What about a splash of balsamic on a salad?

Yep, of course. Any kind of salad dressing or mayonnaise, is an ok use of vinegar.

It's not personal. It's just war.

Isn't that one of the best things about the Internet, that we can learn about each other and the stuff that wasn't taught in school.
I think so. And yes, it is dangerous to learn only part of something...just as with Fox News and others, the opinions stated as fact can be badly misleading. But better some than none, and here, at least, we have representatives of other countries who will correct misunderstandings, as happened for me.

Dmaan, I take your point on fruit. Jo was amazed while she lived here that we Yanks eat SWEETS for breakfast, whereas over there you tend to eat more meat, etc. Given it's the most important meal of the day, I think your way makes more sense, but it's a cultural thing which won't change.

Of course I'm aware of the ignorance of Americans; I think I said so twice. It has shocked me and I decry it, but I learned it early on. Little as it was known then by anyone, whenever we said we'd lived in Afghanistan, people invariably got a puzzled look on their faces and said things like "Isn't that somewhere in Africa or something?"

People on the street and children in school answer the most amazing things when asked details about AMERICA, much less the rest of the world. It's a shame.

B]

I appreciate what you mean. But on the other hand the knowledge gained in this way can be fragmented and out of context. Learning about history online is a bad way of doing it. A little knowledge is so often the excuse for holding a very unhumble attitude towards all the stuff that isn't known.

If you get your knowledge from major news sources, it's also fragmented and out of context. The Net provides an opportunity for people to get access to stuff that is outside their normal (previous0 realm of experience. Of course, most people appear to be quite close minded, and many Americans display a complete lack of interest in things not related to America, which is opportunity lost in my view.

Niki is not one of the above. She is interested in different views and different cultures.

I'm going to ask a few people and see just how unique my ignorance is, because I'm pretty sure I'm not alone. Like I said, Americans are astonishingly ignorant of the world.

I, too, am glad I'm not a sock puppet!

Yes, of course.

I'm sure you're not alone. You must be aware that Americans have a reputation for astonishing ignorance of the world; a stereotype I try not to buy into. Or put it this way, I appreciate that it's the flip side of everything that's great about them.

Sure we are ignorant. It is because of our lack of media options. We only have MSNBC, FOX, CNN, RT, CSPAN 1 and2, ABC, CBC, NBC, NPR, BBC, CNBC, AL jeezera, Telemundo, And about a trillion political Magazines, and the internet in every home....We are the least informed people on earth. SO ignorant...Aliasse you are out of your mind. Don't Listen to Nikki hippie, that she was ignorant to the make up of Great Britain, Unitied kingdom, and Eire....don't project that onto the rest of us. See we have more news papers than any country on earth. Millions of American's read news from multiple sources everyday. She is a retarded pom..

David Icke gave this fantastic speech on August the 29th, 2020 at The Unite For Freedom rally at London’s Trafalgar Square to a crowd of thousands of protesters.
The Unite For Freedom rally saw a vast mask-free crowd carrying signs and placards including “World Hoax Organisation” and “Masks are muzzles”.
Many demanded an end to government health measures and the right to catch coronavirus – should it even exist – without state interference.
Key speakers at the event included researcher and author David Icke and Piers Corbyn, the brother of former Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn.

You seem to be missing a bit of history, let me tell you about your British history, there were ancient people in England, Wales, Scotland then came Romans the guys from Rome beast a lot of the world, Latin who conquered England and made 'Britain' the Latin in your English language and territory that became the Roman province of Britannia. Scottish who were trouble for Rome they could not conquer them so they made a big Wall, the later French, Norman, Norse, Germanic Anglo Saxon influece on British culture and identity which made it separate from Scottish. Fatboy crazy man with Redbeard, Henry VIII he couldn't father kids, something wrong with the testicle balls sack firing different juices so he blames the women and starts chopping off their heads causing chaos across Europe, has a fight with the church in Rome something Scotland wanted no part of and then Queen of Scotland the only surviving legitimate child of James V, Mary Queen of Scotts gets her head chopped off in February 1587, and saying In manus tuas, Domine, commendo spiritum meum "Into thy hands, O Lord, I commend my spirit" before her Death. To the credit of the Latin people and Rome during invasion and occupation of Britain the Romans built an extensive network of roads which continued to be used in later centuries and many are still followed today.

Balmoral Castle is a large estate house in Royal Deeside, Aberdeenshire, Scotland, owned by Queen Elizabeth II. It is near the village of Crathie, 9 miles (14 kilometres) west of Ballater and 50 miles (80 kilometres) west of Aberdeen.

Balmoral has been one of the residences of the British royal family since 1852, when the estate and its original castle were bought from the Farquharson family by Prince Albert, the husband of Queen Victoria. ...

Queen Elizabeth II was in residence at Balmoral at the time of the death of Diana, Princess of Wales in 1997. Her private discussions with then Prime Minister Tony Blair were dramatised in the Stephen Frears film The Queen (2006). Queen Elizabeth II's visits to Balmoral Castle were also featured in several episodes of the Netflix series The Crown. Ardverikie House was used as a stand-in for the royal estate for filming purposes. Since 1987 an illustration of the castle has been featured on the reverse of £100 notes issued by the Royal Bank of Scotland.

So the scandals...What are the allegations against Prince Andrew?...
