Yeah, I saw it hit 108º in DC today. Here in Austin in July, we usually call that "Tuesday". Oddly, this year has been COOLER than normal here. We've yet to hit the hundred mark, and topped out today at a mere 93º. I celebrated by riding a little 6.5 mile loop on my new bike. Hopefully I'll have that up to 35 miles by year's end. I'm on a mission.

Just FYI, I saw a weather broadcast at the end of spring that said that the jet stream is making a lower than normal dip and so the weather patterns are a little different than usual and the trend could continue for a couple YEARS, so??? 'Course they don't exactly know what tomorrow will look like most days...I watch the high/low/records and in the 20's our area had some wicked weather patterns, so I'm wondering if that will cycle back around soon... Just so you know- if my house goes flyin' outta the sky and drops in Texas just leave the Ruby slippers alone, 'K? they may be pretty but soo not worth it!

Good luck with your mission, and be careful hon, we just use bikers for target practice up here!

You seem to think that 20 years in the future equates to "never". At the moment, we're our own worst enemies; but I think that in the near future that's going to change.

It's actually a lot easier to predict long term trends than short term weather.

I'm like Frem...anything over 70 is downright uncomfortable; the few times we get to 100, I just sit under the air conditioner and WAIT, I literally CAN't do anything. We just had several days when the fog rolled out and we got into the high eighties. I was stationary from 3-6pm (here it gets hottest in the late afternoon). Jim says since sleeping outside I've become less tolerant of heat, but I never WAS anyway.

So you have my deepest sympathies, those of you suffering from this; I've read about it but didn't think it was worth putting up here. Glad I was wrong.

By the way, after ALL the bullshit about the record snows last year, where are the climate change deniers now? Too hot for 'em?

The climate is changing; that's just a fact. Anyone who's lived anywhere for over say 10 years can see it. We sure can here! But of course, it's no big deal and we can just go on the way we've been going on forever...riiiight.

Meanwhile, those die-hard hatriots at the Tea Party Nation have had to cancel their big convention in Vegas, because apparently they just now realized that Vegas gets really really HOT in July. Go figure. Nobody ever accused them of an overabundance of brains...

Tea Party Nation convention in Vegas postponed

By Amy Gardner

Tea Party Nation, the conservative organizer that put on the first big tea party convention in Nashville earlier this year, has postponed its upcoming convention in Las Vegas, which had been scheduled for mid-July.

Judson Phillips, the founder of Tea Party Nation, said the group will try to reschedule the convention in October. He said many activists were interested in attending, but many also said they would not be able to come in July, when Las Vegas is likely to be baking in 100-degree-plus weather. (On Tuesday, Vegas was expected to hit a high of 106 degrees. But remember, it's a dry heat!)

I guess they really are what you'd call "partly cloudy patriots". They'll stop at NOTHING to take this country back! No price is too high! But it's HOT out there, and my Minuteman outfit might wrinkle!

It was refreshingly mild for a 4th of July, here in the deep South. Low humidity too!

Quite enjoyable.

The 55,000 runners at the Peachtree Road Race ( the world's largest 10 K ) were very grateful of the mild weather.

Hell, I noticed THAT when I was a kid, that temps were getting more extreme - and being only a kid and not knowing shit about it I held a theory for a long time that it might be cause our orbit was decaying and no one would admit it.

Ouch DT! Take care of yourself as much as you can, eh? That can get dangerous.

I saw it was 106˚ in New York today! Jezus, I just can't conceive of that. Especially as they said the humidity is 100%!! Our humidity is low, being a dry state, and every time I complain about the weather people from elsewhere (like Choey) respond with "hah, you should see what it feels like with humidity thrown in!" Don't want to, many thanx.

They've got all kinds of stuff on the news about how to take care of yourself and the fear of brown-outs from air conditioner use. Children and dogs in cars will die today because there ar always stupid people.

How awful! I hope it breaks for any of you around there asap, that's downright in human!
