

JONGSSTRAW

Afghanistan is a disaster now matter how you look at it. I think we should get out, and get out fast. There is nothing there to fight for. You cannot fight on behalf of a corrupt, drug-dealing Government and expect any resemblance of order and cooperation from the citizenry. One would think that the many documented atrocities of the Taliban during their reign would be enough reason for Afghans to fight with us, but human beings have very short memories. They support whoever is feeding them at the time.

Lambs to the slaughter. People who fight in our wars are largely children, whom we brainwash and then sacrifice.

As for the civil war, that doesn't qualify as a foreign war.

Just want this nonsense to stop is all. Anthonys probably right though, a half dozen afghans will only make Obama a new war poster, what they rally need is something that will give the govt pause. The islamic republic of Texas. Now that would give them pause.

I'm thinking that they probably decided they'd rather take a chance on making a life in the U.S. than go back to Afghanistan. Plenty of Afghan communities here they could find work and support in.
