"Many teenagers thought that God simply wanted them to feel good and do good"

""If teenagers lack an articulate faith, it may be because the faith we show them is too spineless to merit much in the way of conversation," wrote Dean, a professor of youth and church culture at Princeton Theological Seminary."

""If your church can't survive without a certain number of members pledging, you might not want to preach a message that might make people mad," Corrie says."

"A parent's radical act of faith could involve something as simple as spending a summer in Bolivia working on an agricultural renewal project or turning down a more lucrative job offer to stay at a struggling church, Dean says."

Hello,

On CNN, an article about experts who decry the way young Christians practice their religion.

When will kids learn that the Christian God does NOT want them to feel good and do good? What spineless faith are we teaching children nowadays? When will preachers learn that a message that angers people must not be shied away from? Why won't parents take the simple step of quitting their jobs and going to do good works in Bolivia? Why won't they sacrifice increased pay to prop up dying churches?

*sigh*

This is why people look at religious folk sideways.

And of course the stuff-we-won't-say-out-loud, but still comes across crystal fekkin clear anyways.

"They should ripping out the throats of unbelievers with their teeth, harrassing, tormenting and shunning those who aren't part of the herd, making blood sacrifices to our murder-god!"

The spineless ones here are the adults unwilling and unable to question and explore their own beliefs, because doctrine is no substitite for faith, and if they have so little that doctrine is so bloody important to them, maybe THEY should question why that is.

Experiences shape a person, and from the moment I can recall sentient thought, up to about the age of ten, the very worst abusers, hypocrites, backstabbers, liars and other malefactors all had ONE thing in common - care to guess what it was ?

It wasn't till about four years later I began to realize those things didn't have a lot to do with each other, that the percentage was high only cause so many people profess that belief when pressed, was all...

But it certainly colored my opinion of em for a long time.

On the other hand, find me ONE PERSON with a handicapped plate who doesn't drive like they're stoned out of their mind, and I might believe that plate doesn't automatically indicate a serious lack of ability to operate a vehicle - and that ain't happened yet!

PS. Which is why I *refuse* to put one on MY car, vanity notwithstanding.
