I'm not nearly the road-dog I used to be anymore. I don't fly commercial, and I'm not big on long road trips these days. Used to do Austin-to-LA or Austin-to-Orlando in a single shot, but it just takes too much out of me anymore.

We have some kind of “con” here in SF, Rose; I went to it last year, met Adam Baldwin and hung around the SF Browncoat booth. Not my kind of thing either, but amusing. I think she was suggesting we use one of the cons as a meeting place, Wulf, not actually GO to it to meet—it would be a large city of some kind, since that’s where the big ones are held, so a reasonable destination, and since we’re all Browncoats, it would make sense.

“Got the BUCKS to face one another” you mean? I would bet most of us are working stiffs who can’t take time off to galavant around the country to meetings, as well as betting most of us don’t have the BUCKS to do so either...has nothing to do with courage, tho’ I realize in your world everything seems to. I can’t afford to go anywhere...you guys are making possible the only trip more than 200 miles away (which I can drive) I will have made in many, many years.

Chris, I think that’s a safe bet...at least as long as we stayed off of politics, or at least got OFF it now and again.

Went to two Firefly cons. Cool experiences, glad I went. Got to meet a few of the folks from FFF, met several of the actors in person, and even touched the great sweaty sexiness that is Nathan.

But cons are generally not my thing. I despise sing-a-longs and large groups of anonymous people make my skin crawl.

(Hmm. Except I love NYC. There something different about large groups of anonymous people who go about their business and leave me to mine....)

Anyway, I do have fandom friends I love and maybe I'll go to one of the big cons someday to see them. Someday. Otherwise, anyone visiting NYC and wanting a coffee or adult beverage should drop me a line. I'm almost always in the city on Saturdays.

I really kinda DO wish I could make it, though. Haven't had a vacation in years. At this point, they're convinced the place couldn't run without me, and with the economy being what it is, I'm not inclined to disabuse them of that notion by taking a week or two off and having them find out that it CAN!

But yeah, it actually might be kinda fun to meet up with the Wulf. I've little doubt we could have some interesting conversations. And maybe even some fun at the shooting range!
