Think about it. It IS.

Fear that Muslims might be in Congress...because if they're Muslim, they're the enemy.

Fear that the President might be Muslim...because if he's Muslim, he's the enemy.

Call to investigate Muslims working at the White House...because if they're Muslim, they're the enemy.

Call to make practice of Islam illegal...because if they're Muslim, they're the enemy.

Fear of Muslims financing anything...because if they're Muslim, they're the enemy..,

...and on and on and on.

...so let's investigate them all.

Yes, there is a very real danger in Muslim extremists.
There was a very real danger in Communism and spies.

But seeing them "everywhere"? Wanting to "root them out", expose them, attack them?

McCarthyism worked because a politician latched onto that fear and used it to his own advantage to gain power, until someone finally called him on it. Islamophobia is working because politicians have latched onto that fear and used it to their own advantage.

As to the "majority" being anti-virtually everything Muslim and equating Islam with terrorism, the "majority" was pro-McCarthy once.

Where is an Edward R. Morrow when we need him? Ron Paul isn't Morrow, but he tried; it didn't take. Who else will stand up?

You want to pretend 9/11 didn't happen.

It did. The more you and the Left wing elites try to tell us otherwise, the worse it's going to get.

It's truly amazing. These folks will vilify ( and rightfully so ) the Phelps clan, for protesting the funerals of gays, but when it comes to Muslims, who deny even the existence of gays, ( as Iranian President did, when he spoke here in the US ), Lefties get all warm and fuzzy.

Don't make no sense, is right. Your continual demagogy on the subject don't make no sense at all. I don't get "warm and fuzzy" about Muslims, any more then I get "warm and fuzzy" about the Phelps clan. I despise ALL organized religions. The difference is, unlike you, I despise them all equally, AND I recognize their right to exist, and will fight for their right to believe in things that I myself don't believe in.

You, on the other hand, only believe that people have the right to believe in exactly what you believe. The second they deviate from your rigid belief system, you'd happily throw them to the wolves. You have more in common with the Taliban than you do with the founders of this nation.

Take STDS as an example. I despise them, except when people I don't like have them. But as a general rule, I don't care for them one whit.

I do not, however, hate the Clap and AIDs equally, because they are not equally virulent. One is a wretched nuisannce, the other likely to kill you.

Disney Hijab Controversy: Muslim Hostess Calls Disney's Replacement Hijab "Offensive"

ANAHEIM -- (KTLA) A Muslim woman who is fighting for the right to wear her hijab to work says Disney's replacement headress is "offensive."

Imane Boudlal, 26, who is a hostess at the Storyteller's Restaurant in Disneyland's Grand Californian Hotel, says she is not allowed to wear the head scarf while at work and has been sent home seven times times -- without pay.

Disneyland spokeswoman Suzi Brown said Disney has a policy not to discriminate and is trying to work out a compromise.

Disney has offered Boudlal a hat to wear on top of a bonnet in place of her own white headscarf but Boudlal says the new uniform does not meet her religious needs and says the hat is embarrassing, especially because she would be the only employee forced to wear it.

See, in YOUR slanted view, I'd gleefully side w/ Disney here, and that the dirty Muslim should not only be fired, but kicked out of the country for being so anti-American.

In reality, she's right, and Disney is wrong. Her traditional head scarf isn't in the least bit offensive, and IMO, Disney is overreaching its bounds, as well as likely over reacting.

I don't see the hajib as any more an issue than what one of Disney's own characters, Maid Marian, wears in the 1973 animated movie, Robin Hood.

Disney did give us " It's a small, small, world ", and I don't see how a Muslim head covering does anything but promote that noble idea. ( though someone ought to have to pay for that horrific song.... )

I know, it's hard for you to comprehend. But the monster you try to paint others as being, it really is you.

Hello,

I found this A.P. article to be illuminating.

Quote:

From the Asinine Press:

New York (AP) -- Accused murderer and rapist David McCullin was found guilty today in the third district court of appeals. His defense attorney Jason Fredericks says he has exhausted all avenues of appeal for his client. Upon hearing this, Judge Martinez ordered the bailiff to arrest the attorney.

"If you defend murderers and rapists," the Judge explained, "then you advocate murder and rape. We can't have that in this country." Fredericks quickly came to his own defense, "But your honor, I don't condone rape and murder. I just think everyone has rights, including the right to a fair trial."

"Nonsense," the Judge affirmed, "if you defend criminals, you side with the criminals." As the bailiff dragged Fredericks away, the attorney exclaimed, "But I defend everybody. Everyone has rights! They're not even criminals until they do something wrong!" Judge Martinez didn't seem to agree, and sent Fredericks to be detained, "for an indefinite period."

In a later interview, the Judge expounded on his viewpoint. "The problem with America is all these people who sympathize with evildoers. From now on, I'm not letting any defense attorneys in my court. This apologism for rape, murder, and other heinous crimes has got to stop. Did you know that most of the people who come into my courtroom are guilty? It doesn't take a rocket scientist to see which way the wind blows. Defending these creeps simply delays the swift progress of justice."

Y'know, the only person I've heard propose stonings for religious purposes in THIS country is a GOP Congressional candidate out of Oregon...

Meanwhile, Rappy blatantly ignores the ritual gang rapes, beatings, mutilations, murder of homosexuals, and more that go on in many "Christian" nations in Africa. And contrary to what some have tried to claim, many of those acts are driven PURELY by religious motives, by religious leaders, a great number of whom are linked to the GOP through "The Family" and the C-Street "church".

Hello,

You seem rather touchy. I am happy to discuss this on your terms.

"it's the Q'ran! but no! it's the Bible"

I never did this, incidentally. I reviewed the Quran. It is simply that almost any generality that can be said about the Quran can be said for the Bible as well. That wasn't clever or parody. That was unvarnished truth. You may also want to note that the Quran is the 'New, New Testament," which encompasses the mythology of the Old and New Testaments (while editing and altering bits.)

"I no longer believe any of your quotes."

Was labeling it 'the Asinine Press' too subtle?

Well, I'm glad you remained skeptical in any event. I try to link to real articles when I quote them. Sometimes I forget.

"You can't make a point any other way than hiding behind parody?"

Here's the bland version: Just because someone defends the rights of a person doesn't mean they are advocating anything about that person other than the mere fact of their rights.

To suggest otherwise is very Mccarthyist. It's exactly why everyone was loathe to defend accused Communists, or even suggest that a mere belief in Communism wasn't necessarily dangerous or un-American. The moment people made any such suggestion, they found themselves under the barrel of the accusation-cannon.

I don't know a lot about the accused Communists who fell under Mccarthy's scrutiny, but I know that Mccarthy himself was both wrong for his crusade, and displayed the epitome of Un-American behavior.

Calling him a demagogue is insulting, that's like calling a town crier one, there's a difference between reading a script and actually knowing how to wind people up, and the latter requires a competence wholly lacking in this case, therefore on the face of it, that attribution is false.

Okay; nobody is “ignoring” anything, as has been accused; we are trying to bring some perspective to statements that Islam is a terrorist religion and/or that Christianity is lilly white. To say anyone is ignoring Muslim terrorism or feeling “warm and fuzzy” or saying there are no terrorist or any of that crap is just that: crap, and I cannot conceive of why anyone would say such a thing. Either it just sounds good, it’s actually what they believe (inconceivable!) or it’s how they want to portray the situation. By making such statements they completely and utterly discredit themselves and virtually any argument they make, so I find it hard to figure out why they make them. Oh, unless it's just to try and trigger othres. Whatever the reason, it’s ASSinine.

By the way, it was Communism McCarthy was “ferreting out”, not socialism. They're not quite the same thing, you kow. Nonetheless, the idea that anyone would take anything that small, small politician who found a way to become BIG seriously is just as asinine, but everyone’s entitled to their opinion. That Raptor believes that insanity, has nothing to do with the facts about McCarthyism and the parallel we are facing today.

My gawd, Anthony, you almost got me with that article! I actually believed it for about two seconds—which shows you how low America has sunk!

Frem: good ‘un! But omigawd, Kane TOO??? None of these people seem to remember that Glenn Beck himself said he was a rodeo clown and anyone who took him literally was a fool. I couldn’t get more than a minute into the McCarthy video he posted...about the time I got to “the best thing that ever happened to the Communists was the red scare” and the realization that Kane was saying McCarthy wasn’t insane, but RIGHT.

Sometimes I still get surprised by the mentality of some people, I’m just unable to imagine such people actually think the way they do. Weird...

ANTHONYT

Freedom is Important because People are Important

"saying McCarthy wasn’t insane, but RIGHT."

Hello,

Some day, in ten or twenty or even fifty years, it may come out that one of the people involved with the Community Center is a terrorist. It might surface that they diverted funds to a terrorist cell. Planned terrorist activity at the Community Center. Met contacts in the Prayer Room. Purchased explosives and stored them in a closet at the Community Center. Maybe even blow up a building.

And if that happens, many people will stand up and say, "See?! We were right! They used the Community Center for terrorism! They are a violent people! One of the people involved was a terrorist! We were correct to oppose the structure! We are vindicated!"

This same kind of thing can be seen when an inconvenient detail of the law lets an accused murderer off the hook. Then he goes and murders again. And people say, "See?!"

Frequently this will be followed with angry shouts to do away with X Procedure or Y Law or Z Protection. Because, "Look! He got off and he killed! On a technicality!"

That technicality usually has something to do with equal rights and protections to all persons under the law.

It's just inconceivable to people that even if someone later proves to be bad, it was still never okay to persecute them or violate them. Even if doing so would have been helpful, or prevented some tragedy, it's STILL not okay to persecute them or violate them.

The principle exists for a reason. Not because it's always right. But because the alternative is always wrong.

Okay, this gave me a funny. I know you meant "you know", but I hit it like a road hump, and read it as "They're not quite the same thing, you cow." :) Works either way.

Anyway, to the point at hand. NO, Rappy DOESN'T know the difference. To him, every "ism" is evil, except for "conservatism", "capitalism", and "patriotism". And he CAN. NOT. EVER. SEE. how those could be used for evil.

That's completely by design. There's a hardcore effort on the right to revise history and paint ol' Scary Joe as some kind of crusading hero.

Gettin' old, but still a hippie at heart...

Anthony, I fully aree. It's a pisser when someone like O.J. gets off, but it's the price we pay for standing by our law. It's not perfect, but for all its faults it beats the HELL out of the alternatives!

As to finding out after the fact, I'll never forget what was done to ACORN. (Here come the snarks) That our legislators and everyone else were taken in by those lies and that fraud is disgusting, given it killed ACORN which did good work. Like I said, they are amazingly good at manipulation, and it worked like a charm. Despite whatever problems ACORN actually had (and they WERE small, "voter registration fraud" means nothing because fraudulent registration doesn't lead to fraudulent VOTING), they did wonderful work in bringing disenfranchised people into the system, and all the other stuff they did, but man, fear is sure easy to instill when you're a pro at it. And the GOP sure is!

I know, Mike. Like you, I respond for others, not for him, to clarify the accuracy of the idiocy he claims as fact.

I'm blown away to learn the right is trying to resurrect McCarthy. That's such a well-known piece of history...it's TRUTH is so well known, and the man did and said such horrible things and screwed up so many people's lives (a la "Hand that Rocks the Cradle" for just one example), it's astonishing to think anyone can look back and see it any other way. Shouldn't surprise me, of course. Like I sid, they know every trick in the book (many of which they WROTE!), and I have to grudgingly appreciate how good they are at it, however much I may despise it.

No Kane, I didn't forget my admission. I've been teying to get Rappy to yiff with me for months, but he keeps dismissing me and denying that he is a furry, and that his fursona is a cross-dressing bald eagle.

I suspect that he is a confurvative.

Part of me however agrees with the Mohammedanism problem thing, everwhere it goes islamics the jihads and Democracy Never Co-Exist NEVER EVER Coexist...some form of Sharia Law is the mainstream in these cultures.

it is a religion of backward thinking, extremism, sickness...most religions have bad elements, everyone I seen as some problem but islam is perhaps the worst of them, maybe even class it as a 'Cult' regardless of the huge number of idiots that follow.
